I apparently chose the wrong order on my guardian. I wanted to choose vigil but I picked whispers apparently. I submitted a ticket and haven’t heard anything so I’m coming to the forums for help. Can you help me please? Thanks.

We cannot make changes to the order that you have selected. I agree with Pecar — character recreation is the way to go.

Wow that is so unfortunate. I have alot of time invested on my guardian to just recreate it would be foolish. Thanks. Guess I will find something else to do then. How hard is it to just reset the storyline. Its not like I leveled the story all the way to 80 then decided to change.

I too enjoyed the whispers storyline more than the vigil one, so my advice is to just roll with it!

The order is not that big of a deal, don’t let that ruin the fun for you and just pick Vigil on you next character.
At the end, all the storylines are interesting, so if I were you I’d give them all a chance.

I doubt its a simple as resetting the storyline. Rollbacks are never easy.

You have to consider if you will get rewards again the 2nd time around..if not that requires coding..if yes is it fair to other players.

How far back will you roll the story? What about the achievement progress..does it stay or go.

Is the code to unlock order armor activated when choosing..if yes thats more coding to reset it.
I dont know much about code but it seems complicated for a minor issue.
Hopefully you can understand why Anet doesnt do these kind of rollbacks especially just for individuals.

Nah I have already had it unlocked on my other character. Its just that I Really wanted my guardian to be vigil.. doesnt make much sense to have a guardian in whispers… its all good. Thanks.

I’d like to +1 the OP’s wish for an opportunity to reset your storyline.

I have a mesmer I initiated into the Whispers, that I really want to move over to the Priory. I understand DSavants frustration quite well. Too much time invested to make a new character. Too strong an opinion of who you think your characters should be (a roleplaying gene I suppose), to keep playing the PS on “wrong order”.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand the massive coding job this might be. But if it’s possible, it is certainly something I would be willing to pay a lot of gems for.
(I would NOT expect it to be a free choice)

@DSavant: No offense to Gaile, but that advice is wrong. There is definitely a work around to joining the wrong order. Feel free to whisper me or mail me ingame and I’ll tell you exactly what you need to do to change over to The Vigil. It’s pretty simple really and shouldn’t take more than an hour or so. Maybe only a couple of minutes depending on a few factors.

Isn’t there a way to do it by doing someone else’s storyline as a party, then choosing mission complete or something? It sets you to whatever choice they made, right?

It will change the story you experience for that arc…and subsequent arcs if you always join someone else’s instance at the end of the arc who is playing the Order storyline you desire…
…but, it will not move you from one Order to another. You will still only be able to buy your original Order’s gear, etc. Playing with someone else and following their storyline only affects the story.

Yes, I believed that this thread was based on a request to completely reset the Order, not move to a different storyline. There’s a difference, right? As Ic points out, there’s an incompleteness to the “work around” that doesn’t accomplish what I believed the OP was requesting.

No worries, Palador. Sharing the info was just fine because it may meet the OP’s objectives. I’m not sure, but helpful posts are always appreciated!

It seemed like the story was his primary concern when he mentioned resetting the storyline. I didn’t notice any references to gear skins and figured those weren’t a priority seeing as he’s invested a lot of time into his Guard. I have an 80 alt warrior still at PS lvl 30 (Warrior so boring to me) and was just gonna take him through myself since the thread was only a few minutes old but he had logged out anyway. He must’ve got click happy though to skip the several ‘are you sure’ type dialogues.

I think somebody touched a little on this, but if its the armor you are going for, just make another character you want and this time make sure to get Vigil, and at the end of I think personal story step lvl 40-50 you will be able to buy the gear and unlock it to the wardrobe and use it on non Vigil Order characters.
If its the story you want, well to bad. Might have to come up with a different story in your head about what your character was like before joining an order ^^

Dungeons being about how fast you clear then compared to being able to clear them makes me sad.

I think it would be good if Anet could create a way to change Orders. People might join one order and then find out they would rather be in another. Since Orders are a Roleplay thing it only makes sense to be able to roleplay what you like. And I don’t like the answer of “reroll”. Some people make investments (time, effort, thinking up a story, not just gold or whatever) in creating a character that they don’t want to have to try to reproduce. And why should they? IRL I can change my college degree while still in school, I can change my career even if I’ve been doing the same thing for 20 years, etc. Its normal for people to change their mind as time goes by.
