I think adding dyeable weapons would generate a lot of income for Anet even though it would take money to implement.

All they would have to do is add some dye channels to certain parts of each weapon, the entire weapon/glow effect color could also be changed and I think that would add even more value to the game itself.

If you think about it if your going to purchase a black lion weapon it is much more likely that it will not be in the color you want, so therefore if you could dye some aspect of these weapons (or any weapon for that matter) more people would likely buy them.

An issue would come with some weapons already found in the game, for example, ascended weapons of a different stat type, but of the same weapon type.

In that case, the weapon already has a different colour depending on which stat type it is associated with, so unless all ascended weapon types are then given a baseline colour, it would bring some issues.

They will lose ability to recolor weapon sets and call them “New rewards”.

THIS! I was already asking on day 1 why I could not dye my weapons. If I find a weapon skin I really like I have to just hope it does not clash with the character that will use it (like all shades of one color) as I am hardly changing my entire wardrobe to suit the weapon, which I will swap for another one anyway.

Would be nice.

I appreciate that they might sell fewer weapons, from the point of view of people not having to buy duplicate recolours of a set they particularly like.

But, they would probably sell more of the sets, in the first place, if people didn’t have to worry about the colour being right, or wrong.
