Q:

It would be fun to be able to use the terrain around us to our advantages in fights against mobs/adds. Like if I use a knock back skill, and throw the mob into a tree, or rock it should hurt them a bit, and I would like to be able knock them off ledges.

The concept of enemies taking damage upon impact with objects would be very difficult to code for very little strategic payoff, so I doubt we will see something like that in the future.

As for the knocking off of ledges, I believe the reason that does not work for NPC-mobs is because of pathing and combat issues; if you knock a mob off a ledge, by the time it is pathing back to attack you it might enter its non-combat state and reset, causing a lot of issues.

Further, NPC-mobs would also then have to start taking fall damage, which would be difficult to calculate with the scaling system.

They are some neat ideas, but I just don’t think it is viable for Guild Wars 2.
