Gw2, from my experience, is the only game which you can spend countless hours grinding for a item you really want, but not get it. Gw2 is a great game but the RNG and lack of options to obtain certain armor/weaps is really depressing. I dont know if its because NCsoft wanted it this way so people buy more gems or what, but this really needs to change.

That comes down to perspective. There’s no “necessary” grind in this game really – nothing you need, whether it is basic gear or levels etc is grindy. It is however, grindy in relation to the cosmetic stuff that you want and that’s partly what they wanted. I agree they went too far with what you need for some things, but it’s debatable whether it is the worst mmo for grind.
..I’m playing TSW as we speak and that is FAR worse.

True on the farming gold, but it does mean everything is obtainable with time and more so than most MMO’s allow. It just gets locked behind the “non essential grinding” factor discussed above. I ultimately prefer this system, but would welcome improvemenst to the RNG system to make it less unforgiving.

Its an very low grind game for the one fact that you get your own loot and your own nods that alone make the out put of items for time greatly higher in your favor. There also use for every item in the game in that you can beak down lower end armor to get crafting mats to make higher end armor. I think nothing been proven because at best ppl on the side saying its grindly only have one argument and that is saying it takes time to get something and that not a grind that is a time gap there is a big differences.
The way ppl view what grind is i have got to say is out right sad and sicking. Its like any type of work is being called a grind. “What you mean i have to do an event more then once to get something it must be a grind” that type of thinking is the worst and it WILL kill any type of long run games because games like mmorpgs live off of time consumption the ones that charges fee tend to have much longer time gaps in-fact to keep you playing longer.

I must agree with that a great deal.
Think of it like this what is “end game?” For a lot of ppl its to raid or fight big bosses. Well why do they do this or do they want to? Most of the time its for loot or skins. What would happen if the boss or raid drops it 100%? No one would run it after they got there loot. That means you MUST be there the first time that ppl are running it or your not going to get it done. To have a type of RNG keeps playing coming back to events so new players can do them too.

I am not complain about not getting items, its about how you get the items. It pure farm gold buy matts its not like your doing, lets say, 10 Dynamic events on each map, collecting a certain token. After you have done that, you combine all tokens and get a item on the lvl of Volcanus. This is just a example, im not saying that how it should work.

There is no logical path to take to work tword acquiring something beyond buying gems and converting them to gold.
DR aka the diminishing return on farming materials was the first big red flag all of us caught onto.
The amount of materials required to craft desirable items is substantial yet the game does not allow us the ability to farm them ourselves. It forces us to farm or buy gold.
If they removed the DR I think a good portion of this problem would die as players would feel they have at least a chance of getting something for their time invested.

The reason why everyone farms the way they do in gw2 is because that is the only viable farm. Why do fractals when running the champ train is more profitable? That is what most ppl think. The way i play gw2 is i do w.e I feel like doing. I’ll try to solo a dungeon, ill do dungeon story mode with newbies, I run around areas looking for cool events to do. I try to enjoy the content Anet wanted us to play, not some gindy champ train.

Its the easiest afk farming there is is why there no real work into it and you can chat with ppl when your doing it in a way it can be very fun and i would take that over solo farming any day in any game (i still have nightmares farming bees with other ppl in ff11 you had to tag them before others or you got nothing). Dungeons give gold and loot but that seem not the reason why your doing them so why would you think to get more loot? Your coming off as saying i am having fun but i want more loot. If any thing Dungeons give you tokens to buy rares that you can brake down into ecto to craft other items or to sell its not at the best rates for GW2 but its still a lot better then most games.
I keep hearing the same thing over and over from so many players.
They do not feel rewarded for their time investment.
I truly hope Anet is catching onto this.
But how with out just destroying the ability of gold to buy items and skin? You cant just throw gold at ppl for free (items too if they can be sold or broken down). There is a system in play that need to be used to keep gold at a good value. In GW1 gold become unless and it become an ecto system same thing happen in D2 where SoJ where the ways to buy things not the in game gold. Gold or money is made to be the end all be all way of buying and selling goods it needs to be some what hard to get to keep some type of value to it.

What’s the point in playing a game you have .76% chance in 2109 tries of getting something you desire aka a precursor.
What’s the point of playing a game in which you kill one of the hardest bosses in game 80 time’s (Teq) and open all 80 bags and receive nothing but blues and greens.

It really depends on what you regard as grind. I tend to regard things as grind when its repetitive and boring, as well as necessary to progress in the game.
In the case of precursors, its not exactly repetitive since you directly get it by basically doing whatever you want until it just drops, and it certainly isn’t necessary to progress to anywhere in the game.
What it is is an ‘extra’. You don’t need it, but its there in case you want to get an item you can show off.

I am not complain about not getting items, its about how you get the items. It pure farm gold buy matts its not like your doing, lets say, 10 Dynamic events on each map, collecting a certain token. After you have done that, you combine all tokens and get a item on the lvl of Volcanus. This is just a example, im not saying that how it should work.
So are saying Anet should just hand everyone a cool item just because u grind for a certain amount of time? What’s the point of the game if everyone has the same item and pol who don’t work hard gets the same s…t as u do
You clearly do not understand what I am trying to get to. This is about not wanting to spend time grinding for a item. It is about what you have to do to obtain a item. Its not like I can grind fractals and get a Ascended armor set, or I cant run a set amount of dungeons for Foefire’s essence or do a chain of difficult quest to get a precursor.
Of u don’t want to spend time grinding for an item then just don’t get that item period. This is Guild Wars and if this is how they set the rules of getting a cool and if u want it then follow the steps.

That is not the point of this post. It isnt about me. It is about the game in general. This is a huge flaw in the game, imo, and should be changed.
Sorry I have a hard time taking someone serious that boasts multiple legendaries, items, and gold when they complain about not being able to get items.
If he has enough disposable income he can have multiple legendarys in less then 5 minutes.
For the rest of us – It is a completely different story.

What’s the point in playing a game you have .76% chance in 2109 tries of getting something you desire aka a precursor.
What’s the point of playing a game in which you kill one of the hardest bosses in game 80 time’s (Teq) and open all 80 bags and receive nothing but blues and greens.

This has nothing to do with the speed of obtaining something. It is the way the items r obtained. I dont know what ppl dont understand about this.

So your not getting my point at all i am saying a money system IS a token system your just more restricted in a token system on what you can buy then say a REAL money system (gold what it called in this game) to buy your items. What you should be asking for is to have more items that are on a RNG to be sell-able.

Also, the token system you mention is controlled by Anet which is understandable since that is how they make their revenue.
It doesn’t have to be a token system. It was just a exmaple. Any other system would work if implemented right.
