I spent athe better part of my evening trying out the new player experience.. and let me tell you.. I enjoy it a lot.. but that is not why I have come here…
What drew me to make this thread is that ANet has redone the Opening Cut scenes! and that are FANTASTIC… Oh My lordy you guys have done an incredible job with that. I am glad that it wasn’t announced in the patch notes (at least I didn’t read that change) but to discover it on my own I was floored. Thanks so much for revisiting this touch.
PS- Keep your negative thoughts about the patch to other more relevant threads. This one is about the new cut scenes. Anyone else see them? =)

Anet changed the Beginning Cut scenes the ones you get when you first make a character. They aren’t completely redone (though the Sylvari one was a drastic change), but they have new graphics added and its just very lovely.
I made a sylvari just to see the “new” opening cutscene…. are you sure you just haven’t seen it in quite a while, and have just forgotten about the details? Last I’ve seen it a month before the patch, and compared to that, nothing has changed.
(I chose the white stag story and “act with wisdom, but act”)
New leveling changes were awful. Guardian dont have virtues now until you get far enough leveling… lol, god I wish I was trolling. Good job making game dumber and more tedious than ever.
The only difference to the last time I did the Sylvari story is that my character isn’t naked anymore when he leaves the dream, which is illogical and probably only changed because some 12 year old kids could get the wrong message…
I just made a new char to check this out. Human. I can say that I am sure this is as the OP says. The scene seems longer, a bit different and not only that they seem to have added scenes to reflect which PS (lvl 10) you have chosen.
I chose the common (key farmers friend :P) and they added an extra scene that I have not seen before. After this guy I’m gonna check all races with all the different PS lvl 10 options just to see all the new scenes – enjoy everyone!

I have to admit not in a very long time but that extra scene was still new to me. Perhaps I just hadn’t noticed all the extra lvl 10 PS story add ons before….

I don’y know when tehy added it but it is definitely newish (within the last few months becuase I just made a different character not long before the first feature pack and it wasn’t the same). There are new scenes the characters actually move around at times, etc. They refined it very nicely using some of their new cut scene tech that they’ve been doing LS stuff with.
