I’m sorry if I have been out of the loop on this, did ANet announce that they’re working on the next expansion? I’ve seen this mentioned in a couple of other threads but haven’t seen any official threads.

Yes, they have stated this. In several posts, the AMA, the Guild Chat videos, interviews and elsewhere, I would imagine.

But unlike the last one, it’s being done alongside the Living Story and any live game content/events so in theory we won’t quite encounter another major content drought that we had from Jan 2015 to Oct 2015 when HoT came out or the intervening 9 months since HoT.

iirc this is why they have changed the living story release model to quarterly (or bi-monthly) instead of monthly, because they have finite development resources and about half of them are focused on xpac 2.
