Option to Key-bind Loot/Interact
Agreed. PITKitten.
ArenaNet could simply code the game so that it always prefer looting, and second then revive (it is so annoying if I try to revive someone but all I get is talk with some NPC who stands there idle around).
I would rather have a separation in interact with opjects and persons, so that my character don’t start talking when I actually try to repair the gate in WvW or just want to interact with some item for one of those heart quests. Because I don’t see how there a priority could work, sometimes I want to talk with the NPC instead of picking up the weapon which lies next to him.
Yea, I had considered that but figured it would be easier for them to add the key-bind option than to try and code a priority system. I agree though that an additional key-bind option for Revive and/or Item Interact would also be nice. At least it makes some sense for Interacting with an NPC and an Item to be on the same key, annoying as it might be sometimes, but I don’t think Looting should have ever been bound to the same key, at least not without an option to change it.
Why did they ever do that to begin with?
I fully agree that this is a tremendous annoyance when it comes to playing and that adding such an option would improve the game tenfold.
They addressed this issue in the patch a few days ago:

Interact “F” should use the following priority:
1) Your current selection
2) Loot
3) Revive/Stomp
4) Anything else
Being able to separately bind Loot, Interact, and Revive would take up more keys, but offers a greater ability to control priority, and that control can be the difference between saving a dying player or chatting with the nearest NPC while you’re in the middle of fighting a boss.
Interact “F” should use the following priority:
1) Your current selection
2) Loot
3) Revive/Stomp
4) Anything else
I like how looting is higher priority than reviving.

Odd, my boyfriend and I have noticed no change when playing, we still get frustrated trying to loot items that have dropped under the NPCs.
I still believe simply adding an option in the Key-binding section would be preferable.
I’d just be happy enough if this at least got a reply and closed like most of the suggestion threads. :p
