Only ONE Look on Ascended Armour.....
With the way the wardrobe is now, I honestly don’t think it’s that big of an issue. In fact, I think you’d find a lot of players would be very angry with more unique looks added to the “ascended grind.”

I disagree. The more variety of unique skins, the better. I’ll never understand why people want to settle for mediocrity. I’d rather have Anet improve and update their armor collections, instead of just settling for what we have.
To be honest, here is the facts. If you’re going to implement something, you gotta do it right from day one. This is an area in my opinion that has not excelled in this game. Ascended armour provides no advantage over exotic. The increase in stats is barely marginal. The only benefit to it is that one can insert additional agony resist via versatile slots. To craft any one piece of ascended armour will cost a player at least 100 gold provided they are already at 500 crafting. Currently buying agony resist off trading post is 55gold for +10. This makes it is far better and cheaper to just make ascended trinkets, insert pre made AR and never touch ascended armour at all. To introduce new skins now only upsets those who have ascended armour and weren’t given the choice of look from the start.
Each birthday a player gets a magic bonus of 100%. The max MF one can have is 300%. I currently have 121% MF. So with my booster, foods and wvw bonus I got my MF to 268%. This gives me an idea of whether aiming for that is worth it. After running fractals lvl 39/spvp/multiple dungeons and mapping multiple times over and over I had accumulated 6 rares, 7 t6 materials. So this shows me it is not worth it. I would make more selling my drops than salvaging them to increase magic find. Again, not implemented well. Even at extra high MF numbers the rares and drop rates were unspectacular to be polite.
Legendaries have the same stats have ascended weapons. The only difference is that legendaries can swap stats out of combat. Now considering most players can’t swap builds without entirely swapping armour, sigils, runes and trinkets means most players won’t swap. Therefore once you have a legendary, there is no reason to make another. Just craft ascended weapon and imprint a legendary skin on it via wardrobe. The only reason to make a second or third legendary is if you want that particular skin,. If it is for any other reason outside of that, just craft ascended and buy any number of skin mods off trading post and save yourself a ton-o-gold, time and frustration and grind.
A lot of the implementation of the changes over the last year have good and smooth, but they have also narrowed any reason to set a goal in game and aim for it. Ascended armour is just another example of this. No variation in skin, no real stat benefit, not that useful for AR slotting nowadays= it was myopically implemented.
Why not just add it to the gem store. Paying 100g for a look is better than paying 500g.
Um… why not just apply a different skin to your armor, so it looks different?
Or, are you saying you want more armor skins behind a “grind wall”?

Personally I’m all for Anet adding more armor. The more diversity the better, I already run into too many people with my sets of armor. However I wouldn’t want it locked behind ascended skins. Add more exotic skins, sure, but ascended is too much of a pain for too small a reward. Because an exotic piece can be skinned with an ascended skin and vice versa, the skin itself doesn’t mean much.
Not sure how this would work, there’s only one Exotic craft armor. Would they have to implement Karma/dungeon Ascended?
We have ONE look on ascended gear (per armour class)…. Exotics have loads… all other rarities also have loads.
I wish there could be (at least) one more ascended armour look added soon…. Made with the same care and love as the existing set (thinking of how well u’ve been dealing with clipping, “dye-ability”, fitting in general etc – for all races).
Anyone who agrees with me?
The reason we have one Ascended look is due to the time constraints in acquiring the gear.
Can you imagine the uproar if Sentinels or Clerics gear had a better look than Bezerker (which is what most seem to run)?
No one wants to spend one month & hundreds of gold crafting a set of armour, just for the look.
Meh, I’m fine with the one look for each ascended set tbh. You can still get fairly creative and they blend well with other skins.
My ele for example
I do not believe the skins should be the main purpose of Ascended Gear. Getting a full set of Ascended, especially if it is Light Armor, is tedious. It is better we get the looks we want some other way.
I craft ascended armor pieces for the stats.
Then I use any combination of skins I fancy that day.
The ascended armor came with a new skin because people keep asking for new skins and if it had been a kittenty reskin people would have gone nuts.

There is only one look to Masquerade Armor, for example. So ’Zerker Masquerade looks the same a Knights, etc. Ascended armor follows in the same vein. That is why there is only one look – one look with many inscriptions – Light Ascended all looks the same – so does Medium and Heavy. It goes with the tradition of this game.
