Playing together in a group feels worthless
be a proper gentleman and let your wife tag the mobs too.
hope you’re not this fast in all aspects of your relationship.

All she has to do is hit them once or twice. Are you sure you are both playing GW2?
Yes but try playing a warrior that one shots things in auto attack , the way we are playing is going straight for 100% map so doing all the low level areas when we out leveled and out gear them . I have been trying to just auto attack things but even that just flattens every thing i touch , and this is probably the thing that annoys me most in this game .
I am having a hard time understanding what your complaint is right now, unless as Corian suggests, you just charge off without your wife, kill the mob, and feel she should get the credit while she runs around trying to catch up?
My guildie and I have pretty much played our mains together entirely. Neither of us are experiencing this problem. We both hit the mob.. we both get credit.
Edit: Ah. You are playing a warrior. Well, if you are not willing to play another class while grouped with her, then let her run ahead and tag it. Then flatten it.

Yeah lol
Can’t tell you how much credit I get for kills not even grouped just from tagging each mob once.
yup that would be nice if grouping meant your contributions are shared.
right now the only perk of grouping is so you can keep track of each other’s location.
I have not tried a warrior, so cannot really comment on its damage- let you wife start the attack, thats all you have to do for the 2 of you to get credit.
top it off mobs don’t give much EXP and your scaled to the level of the content. Also if your both doing the same DE’s your EXP gain should be about the same.

Its not about the exp gain for me though even though this would also be nice , its just about keeping the flow of the game for me smooth , you have to understand my wife isnt a hardcore gamer or anything so shes slower to react to the game than say what i am , but with wow as an example i can go in and slaughter packs and we will progress at the same time which then makes her feel like we are both progressing at the same rate.
I am wondering how many people like me plays with their wife, friend etc. I play with my wife and we are finding that when grouped its almost pointless as we end up running off to do the quests separate since i am faster at her in killing mobs so she doesn’t get credit.
Grouping is not pointless…the group will always have to wait for it’s slowest player.
In your specific case, maybe if it’s not too late roll a class that isnt as OP? or even better pick a weapon combo that is not as OP as the one you are using now? maybe let your wife take the lead, or take turns on who leads, or if you both agree that it should always be you then you need to set a slower pace.
Multiple people even get loot off the same kill, it couldn’t be any easier.

Well i could do that but i like to play warrior in every game i play . Purposely slowing down to play a game because a feature that other games have is missing is one way that would just have me stop playing all together.
Play the warrior if you like, what class is your wife playing, and why can she not get a single hit in on anything?

Use a bow and tag everything. I do it all the time.
My wife plays guardian, in wow she plays paladin and likes to heal so she would tag along on quests and heal + smiting while i would destroy everything. She generally likes to play the support role and likes to do that in this . Her play style shouldn’t mean she is punished ,as with wow she could just heal and would still get the progress .
Yeah I kind of felt like that too, when grouping with a few people. Not getting any group credit doesn’t make sense.
There should be some incentives anyway, having people WANT to group up (like actually party and communicate) could make the game more social.
Being able to share credit on Heart Quests would be nice (like a % portion). A small XP/Loot bonus maybe, or just simply making it so people can get loot/xp if another party member kills something.
Staff guardian is fantastic support and the autoattack is a conal AE that should have no problems tagging everything. Really, this isn’t a game problem. This is you needing to be more conscious of where your party is and what they’re doing.

It’s not a feature that is missing, it’s a feature that they didn’t include. Don’t mean to nitpick, but I think it’s an important difference; if such things aren’t included, in most cases you can assume it’s a design decision not something just overlooked.
You should be in areas where you can attack separate mobs in the same area, surely? You can go and do each other’s personal stories? You can take part in the same events, explore together? I wouldn’t have thought it was such a big deal. My boyfriend plays guardian greatsword, and that leap skills gets you into combat pretty fast if you just want to make sure you tag something!
