Please Boost Dragonite Ore Drops
Agree with this. While ascended should be difficult to make, Dragonite ore needs to have more drops.
Before I would farm bosses and temples with guesting. But now all the temples are always done, so that’s out the picture, and all the bosses like he said are 30 minz apart (that drop significant Dragonite). I used to be able to get like 250 a day just temples and bosses now it’s down to like 50 cus I can’t stand waiting for bosses to spawn. So I end up doing a couple and then logging off or doing something else.

The main problem now is the temples. Whenever you go into Orr, they are usually done and there is no way to tell when one is up. They really need to add temples to the boss schedule imo.

Dragonite’s fine if you play WvW on a daily basis, imo. I don’t have to go ridiculously out of my way to find the stuff, and by the time I’ve got enough of the timegated mats to make a new weapon, I’m usually pretty close on the dragonite.
I dunno if they changed world boss distribution lately, but the ones where you got like 15 of the stuff per day seemed fine. Temples were always reliable for a good amount, Iunno how those are faring since the schedule changes/megaserver respectively.
So I dunno how I’d feel about adjusting upwards those numbers, but it’d be neat to see an additional source of dragonite in small amounts here and there.
What if completing dailies also lets you choose a box containing either empyreal shards or dragonite ore when you click the chest? Not a great amount. Say 8-16, just as a bit of a boost on days when dragonite is hard to get due to circumstances out of your control (temples defended, keeps not changing hands in WvW)?

With world bosses you pretty much have to commit to doing them for an extended period of time. Almost like a dungeon. There’s very little time to rest if you actually go for each boss on the 15min mark. I’m honestly fine with the current dragonite drop system. I mean, every hour or so there’s a big boss that gives 15-25 ore, with bosses every 15min dropping 3-5. You could pretty much be earning almost 50 ore/hr which is plenty fair, can’t see why people find this a bad drop rate.
Plus if you really wanted to you could limit yourself to the major dragons/karka queen/golem, which would net you well over 50/day, plus have time in between each fight to run dungeons or something.

Maybe ANet could implement some system like the fractal shards? Up/Down grade with some additional materials to make the process a bit more expensive. IMO that will please all crowds and will allow people to obtain needed materials from all kinds of play, which was in Gw2’s manifesto which I still believe they try to follow, regardless of what people say.

On topic: I would throw away a stack of ectos into the forge if it meant I could get that dragonite. It’s what holds me back from all of my ascended. Stupid kitty dragonite.

I never really had a problem with ascended mats, but if other people have problems getting it I’m ok with boosting the drop rate, AS LONG as there’s more space to put it somewhere. I’ve probably trashed a good 5k of each type simply because there’s nowhere to put it when you’re saving your silver

The drop is bad since recently. It was toned down, that’s why I said because of being a seasoned player I had enough dragonite ores to craft what i wanted, not everybody is having an account since headstart though and has played every second since the ascended material introduction.

I also feel Dragonite has become an issue, realisticly you can get ~15-45 per hour or so from World Bosses because so many of the bosses give around 5 Dragonite and the ones that give 15-25 aren’t even always that do-able unless you know when your server organizes them or you go to the map quite a while beforehand. Before the Megaserver update I could often get a stack/hour if I really wanted to, having the option to farm it (like their Bloodstone and Emphereal countparts) was nice.
In WvW it depends on your World, Commander and the opposition and though it hasn’t been too bad so far for me (SFR, almost always Green in EotM) I do believe the same doesn’t go for all servers and even with a wonderful server sometimes you get loads, sometimes you get very little.
When you compare it to Bloodstone dust, which drops almost everywhere or Emphereal Fragments, which drop in low amounts but easier captures in WvW, from chests and most importantly, you can get loads from Dungeons, more than 1h of World Bosses generally and paths don’t take 1h, unless you’re really, really unlucky or can only play in the deadest of hours.
PvP is apparently (I’ve yet to try it) not too bad either, might need to start doing Regional Tracks instead of the dungeon ones. But looking at the wiki it’s far from great aswell.
For 1 toon, with 1 set, this isn’t much of a problem. But for people who want multiple sets because they enjoy more than 1 toon (and let’s face it, you do need it for Fractals since all trinkets are timegated aswell,) it’s becoming quite a grind. I’ve currently got all the time-gated materials for Medium Ascended, Light Ascended and ~5 weapons except the Laurels (getting close) but I’m only at ~3 stacks of Dragonite, trying to do Karka, Golem, Shatterer and sometimes Jormag daily, I will get there…. eventually.
Fixes I assume won’t cause too much issue:
- Add temples on a timer aswell
- Allow some conversion (e.g. 2 Empereal for 1 Dragonite and 10 Bloodstone for 1 Dragonite, what-ever seems reasonable.)
- Add Dragonite as Living Story reward, much like Tome of Knowledge and T6 crafting bags. The possibility to get a Lesser Vision Crystal as drop from one of the Scarlet fights was a good start aswell, imo.

The real problem is that you are supposed to get them from the Orr temples, but the megaservers killed those dead in their tracks.
30 from each temple and they only take like 10 minutes. But now with mega servers there is no way to get to temple events.

A charged crystal is a rare drop from the home node…. but on the subject… I am out of dragonite as well and have to farm world bosses for a week to make my next ascended item each time I want to…. The best source is the Orr temples which besides grenth and balthazar (which take forever) are already done.
Other bosses drop random low amounts… miniscule amounts for the time investment.
I get more bloodstone than I know what to do with…. but I am kind of low on stars and out of dragonite constantly.
I am trying to outfit my 10 characters with ascended weapons… I haven’t even started on armor yet and that thought is horrifying.

Try that as a red server mate. It’s borderline impossible. I don’t think its a good way to farm dragonites as well. What if I don’t like to PvP? Should I be “banned” from ever obtaining ascended gear? Maybe I just love the challenge in the fractals, what then? Don’t limit your point of view to just your view. Plenty of HIGH-ly populated servers at the bottom of bronze league means not everyone enjoys PvP/WvW. Those people need to be addressed too, that’s all I’m saying.
The ascended crafting materials aren’t properly ‘balanced’ for PvE players. Bloodstone and Empyreal can be obtained through both open world and instanced content, while Dragonite is only found in open world zerg-fests only.
Would be nice if they’d put this in dungeons and fractals.

I’m in the same boat. I do world bosses daily and a good amount of WvW. Dragonite has now overtaken bloodstone as my most abundant ascended material by a considerable amount.
I just emptied my bank of two tabs of dragonite and bloodstone again…
The entire point of having ascended materials with different sources is to get people to try out other types of content.

I had to do another run to Balth Temple to buy more Obi Shards. The sheer amount of Dragonites I get force me to stock up on at least 4 stacks of Obi Shards per visit.

Completely agreed. Anet needs to boost dragonite ores drop rate or have some kind of exchanged system to exchange bloodstone dusts or empyreal fragments for dragonite ores.

I would love the option of having a choice. You do an meta event/champ/WvW and a box appears with the 3 items in it as a choice. You are then allowed to select the one you want.

I’d be ok with this, though I doubt it would sell for much at all sadly. I wouldn’t be surprised if it went for 1c a piece… still, I would have probably trashed like 50s worth :P
I do feel for those that need more of these items, but as a WvW player I have so much of it that I need to have mule characters hold it; you never know if it will become handy/sellable someday.
If we cannot sell/trade them then it would be nice to have more recipes added that give even something minor in exchange for them. Say 250 dust, 250 fragments, and 50 ore for example for a 50% MF boost for an hour would still be better than having to throw it out or mule it.
And I do realize that you can spend 14 silver to convert them to bricks etc., but I don’t play the game to lose money on crafting.
Before megaservers I used to have the same issue. After megaservers, being on a low population server (Ehmry Bay), I found the mega-zerg fest at world bosses a joke that took away all the challenge (can’t do The Shatterer with 6 people or Jungle Wurm with 3 guildies for the challenge anymore). So I moved to WvW, where you CAN get a challenge. Now I have SO MUCH Dragonite and Empy Fragments that I delete them now.
I strongly suggest you spend an evening ignoring the snore-fest that is the world boss train and help your server in WvW by taking camps and keeps. If you spend as much time in one evening in WvW as you do on the world boss train, you’ll have so much Dragonite that you’ll be deleting it before you log off at the end of the evening.
Oh, and every time you gain a WvW level, you get between 16-25 silver, Badges of Honor, and a loot chest. With the birthday booster, you’ll level up pretty fast and get as many or more rares as you’d get from the world boss train. Like one level per keep/camp taken. Bring your best friends and food boosters! Try it for one night, and I’ll wager you’re hooked.
I have a 1000-collection slot which are filled with empyreal fragments and bloodstones dusts (with around 230 of bricks and stars) and 100-slot inventory mule that are completely packed with fragments and dusts. This while I don’t have enough dragonite ores….something’s wrong with that picture.
Some kind of exchange/tradeable/more option system would be great.

Then you don’t do enough dungeons. You get 20 Emp fragments per path.

And as I said, I had way more than I needed on my account, but since the last few patches there is NO decent way of obtaining those. Dragonites DO NOT drop for killing champs/supply camps/towers in WvW, only from keeps (E.g. hills, bay, garri), how often do you flip those 3 as a red server hm?

Problem with arguing about this with them is that they’re never going to get it because they have enough. It’s like anything else in the game, if it drops for them, it drops for everyone and therefore is not broken.
The most neutral solution is an exchange because even though the majority of people I know have a problem getting dragonite, the open world farmers need empyreal and have stacks and stacks of dragonite. (Also it remains to be seen if you’re only open world farming… do you need ascended gear?) So it’s entirely possible that they have 10 stacks of dragonite but don’t actually know how much goes into ascended gear. /shrug

I highly doubt you farmed those after the nerf of Dragonite Ore…..I’m actually curious how much of them are made since then… 5? 6? less? Also if you play EotM since its inception, farming it, 70 ingots is a bit low you know.

I have like 2 bank tabs of dust and another 2k champ bags to open, haft a tab of dragonite and almost a full mat bank slot (1,500) of fragments. I already crafted one set of ascended armor and am just make weapons for the fun of it and I have no issue with current drop rate for ascended crafting mats. I do however wish there was something i could use bloodstone for, like condensed bloodstone which uses 250 to make and can be uncrafted later.

I must be playing this game right, because I can get one stack to upwards of 2 stacks of Dragonite (on a really good day) per day. That would be triple the amount of Empyreals and Bloodstones that I could get. I’ll put it in actual numbers so you can understand more clearly:

Let’s sum up this discussion. Anet made it possible to get all Ascended mats as drops. Dragonite, Empyreal, and Bloodstone. So if I’m able to get tons of Dragonites, and someone else is able to get tons of Empyreals and Bloodstones, then everything is working as intended. Bottom line, I’m playing the wrong content, since I’m getting way too much Dragonite, and the other players are playing the wrong content, and getting too much Empyreals. If we switched off, and played each other’s content, then there’d be no problems.
Seems we just solved everyone’s problems.
I don’t see any connection between the points you’re making.
The bottom line is that you can get Empyreal fragments and Bloodstone dust at any time, even by playing all alone if you’re a Billy-no-mates type. Dragonite requires a bunch of other people, and a specific set of conditions. Perhaps this is what the devs intended, but this particular topic pops up often enough to suggest that the disparity between these materials is problematic.

Prior to the megaserver introduction, it was easy for me to get dragonite ore by running the orrian temple events. Sure, it was daily, but it was fun (except Priestess of Dwayna’s light show effects). I haven’t been able to run the temple events properly since then, and since there aren’t any ways to get a timer on the next capture or defend event, has made acquiring traits and dragonite ore a lot more difficult.
The only place where ascended gear is required is fractals. Fractals should reward all 3 types of mat. Its ridiculous that you have to do content outside of fractals to gear for higher level fractals. Im fine with buffing emp fragment drops for open worlders, just give dragonite to instance players aswell.
The devs balanced the mats according to pve, pvp and wvw. So that players could play what they like and still recieve all the mats they need. What they failed to realise is that pve is a huge gametype and has some very different communities (open world players and dungeon players). So the mats should be balanced between dungeons & fractals , open world, pvp and wvw.
At the moment me and my friends are forced to open world for measely amounts of dragonite just so we can gear our characters in ascended for fractals. This is beyond frustrating when we are the type of players that hate how unorganised and leechy open world is. We used to duo temples for fun and quick dragonite, I used to solo golem mark 2 in less than a minute. Thanks to the megaservers we can no longer small group clear world bosses and temples (which took a fraction of the time it took for a zerg to do thanks to people in leechy builds). And we cant even guest to tag multiple zerg fests for dragonite in a small play window anymore.

shatter spawn at reset time, karaka queen 1 hour later. I’m not sure what you mean you don’t know when it come up.
