Nothing has ever made me rage more then GW2
Use cond removal+swiftness. Stability also helps.
Get out of combat, go to the mists, chat as long as you like. When you’re done chatting, leave the mists, you’ll be back where you were. It doesn’t cost you anything and it’s not much different from pausing the game.
then just die and wp out
Believe it or not, it used to be a lot worse. I completed Orr mostly solo a very long time ago and because of that I rarely return. At least now the mobs aren’t as dense as they used to be.
A few trips to help clear temples or a farming run with the guild, is about all that will bring me back. GL
Devs: Trait Challenge Issued
This is such a non-issue.
Use voicechat, tell your friend you wont be able to reply as yer fighting in orr, goto a safe area (mists/wp), learn to type faster, use stunbreakers, use stability. That’s what the rest of us do!
And if you wanted to talk to your old friend so badly then you really should have zoned somewhere safe and given him your full attention rather than blaming the game for your inability to juggle fighting and typing.
The game is not at fault in the slightest here.
It’s meant to be hard, it will not be interesting if you can complete all the maps easy, and what is that “GW2 makes me rage” have you ever played League of Legends? From all the games i’ve ever played GW2 is the one that i rage the less in (don’t know if that’s the way to say this, i’m bad at english)
OP hasn’t tried the chocobo challenge in FFX.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
You should have seen it before they nerfed it
Why isnt there an chat/map Transform mode you can get it which makes you invulnerable for a while, when in this form, monsters you attacked you gain health
Because if there was, players would abuse it every single time things go bad to escape death.
just chat away and let the mobs do what they will, you can simply waypoint rez whenever you’re done talking.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Haha, buy the invisibility items for 27 karma from some random vendor (you have to look it up). They can be used in combat, no cooldown, instant invis & agro loss.
Dear secretary of transportation, whenever I shave while driving my car, I hit other cars. I demand of you to remove all traffic from the roads till I have finished my morning shave on the road.
Is this your first time doing world completion or spending any time in Orr, Saleskas? It sounds like you might just not be used to it yet. I assure you, it is entirely possible to find monster-free spots where you can stop to look at your map or just take a short break, especially since the mob density was reduced. Just take it slow and be prepared to fight a bit more than you would have to in lower level zones. Sometimes it’s just faster and easier to kill the annoying Risen rather than to try to escape it. Also, what Iplaytokill said.
If you really feel like you can’t find a moment’s peace, there is at least one spot in each zone where you should be safe even for long afk periods: Pagga’s Waypoint in Malchor’s, the southernmost waypoint in Cursed Shore, and of course, Fort Trinity in the Straits. I know there are others, but those are off the top of my head.

Vayne speaks the truth, as well as others. Condition removals and stability. They did make Orr better, it was 10x worse at launch. It is still a pain sometimes. And no, an ‘invulnerable’ while chatting is a silly idea.
They are making you use other abilities rather than zerker/dps utilities. Condition removal/stability. Widen your arsenal.
There are places around that you can take a breather. Usually I find most along the edges of the map, sometimes you’ll have to get on top of some rocks.
Yeah, I don’t like mapping Orr either. In fact my main is sitting at needing 3 maps to finish and two of them are in Orr. I just don’t like going there. It’s annoying. (and before someone says, it’s supposed to be hard, easy stuff can be annoying). I don’t mind running in a zerg there but I haven’t run into any zerg mapping groups. :P
than not then
/15char
Wow, seriously, I know the skills of players vary far and large, but Orr’s difficulty has been dumbed down so much since the game’s release. I have completed the “old” Orr and have never found them hard.
If you worry too much about dying while in chat, don’t chat, and WP out, or get out of combat and head to HoM, or hit WvWvW button, or simply go to Character select, use another char in safe zone, or other work around. You know you can die and you won’t get penalized much, this game’s death penalty is the most unpunishing it’s funny.
And if you value your friend much, don’t worry about dying in game. Just chat and say your hi and hello. If you die, you can just go to the area again and do it again at a later time. If you think your time is too valuable that you can’t afford a re-try, be prepared for a whole lot of grief, not everyone is talented and skillful that they can breeze thru everything. Some part of this game requires some patience, not overly difficult (granted, it’s relative to player skills and PC specs), I haven’t killed Liadri yet after 5tries and I have known more who have tried for than 20×.
p.s.
If people becomes invul in chat mode, it’ll be open for abuse i.e. players can head to a target location in chat mode ignoring all other mobs or not taking damage while the mob went elsewhere losing agro.

Well #1, you need an Exploration buddy. The Buddy system is VERY important for certain map completion objectives.
But the other thing I wanted to say…. is if you think this is bad, you should try Planetside2.
THAT GAME literally gave me an Ulcer. And I don’t mean “oh it p***ed me off really bad”, no I mean 2 different doctors, 1 internist, and 1 psychiatrist, both diagnosed it as stress induced b/c blood tests showed no biological causation or preconditions towards it. And the only “stressful” thing in my day was that game. I quit it immediately and played GW2 to relax for a few months and now it’s in remission. Yes Gw2 can have some frustrating points in it. But it’s not the worst, not by a long shot. And if you stop what you’re doing and take more time to re-evaluate your strategy and daily routine in it, or just plain old ask for help…. it can actually be stress-relieving.
It’s all in your approach :\ …(yet another reason for the buddy system, constructive socializing like the buddy system is very helpful therapeutic usually)

If by the mists you mean WvW, sure. If you mean the SPvP lobby, you can only exit them through a portal to LA afaik.

It is the crossed swords in the tool bar. You can go into the lobby anytime from anywhere. People have used it so they didn’t have to pay a WP fee to get to LA from where ever they are.
Wait, are you telling me that I have played this game for 1 year without knowing I can leave SPvP without using the portal to LA?

Maybe learn to touch type?
I can’t think of a single thing in Orr that requires you to be so careful you can’t even send off a tell or two.
Wait, are you telling me that I have played this game for 1 year without knowing I can leave SPvP without using the portal to LA?
…
I got what you were asking back wards. Had to re-read it a few times.
I know that you can enter WvW and not have to go to LA, you just have to log out and back in and you’ll be where you were in PvE.
Not sure about PvP lobby.
Sorry, headache and got things backwards.
Wait, are you telling me that I have played this game for 1 year without knowing I can leave SPvP without using the portal to LA?

isn’t just relogging the character putting you back into the PvE-world?
If you relog while in WvW, you go back to PvE in the spot you were before. If you relog while in the heart of the mists, you are still in the heart of the mists
But apparently you can exit heart of the mists through the button you used to join it and be ported back in the exact same spot you were. :O

All you have to do is open the sPvP window, crossed swords, and click the giant “Leave the Heart of the Mists” button and it will take you right back to where you were in the PvE World.
OP I don’t understand how you can have any sort of difficulty whatsoever in Orr……..

Orr used to be worse.
A lot worse.
In fact, people cry now because the changes essentially killed zerg farming (before the champion update) due to the decrease in mob density.
I’m proud to say I mapped that SOB when it was crawling with undead, but if it were in the same state today as it was then I wouldn’t do it a second time.

Nope, you can go back to exactly where you were in the world.
Click on the crossed swords, and select enter the mists. That puts you in the PvP lobby. Click on the crossed swords again, and select leave the mists. You end up exactly where you were in the world.
I do this all the time, because my real life often requires me to take sudden breaks.

Cool.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
If you have it, the HoM Portal Stone does the exact same thing, except with the added benefit of not having your chat log clogged up with conversations from random strangers in the Heart of the Mists.
Wait a sec, hostile enemies attack you???? Madness I say!
Wait, are you telling me that I have played this game for 1 year without knowing I can leave SPvP without using the portal to LA?

And by SPvP, you mean Heart of the Mist?
Remember when going into the mist, when you click the crossed swords, and hit the “Go to HoTM” button?
When in HoTM, that same button changes to “Leave the Mist” button, and clicking it will return you to where you left off in PvE before going into the mist.
Good stuff.
Teamspeak, Mumble, Ventrillo, etc. Great programs. Some are free even.
Also, Orr isn’t that hard to run around in unless it takes you a really long time to read a sentence.
Characters- Levicus (Ele); Levicus Gear (Eng);
Levicus Shield (War)
The only really hard parts to get to are the contested temples. And even then you can solo your way to the SP and WP of any contested temple if you use a bit of strategy and stability. Yes, that includes Arah.
Make you invulnerable while chatting? “Guys we’re going to get wiped by Lupi, everybody else chat”. Eternal conversations with Lupi!:P
Play League of Legends you will rage harder
Or DOTA 2 when you realise your match is filled with Ex-LOL players.
OP should try arguing with my mother.

To add to this request, i would like to add a feature where, while i’m at work, a young Indonesian boy can play the game for me. It’s not fair that I have to suffer downtime in the game for real life obligations…i mean anet should really do something about this.
while i’m at it—is there a way they can make my wallet generate a small amount of gold continuously over time? It’s really not fair that i have to play the game to accumulate currency.
kthx for listening guys
Orr is tame compared to the past. You used to get spam pulled over and over, sometimes pulling other mobs too who also pull you.

IMO Orr needs further refinement. The majority of the zone doesn’t need to be coated in mob aggro radius. My issue is less about chatting and more about the simple act of traveling.
Exploring in an MMO is fun. Traveling/running to get from point A to point B is not. Past games have used running as a timesink but GW2 gives us waypoints so we can meet up with friends or hit events rather than wasting time trying to GET to something fun.
Then ArenaNet decides to throw this brilliant design concept out the window with zones like Orr or Southsun where a lack of waypoints and mobs that stun and make simply navigating the zone a pain in the kitten. Either stun-spam mobs or lack of waypoints could work alone but having both combine to make something that not so much about entertainment as being a deliberately annoying. (Although stun-spam mobs are a mechanic I wouldn’t mind seeing vanishing from MMOs. Particularly when hearing about what games like Wildstar are doing to innovate CC)
ArenaNet clearly realized they went too far with Orr and tried to improve things, it still needs more work. Southsun and every freaking karka on Tyria could just be nuked and I’d be fine with that.

I don’t see orr as that bad TBH…. actually considering it’s supposed to be the end-zone of the game and in state of all out war, I think it’s rather tame (I kinda liked it better the way it was before). And TBH, I’ve never found myself in a situation where I couldn’t just quickly WP somewhere safe if I needed to talk to someone. Granted, I would have probably do a lot of running to go back to where I was before WPing.
If you find stuns so annoying, then just get any stun breaking skills your class might have and use them, AFAIK every profession gets more than one (might be wrong, tough, only tried few of them myself).

Nor watched DDO fall completely apart. I do, howver, agree – most of Orr is difficult only in anger management over annoyances.
