Out of 10, what would you rate this year's GW2 Halloween Event?
a solid 8.5/9/10.
One of the best if not the best Halloween event ingame i had in a LONG LONG time.
Would have been a 10 , but was a little bit dissapointed by the last event.
I come from FFXI and FFXIV. The events in those two games look completely dull and half kittened compared to what they did here.
I would rate it impressed/10.
Take it as you will.
9/10
Started off a little bumpy with the Black Lion Chests but other than that it was a lot of fun and so much to do. Blew away any holidy content I’ve seen in other games. Can’t wait to see what Wintersday is like.
10/10
Enjoyed all parts of the event.
Sanctum of Rall
“Quaggan’s a piwate! Yarr!” – “Pirate”
10/10
Perfect.
Concept: 8 / 10
Art, sound & choreographed events: 8 / 10
Effectiveness as a celebration: 8 / 10
Playability: 5 / 10 (low rating mostly due to bugs, poor quest design, and difficulty)
Social interaction: 6 / 10 (event oddly didn’t promote a lot of active socialising)
Memorableness: 9 / 10
Fun: 7 / 10

To compare it with my Halloween experiences in other MMOs:
- It was in the same style as a World of Warcaft Halloween or a DC Universe Online Halloween, but the GW2 Halloween was just better in every way, most notably scale and complexity.
- It was quite different from a Guild Wars 1 Halloween, which were much simpler and more focused on player socialising. I prefer that simple style of seasonal event, and therefore liked the GW1 version better.
Compared to any holiday event in any other MMO ever? Definitely a 10.
Rating purely out of how much fun and amazing it was? 8.5 to a 9.
It was overall really great but some things could have been done better, and I know they probably didn’t have much time to test etc. I am not complaining, just being honest. The clock tower could have been done better, although I’m not sure how, without making it instanced. The oversized characters were incredibly annoying and hard to focus while doing the puzzle.
I only accomplished it when I did because I was the only one that made it up, would have been improbable with a stupid charr in my face. I failed 90% of the time because of this.
The pumpkin achievement wasn’t something I would expect from ANet, largely boring and unimaginatively grindy. I just entered overflows to keep resetting the pumpkins. I wouldn’t have even considered it without that method. I forget the mini game name but people hiding outside of the map and running around with a slooooow character was so boring I just left the game half the time.
The rest was great, mad king fight was interesting and funneh. Always has been one of my favorite GW characters.
ANet always has the best holidays. Oh and ToT bags, those have always been awesome since GW1. And I got an exotic recipe (dang you, EL tonics! next time!) from them

Loved the costume brawl. Haven’t had so much fun knocking people over since before snowballs were nerfed in WoW.
3/10. I played 100% of the event and got all of the achievements and even a few weapon skins from some of my buddies. I had a lot more fun in the GW1 events than I did in the GW2 equivalent so far.
I’m hoping Christmas isn’t this much of a flop. If it wasn’t for the event being about who has the most gold and being about making money instead of having fun I’d be inclined to rate it higher, but as it stands the only people who enjoyed the event the most were the ones who made hundreds of gold off of it.

8.5/10
It worked and it was fun, overall I think it was about pretty average or above average in the things they added.
I’ve played a lot of different mmo’s and most of them just give you a extra dungeon here and there or just try to make you buy a bunch of their Halloween themed skins.
The one BIGGEST thing I got from this event was learning how thing will play out financially in future events, figuring when the best time to buy certain things I want and when to sell my own things to reap in the most money.
@Minda. One thing I learned was never waste money (Dollars or Gems) on keys. I’m pretty much only ever going to buy the costumes (permitted we get a storage for them similar to GW1) or nothing at all for the events.

Great job arena net, the best experience on a MMO event

agreed, I did buy 1 key though to see what it was like, but after seeing the huge price drop of halloween skin items and all the complaining in the forums I said NO MORE and sat on my small gold pile while waiting for something nice to spend it on xD
Without going off topic, you’re lucky for only buying 1 key and not spending any actual money.

Would give it a 9/10. I enjoyed this event A LOT, especially when I compare them to GW1 events. Not that I disliked the events in GW1 but they were much smaller and less exciting. What I disliked :
- The party problems at the start of the MK dungeon – really problematic
- The pumpkin carving stuff. I also used the overflow trick to reset the pumpkins in LA, which is probably not what was intended. It was annoying because you had to do it to have 100% for the event, it was boring as such and close to impossible to do while doing “regular” PvE (150 pumpkins !).
- The unclear guidelines for the mini games. A tutorial would be a nice-to-have.
The clocktower was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, all the events everywhere a nice distraction, the minigames were fun, the mini-dungeon a nice way to grind some money, the halloween recipes a nice touch for hardcore players to get high-end rewards …
I was really impressed by Halloween, even more by the fact that there was more content added that had nothing to with Halloween and went under the radar (the 4 new JP, the explorer titles, then new events like the burglar …)
Thank you Anet for adding so much new content that it’s hard to catch up !

only because I really liked in GW1 how EVERYONE in the town participated in a minigame. It was fun and hilarious with friends, typing in your emotes as fast as you can and hoping to be the one to challenge Mad King with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors…
