I am not sure this was intedned but… it looks, simply said, spectacular!!! Is it a bug? Other people see it, too, so it is not limited to my camera only.

Unlikely a bug. Either intended or a welcome side effect. Lots of people are experimenting with this – I’ve seen lots of nice screenshots combining the aura and the colour changing from the polys and certain tonics.

That face is indeed ghastly.

it happens because the balth armour has a faintly visible heat shimmer effect across the entire outfit, the poly changes the colour of the entire thing, whereas by default it’s mainly transparent.
