You’d have to WP from one far end to the other (~4s) ~25 times for 1 gold. And thats just going back and forth if you are not doing ANYTHING in the zones you WP to. Even travelling to just to gather can net you SOME cash, not to mention killing mobs, selling loot, doing events, etc. It’s still such a small fee it’s almost negligable.

For example, waypoints in Queensdale are about 1s50c. If there was a 20% reduction, I would save 30c per waypoint. The waypoint to Orr is about 3s, so I would save 60c per. It would all add up to quite a saving over time, and it just wouldn’t feel so draining each time you had to take one.

I have always hated waypoint costs, it’s game mechanic that discourages people getting together to respond to events, discourages cooperative play and is counter the game. It’s just a lazy dumb gold sink, a damaging tax purely for the sake of having a tax.
yes, it would save money over time. However, it’s still just a small amount its hardly noticable. Even so, with the money nerfs a gold sink is still needed. Almost no one uses the vendors except maybe for salvaging kits, so vendors don’t really count as a gold sink. The only other gold sink, aside from WPs is the TP tax. A 20% reduction of that gold sink would mean that players are saving a small amount of money, sure, but it would mean that the rate of inflation is just slowed by 20%.

Exactly. I’ve forgotten the last time I ever needed to worry about waypoint costs, barring the one time, post-Feature Pack, where I got careless buying up cultural armour to add to the wardrobe. That was just a rare lapse of judgement. Honest.

Um….what? Waypoint fees are so god kitten low I’d barely notice if they increased the cost of waypoints by 50-400%. I’m not waypointing somewhere just to mindlessly waste gold. I’m waypointing somewhere because it’s going to make me money. Quite frankly I think you’re making a troll post, because in the process of running PS missions, I found people running champs in Timberline of all places. Not to mention the weeniedale train is still chugging along like nothing ever happened.

You have an option not to use the Waypoints. You could run there the long way and make money as you go. They’re totally optional.

Broad generalizations are wrong and insulting. Some people never cared in the first place.
If they are forcing you to double or triple wp to get to where you want because they can’t figure out how to open wps in the mega maps until you enter the area, then ya—they should be free.
Extra cost and extra load timetime. It’s not a point of the cost.

Well, that’s the impression I got from all the comments on Megaservers. There were lots of people complaining about the doubling of the waypoint costs.

What are you talking about? When has 3 silver ever been anything much?
How were dungeons nerfed? The dungeon change happened forever and a half ago soo that’s not even an issue. ac 1/3 coe 1-3 gives you like 8 gold in just money + whatever drops.
If you’re spending over 1/2 gold a day on waypoints you’re either dying a crap ton and waypointing or you waypoint around the map for no reason.
OK, I guess I’m just poor, and don’t make money as easily as you guys. Yes, silver is important to me as I only tend to make 1g or maybe 2g per day with my normal playing. I have about 31g right now, after spending 70g on gems. That 31g would have taken about 2 weeks, except I got an exotic drop that I sold for 6g recently.
And, maybe it isn’t much, but the Champion bags now usually throw out about 1s20c. It would just be nice to think that that covered the waypoint cost to get to them, and that any loot was just on top of that. IMHO.
OH, and one more thing. They got rid of Unidentified Dye drops also, which was one of my best money earners before April 15th – sigh.

Removed repair costs yet increase waypoint costs. What was the point of the change anyways besides in wvw? At least you could mitigate your costs by not being bad and dying but with this you have to pay anyways.
I recommend WP costs be reduced by the following formula
Base WP cost (as it is right now)- .25(world completion%) – .25(map completion%)
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Waypoint cost too much? LOl! You BUM! Go do an event and you’ll feel rich again.

Oh, and here is a suggestion. No one has to follow it… my guildies and I do it though.
1 gold = 100 dollars
1 silver = 1 dollar
1 copper = 1 penny.
So… 1 gold, 52 silver, and 33 coopers will = $152.33
Simple life right? Instead of 1g 52s 33c

That’s thrice what I have right now, and it would take me longer to build it up to that on the basis that I don’t play every day, but I’m still not fretting about the insignificant dent to my wallet that waypoints deal.

Seriously? I make money far slower than that and I don’t mind WP costs. I think I’d be lucky to get 1g in 3 days unless I intentionally go about to make money (like running a bunch of dungeons in one day) which is rare. But I spend money fast enough too.
Only time WP costs bothered me was when the Scarlet invasions were new and I was WP’ing after every event practically to keep active in the meta. But it didn’t bother me then as the WP reduction from the election was in place.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
You get the cost back by killing a few mobs. I can only see this being an issue for champion trains, where people only get 1 bag per WP. Working as intended.
Personally I’d like to see them made like cities. Costs to wp from outside map, free on map. But I know hell has better odds of freezing over than this happening…

Maybe not the biggest, but what else is there? Vendors? TP tax? Gems? There are not many gold sinks in this game

Sorry, but I have to LOL, I burned my account down to 62s after buying gems and a few other things from the TC. After only a few days I’m back at 20+G (not counting the loan a guildie gave me so I could list a pricey item onto the TC, cos I was stupid and forgot to factor it in).
When I need a few G here and there I make an exotic trinket or two and pop it on the TC or run COF/COE/AC (8g right there) or a fractal in each of the brackets (4g+ if you do them all not counting the drops) etc etc etc.
Even if you burned yourself down to no gold, literally everything in this game makes you gold, events, map exploration, wvw, although if all you’re doing is just champ training then well sucks to be you, I’m afraid.
How is this a thing? WP costs are dirt cheap. We don’t have to walk everywhere OR pay people to port us. Seriously, it’s good.
As someone already said, you can get something like 20ish WP for just 1G. Dirt cheap.

OP if you have 31g you will never have to worry about WP costs. Ever. How many times are you WPing in a single day? Even 20 times (which is a ton) would be less than 1g, how the heck is that a money sink when you already stated you make 1-2g/day and “don’t make money easily”. In a typical night I WP maybe 10 times. I actually plan to stay in the areas I go to rather than WP to a new zone. I also don’t just WP any time I need to go somewhere else in the current zone I’m in. If it’s clear across the map then sure, but if you are WPing to save yourself 1min of running then your poorness is self-inflicted.
Like someone said, if you took the 30-45min to run AC p1 & p3, that would net you 3g (not including drops), enough for 100 WPs. Learn some money management!
