Orr is dead, most group/temple events can not be done.

Orr is not dead on my server. Unless you frequent all servers, which I suspect you haven’t, you have no business making such false blanket claims.

His statement is based in his perspective, which is his server. Just because your server is not “dead” in Orr doesn’t entitle you to throw out his concern. You did exactly what you bashed him for — nice work.

Anyway, Orr is dead on my server as well (Yak’s). I’ve been waiting for days for Melandru’s to open up or enough bodies to show up to do it.

It’s a mixed bag for ANet to put in the temple content. It’s there to encourage participation, but at the same time it’s unusable by the few in Orr if there are insufficient players to perform the content.

There are a few ideas floated already about reviving activity in Orr. However the introduction of Fractals has really killed the “end game” for everything but fractals. I don’t see that changing as long as fractals remains more compelling than anything else in the game (you can fill in the blank with your own reasons for “compelling” as it’s different by Player).

Since the Nov 15th patch, the drops in world NPCs have gone to kitten. I’ve killed enough champs while doing my daily gathering runs to say that you’re lucky if you get a green or blue out of them.

That was exactly where I was going with “fill in your defintion of compelling”. Players feel compelled to do fractals because of multiple reasons:

1. Better drops than ANYWHERE else in the game
2. Gear grind for ascended (vertical progression)
3. More entertaining than existing content
4. Can’t find players to do anything else
5. Some other reason here…

And those are ones I thought up in 30 seconds of thinking about it. Personally I’m in fractals for #2 — gear grind. I’ve run to level 10, and then level 10 about 5 more times trying to get ascended ring drops. I’m really not interested in running it so much, but where else to get the ascended gear? Where else to get exotic gear drops from trash mobs?

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

Kinda saw stuff like this coming when the game released and was my biggest concern about GW2. The dynamic events were a awesome idea, and a lot of fun…but regardless of how popular a game is, or hyped, it eventually dies down…and what happens to these events that require a large amount of players to complete? They get left undone and newer players suffer…

“inb4” “Join a guild and bug them to come help you do it”…While we’re at it why dont we spam gaming sites and forums to come as well? lol cus thats about as logical as that is…Hopefully theyll eventually add a decent party finder so those who want to group up for orr can gather and run it together

And we all learned this years ago from Warhammer Online which invented the dynamic events. But hey! Why do something new if we can copy stuff and sell it to people as new because they either forgot or never new about the other game.

“The DR System is not restricting players, it just here to help them realize how they want to play!”

Well, even increased traffic can’t fix how the events bug out about a third of the time. Tried Balthazar today with guildies and some other folks, wound up with an NPC stuck in place and no way to progress the state of the quest forward.

You could make Orr completely soloable, and create instanced 10-20 man raid versions of all 3 maps. Make open world Orr easy for pugs to learn the area, so they can get experienced enough to enter the raid versions of those maps.
It would satisfy a lot of people who want raids with greatly reduced effort, as the terrain and NPCs have already been created and just need to be repurposed for raiding events.

When I 1st got on orr I kinda felt this way, but I’ve had fun once I got used to Orr. Some of the dynamic events can be done solo and the peeps that are there usually are available to help out. I think I’ve enjoyed Orr more then any map.

I just wonder why didn’t you realise it yet.

Where is our “downflow” system?

So slow development….

Why have a downflow system when you could easily solve many of the games issues by introducing the district mechanic which is what Guild Wars 1 used? I mean it’ll solve many of the games problems such as the lack of a guesting feature, difficulty joining your friends server due to it always being full and those annoying overflow/queue popups.

Before anyone who believes that this would effect WvW greatly, it won’t. You’ll still have a ‘home server’ you fight for but it when it comes to PvE, the GW2 community won’t be divided for the sake of WvW.

I think that’s exactly what a downflow server is — the equivalent of districting (but doing it automatically).

Hello everyone,

please stop discussion the thread name, it’s completely unrelated to the topic and disrespectful to the users who take this discussion seriously and want to talk about the topic.

Thank you

In all fairness, if they want to take this discussion seriously, they would not have made the 5,286th thread on the exact same topic. We already have a ridiculous amount of threads on this topic. You should be merging this thread, deleting, or locking it for violation of the CoC, long before lecturing the any of the off topic mentionings.

That would make sense if this concern had actually been answered. But it hasn’t. That’s why you see duplicate threads.

In any case, I agree with the OP, Lost Shores and FotM destroyed the PvE zone gameplay completely. It’s a ghost town.

The game I paid for doesn’t even exist any more, except as a pale shadow of its former self, completely unpopulated.

That’s what happens when you create content that has better drops than any other content in the game, is the only place to obtain best in slot gear, and then go and nerf drops in regular PvE.

This problem could have been avoided with even a couple of minutes of thought on the consequences of these actions, but I guess that’s unimportant compared to catering to the WoW-locusts/making the game into a Korean-style super-grindfest in order to drive gem sales.

I’m leveling another characters to 80. I can tell that last 3 maps are real pain now. These zones are virtually emty even I do live on heavy loades server. I’m pounced by miriads of undead and no help around. Simple task to discover all POIs in zone is monument pile of grind thru all these bodies. It was never like this before. 90% of WP are contested so when I does die I need to run over whole map back.

1st of all risen got bigh boost from game realease in numbers and respawn time because these zones were overloaded by people. Nobody on Arena did tone it down then, but now situation is oposite, zones have low population and mobs are on steriods. It is simply impossible even I do team with someone from guild and we run in group, often we find ourselve in situation when we fought couple of veterans and barely survive. Doing DE with champion is impossible to complete just with 5 people. These events are sized for groups at least 10 people to contest any temple in last three maps. These temples are now for weeks owned by risens.

I think Arena need to do something with this. Even other maps surfers same syndrome, but at least these mobs aren’t on steriods like in Orr. So other maps are doable if I would ignore DE with champions. These maps have no contested WP or only few of them and can be taken back because boss there is just veteran and can be soloed if need.

Please I beg you Arena if you want new people in and do their progress tone down Orr’s mobs on steroids. Density of risen in Orr is horrible.

For the hassle of the map, the really limited loot drops and whats needed to grind to get stuff these days, those maps aren’t worth players times anymore..

FotM saw to that in one foul swoop, the whole dungeon ruined this game and divided most of the player base.

@ Berelious Red Dwarf!

On a more serious note I’d raised a thread in regards to merging the PvE between multiple servers, as numbers increase/decrease ArenaNet could respond accordingly.

EDIT: Another thought occurred to me that if a guild was to significantly participate in some of the bigger events that get neglected that guild gets some form of member wide buff. It would be another way to get participation in these events.

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

Of course it is dead it is full of zombies lol.
What the real issue is :
Anet nerfed open world loot drops and increased timers on events in orr in order to make people buy gems to convert to gold.
Because the only place to get gold and teh awesome gear is to grind fracs over and over and over you stay in LA. They funneled everyone to 1 thing.
So if you dont do dungeons and do open world stuff you spend 5X the work and time for the reward and by consequence give up.
They let the game stagnate so that people will buy gems and convert to gold or grind fracs.

This is kinda an exaggeration and all actions listed are not necessarily linked to each other, its a great conspiracy but even though the conspiracy is false all things you mentioned are true. So it reflects the current state of the game, however your representation of that is false but is comprised of true things. What I’m trying to say is it doesn’t matter how you get somewhere if the end result is the same. While what you are saying is constructed in a way that this is kinda shady, the intention of A-Net may have not been shady but the end result is shady.

The bottom line is ALWAYS money, and there’s always someone at the top pushing the bottom line.

I agree the higher undead zones are almost impossible to navigate in the current state. I just don’t see the people that the zone is acting like are there. Its like its been put into overdrive and just left there. In per-purchase beta the game was responding at one time to local player population and it doesn’t seem to be working properly now.

Many people here is concerning about what Server you play, “my server is dead”, “my server is full”.

I will tell you, it does not matter.

If there is a hundred servers, if just one has this problem, the game experience is broken.
Got it?

It is not about, my server is empty, let’s change. All servers MUST be playable, lived and fun.

People leaving “empty servers” makes this problem worst.

Although there were many topics here with awesome ideas and things that make Orr what is now a days, I hope A-net take care of “thinking about”.

Some like:

-“guilds can earn prestige by capturing and holding waypoints.”
-“weekly achievement + reward for Orr to encourage people to play it.”
-“Anet nerfed open world loot drops and increased timers on events in orr in order to make people buy gems to convert to gold.” —> Nerfing Orr was a huge mistake.
-“So if you dont do dungeons and do open world stuff you spend 5X the work and time for the reward and by consequence give up.”
-“…it isn’t fun and the number of people willing to do it for Legendary is very low.”
-“nothing that a good grouping tool cant fix..”
-“Actually fractals in my opinion ruined the game. And thats my opinion and i dnt care what others say.” —> Total agree !

I also would say to try, as soon as possible, to fix all bugs before releasing new content.

Ok so I came back after not playing since the patch launch. I quit for some time back then because Orr was empty (surprise) and I thought it was all the events going on. I could get a party of two, tops. Today, I don’t even get answered in the chat box.
I wanted to get exotics in Orr, finish my personal story, but with every waypoint contested, events that don’t trigger, etc, I can’t progress at all. Everyday I login it takes 5 min before I go “meh, kitten this” and go play something else. It’s a shame. It’s a great game that’s being harmed by this one zone for so many people in so many servers (except the “What are you talking about my server is full” people).
Add to that the frustration of bringing it up on the server multiple times and get no answer. If the gameplay makes some of us almost quit, the lack of communication and the apparent purposely ignoring of this issue pushes us to do it.

As of now, I can’t play.
Sure I can do other things. However, I don’t think it’s ilegitimate to play expecting to be able to do the things I want.

I haven’t checked Fractals yet, even. If that’s a one place everyone is flocking to, then tey should have picked this up as a sign that something is wrong. Hell, maybe I should just go there and forget the rest of the game ever existed.

I suspect a part of the perceived “empty” area issue is that there is no “real” starting point in any area where “safe” congregation is possible. All of the entry points to/from an area are “combat-rich” environments themselves———-including, in most cases, the waypoints (which have to be “found” first to be of use). If you look at GW1, most of the combat areas are separated by (at worst) neutral towns, points where congregations was possible. In GW2, even the towns themselves are “under siege”, and do not provide even the “illusion” of safety.
