I’m 46. I do not do Reddit. I was so happy to see an unexpected event today, but before I started I saw the posts here about the reward issue. Hey, no big deal, we all make mistakes and I’m sure it will be fixed through a patch very soon. Can you just please post status and update info here more often, instead of Reddit?

BTW, I love the game, it’s the only one I play.

It would be nice if Anet supported their own website first. I don’t use reddit either… I only hear about some things from friends who do, or if someone posts a link on the forum.

This has NOTHING to do with them responding to the fact that the event is severely bugged and preventing people from getting rewarded for participating.

They’ve acknowledged this on twitter and on reddit but NOT on their own official forums, it’s actually quite sad.

I do not even know what their url is there (and do not even have a login to reddit).

This has been a complaint for as long as I can remember, they do all their talking through other sites, leaving those of us here to wonder what the heck is going on until someone in the know from the other sites happens to wander through and clue us in because Anet couldn’t be bothered to post official game news on the games official forums.

Exactly, if I need some information from a company I, silly me, look on their own site for it first. If by chance they accidentally posted it somewhere else before their own site, copy/paste the text to your own blog/forum and provide a link to the original material if there is a possibility to comment on that other site.

When I go to twitter it is to talk to friends and colleagues. If I want to communicate with companies I use their official communications methods. Social media is WAY down the list for preferred methods, it is for summaries of press releases.

This, so much this. I hate reddit, twitter and the like with a passion. Use them to reach a wider audience? Sure, go for it! But please use your own kitten website Anet! The front page could even have a twitter feed or something on it, so long as the information’s actually here…

Keep in mind that was only posted nearly 20 minutes ago, whereas the developer reddit post was over 2 hours ago.

That should have been in reverse; official forums should be more important for posting official updates than Reddit.

to be fair, I had a hard time even doing anything in the forum when the event first started, so even if they wanted to post here first, the lag made it super hard and must be why they went to the other sources first, to get the news out they know.

Not sure if it gets all, but thats about the only reddit thing I use. Have figured out how to navigate reddit a bit, but the layout of it doesn’t thrill me enough to constantly use reddit. I prefer the twitter account though, which tends to be a bit slower.
They should, though, post something on the forums too, in the case of suspected bugs.

I am serious, not a cat. The forums were so laggy it took me like 10 minutes to load a topic to see when was up wit the event. Forget about posting or the fact people posting multiple topics for one thing, it makes it hard to see any info.

The reddit page has more active posters which is probably why you see things there before on here. It was also on their twitter two hours ago.

Dev tracker is your friend…

First off, reddit and twitter are popular social media. they have apps on phone and get easy access to updates, notifications, and what not.

Now I’m not saying anet shouldn’t post on official forums but….this is the age we are in right now… its all about that social media….

I agree anet should have updated across all platforms, including here, but to bash twitter and reddit is ridiculous.

reddit is so much easier to use and extremely popular…. I go on the subreddit once and everything I need to know is on the front page with one click….here on the official forums, I have to go around to different subforums just to read about different things and the formatting is not my cup of tea here….

Anet does what they believe is more convenient and what is more popular and they aren’t incorrect but they also need better activity on the forums…

I post here first, always. Unless—-as happened today — our forums have a glitch that prevents it. We are unable to log in for some time, although many of us tried. You may have had the same issue this morning, as well.

This is our official forum and my team and I treat it as such. Apologies for any confusion that the post on Reddit caused, but I weighed waiting for the forums to right themselves against the benefits of giving players needed information, and decided upon the latter. I’m sure, on reflection, you’d agree that’s the way to go when circumstances demand it. Fortunately, the official forums are quite stable and we seldom have to make that choice.

Thank you very much Gaile for your response. A lot of us older people turn off the drama and come here for the real word. You have always been up front. As you can see from the toxic atmosphere here, the gang of millions are really hoping for a bigger line of communication. Normally, I would say it is not warranted. But, with an expansion looming, with the “Karma-Gate”, with this bug, I would have hoped you guys could make a little more of an effort to respond to us old folks. But again, thank you for a wonderful game, and I know things will work out right.

BTW, I just tried to play one of the events in the second map (Kessex)… Couldn’t find it… I’m old…

The issue now is that a lot of people have quit the event – although some people have reposted stuff about getting missing rewards later nothing has been posted on what the correct reward level should actually be and therefore it is being assumed by large numbers of players that the max reward is 5 blooms per hour making the higher cost rewards virtually unreachable making the event pointless.

Just as a note – I don’t do Reddit or Twitter either and a straw poll in one of my guilds suggests that I’m in the majority on that.

If you mouse over (or click on, I forget which) the UI announcement on the right side of the screen, it tells you what map to go to. It says something like, Mordrem are attacking kessex hills (or words to that effect). If no events are on, it has no extra information. Once on the right map the sites are shown by red crossed swords. There is also information about what each event requires and how much longer the map event is going to last.

I do not use Reddit or Twitter. I will never use Reddit because I hate the website lay out. I will never use Twitter because I despise social media.

Please, for the love of god, barring bugs like you explained today, use your own websites for updates too. This has been a problem since this game launched, and it happens all to often that you guys communicate every where else BUT the very website you should be communicating from first.

My biggest frustration is being in the middle of a move, staying at my in-laws in Nowhere, TX so I don’t have a full 30 minutes of connectivity. What’s the purpose of requiring that?

I work most days and soon nights so prime time will be dead to me. i only get info for this game via reddit/twitter then come here. pelase make your site 1st stop shop for info.
maybe the events wont be bugged and i can get 1-2hrs of game time from Thur, Friday, Sat, Sun in so I would get possibly 10-40 tokens per event giving me a slice of Rare gear(any duengon gives me more) spend 50s on it also. kinda feel bads for me since my job helps me pay money to the gem store when im able to. 100% feels bad for the grind if your a sudent or have a job or any thing where you cant grind. Fun i guess

Thanks Gaile, figured it out. And after about 23 (wins), I got booted from the game because of an error. It’s okay.

30 min of work for 5 blossoms… really? i want the 4 skins, thats 900 blossoms totally, which is impossible to do with the rate these events work. even getting one of the potions, you need to play 93% of all the events, assuming it happens every hour. its not worth it.

Dayly map reward and scaling still not working. 10min after you postet in the dev-ticker i only got 5 blooms (luckily… first reward in 4 events)

And it would be really nice to know what would be the right reward. So everyone knows if the event is worth the time.
