Power vs Crit?
Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
It’s a purely linear relation.
Yes to the Assassin stuff. I believe Ele optimal is like either your staff or 2 armor pieces assassin, just as an example.
Also, Bloodlust is not a 25% gain to DPS, you’re right in saying base DPS but your gear and what not will give you more power, so it has the potential if you don’t use any power in gear. If you do you’re looking at something like 2100 iirc off the top of my head, meaning ~11% gain, and then if you factor in might you’re looking at another 625 so 2750 and food maybe another 100 so you’re at 8.7%. It doesn’t deminish it’s actual damage returns, but as a percentage it does drop down.
Then there are things like Reflects which ignore your power but do take your crit chance and modifier into account, which is why many mesmers run around with Assassin gear and/or Accuracy sigils to really ramp up that returned damage.
Some more factors to things than just the base level.
Berzerker is deemed the META more because it’s a good baseline for nearly all classes to follow without requiring too much theorycrafting, rather than being the absolute best possible gear setup.
For nearly all classes, the absolute optimal loadout will mix things like Assassin’s and/or Valkyrie’s as your precision/crit start reaching diminishing returns (or even the surge in condition builds now making Sinister a viable alternative to Berzerker entirely for some classes)… but it requires a much more nuanced understanding and study of just what makes each individual class tick.
First of all there is no dimishing returns for power, precision or ferocity. Critchance scales linearly with precision and critdamage scales linearly with ferocity. Since the damage is a product (not sum) of these values, you get a curve that has a highest point somewhere with the best dps. I just did the calculations for ele and came to the conclusion that Assassins is better than Bersi.
How much base line crit % is deemed good? I have 60% basic crit chance and with fury that gets to 80%, which I think should be enough for critical damage to be a major part of my build. But, is it?

Where might a person see these calculations and your suggested layout?

Because increasing your power by 250 from 1000 is +25% dmg, but with zerker you’ll have like 2500 power so it’s only 10%. Now if you are buffed correctly in a pt you’re about to have 3500 power where those 250 from bloodlust will give you 7%.

I’m curious, so how much power and crit % should we put in for it to be optimal….what should be the cut-off point?
