Guild Wars 2

This currently drops as an exotic from Tequatl. In fact, it drops 90% of the time, making it impossible to get another exotic. It has only value for those who collect these items for getting a Bag of Mentor’s Supplies. Which is Masterwork. So basically this hard events exotic drops are replaced by something to get a Masterwork item, which many people don’t even bother to use. Please make it Masterwork, so the exotic droprate is no longer spoiled!

You think that’s bad, the reward for acquiring all ascended gear is an exotic. And not even a precursor.

None of this sounds like I’m going to be going out of my way to get these rewards. If I happen to complete a collection, great. But I’m not going to grind to complete one.

To be fair, 2 of the exotics you can chose are worth 200g, which is more than most precursors.

This whole collections thing seems quite tedious and repetitive, not epic or exciting.

Still, I’d say they could’ve done better. Maybe a completely new and unique item or skin?

Im not sure that’s how it works. Did you get a different exotic 90% of the time before tve patch? And the Spoon vendors for 10s, whats not to love?

Is it actually an exotic taking an exotic loot drop though?

It’s colored like one but it’s actually labeled as a trophy.

If it’s a trophy then the game should handle the drop as one, regardless of what color it is. Since it’s not labeled as an exotic there isn’t reason to think it takes an exotic loot drop slot.

It still drops too often though. I fought teq four or 5 times since the patch and got one every time.. I would rather get normal junk than this spoon.. at least that can be sold to vendors..

That argument, that it drops too often, is reasonable. However it can be vendored and unless you are salvaging everything it’s actually worth more than most of the other regular drops (blues and greens) as it can be vendored. It has a vendor price of 10 silver which is more than what most regular drops sale for or even salvage for.

It can be vendored? kitten , then i destroyed them pointlessly -_-

I don’t think the exotic spoons replace a different exotic that might have dropped, I think

Honestly I’m ok with their drop rate; this collection feels a bit like an introduction to hidden collections, so everyone should have a chance to complete it without grinding for weeks.
I assume the price was calculated according to its drop rate, so I wouldn’t change anything here.

I mean yeah I don’t love the fact that the ascended spoon isn’t really useful, but I guess that’s part of the point (a collection is something that has value as a group, the objects do not need to be useful or valuable on their own).
