As I eagerly started to watch the stream I couldnt help but wonder what newly materials were being introduced. With the newly added 500 crafting you could only wonder if maybe, just maybe AT LAST precursor could be crafted!

To my bitter surprise no mentions of it during the ascended crafting walkthrough, but I feared not! I still hoped that maybe on the next part; legendaries, the wonderful news would be given! A big annoucement on PAX, what else but the pinnacle of beautifully crafted weapons which we call Legendaries, nothing else but craftable precursors could be the major highlight!

Oddly enough, no mention of it during the legendaries. By now my hopes were starting to feel betrayed, how could something so important pass someone’s mind? Then it hit me; best for last!!

So i kept watching, and watching, and watching and watching.

“Do you have any questions?”

With a knot in my throat and a tear nearing my eyes, I faintly type on the chat;

“….but, what about craftable precursors?”

And there she stood, like a loving and caring mother whose 5 years old had just asked “Mom, whats the meaning of life?” There, perplexed as if it was a new topic, as an adult who still hasnt found their own meaning she answered;

“Earlier this year we mentioned craftable precursors, I dont know much bout it but it is not coming anytime soon”

And thus my hopes to craft the only thing that kept me playing this game vanished, having spent over 12 months and several hours/gold into getting through the vile and corrupted Zommoros. There he stood, watching me with sadistic pleasure as I convert yellows into yellow and orange into what seemed greens.

Good job ArenaNet team, a small disappointment to say the least.

Same, I wanted twilight for the look on my charr warrior. Don’t care about anything else, which is why I’m not even going to play the game anymore because there’s no point if I cannot craft my precursor.

Rare is not the same as dumb luck. Some guy puts 50g into the mystic toilet and gets 2 dusks but I put in 200g and get no dusk or dawn. No nothing.

That is not rare, that’s called unfair terrible gameplay and I won’t be a part of it any longer.

Please I will ask you to refrain from making such selfish comments in my thread. Many people here dot care about other people’s weapons. I dont bat an eye about people with Sunrise anymore, it is a quite widespread weapon, yet it is the one I want because it is my favorite. many people have the CoF set, 12 months into the game I still havent changed it from my main because I love it, best set for giving a metallic heavy feeling to cloth armor and best fire particles.

If you dont want to se more people with Legendaries then plead to Anet to allow you block people’s legendaries with the PvE anticulling system, there, now you are unique!

will the existing precursor be upgraded to ascended ? they are precursor for legendaries after all…..

Those of us with common sense and dignity as gamers know that this is absolutely terrible design. It’s just the stupid precursor anyway, the real work comes in after getting the precursor. ANET simply doesn’t want to remove its best gold sync: The mystic toilet.

If enough people voice up, or quit, they will get the msg. I’m surprised they haven’t already though… I’ve never seen a developer hold onto such a bad design before. Usually devs try to improve the game, not keep one of the worst aspects of it up and functional…

800g is an unrealistic amount of gold in this game. I don’t think I’ve acquired that much gold within 6 or 700 hours of playtime. The maximum amount of gold all together I’ve had in this game is probably something around 300-350, and I grind hard core when I play.

I did truly quit btw, I quit months ago after the mystic toilet ate all my gold, and I just reinstalled and then uninstalled the game a few hours ago for the 2nd time after I checked out this update to see that it was nothing but fail. The Mf thing was a good idea, that’s about it.

I can definitely see this thread getting “buried” soon somehow, and if somehow it survives I ASSURE you that it will NOT get a red post…..ever.

But oh well, tbh I realized long time ago that hopes is the beginning of disappointment. I have since then learned to lower my standards about the game and it has certainly made it more “enjoyable”

if you’re dedicated enough, and have many characters, nowadays collecting orichalcum and ancient wood would give you around 20+ gold for 2-3 hours of play…

Or an ascended weapon box. If you get one of those you might reconsider wanting that legendary altogether if it’s the same stats and you can throw any skin you want on it.

i have to agree with the champs farming probably give you more, with a chance for expensive skinned weapons…

I mean, it is what it is. It’s not like this should be a surprise. I’d love precursors to be craftable too. Maybe they will be one day. But until then… that’s how it’s set up. Take it or leave it, really.

My biggest issue is that playing the game is supposed to bring you closer, not further from the goal of a legendary..

Example: Storm used to be 125-150 gold, which I could afford now.
Today is was listed for 390 gold, which I cannot afford. Coupled with higher T6 mats prices and ecto prices, although a few extra ways to gradually get those materials through champ loot, I don’t feel any close to my meteorlogicus than a month ago. I’ve had my mystic clovers done for 3 months and gift of mastery done for 2 months, and the requirements to buy up everything else I need are just getting more expensive than what I can keep up with.

Meanwhile my friends with level 80 guardians and thieves (I didn’t have an 80 thief until after clockwork chaos started) get to spend 2 weeks with deadeye dunwell to finish their legendaries just like that.

I was in the same boat… had gotten up to 200g for my precursor that was 300 or so.

Woke up the next morning and found it at 550g. Now it’s at like 600 something.

Oh well. Them’s the breaks. I’m not sweating it. I’ll get there eventually.

Thing is, I would buy it if it wasnt because I want Dawn….go figures…… it took me about 12 months to do 400 gold, without TP flipping or CoF farming, I do dungeons regularly but it is hard to keep up without farming like mad crazy which…..bores me

If suddenly we can craft precursors that’d suck in a Star Wars Galaxies ‘NGE’ patch way.

they should make it so, ascended weapon + 1 special ingrediant (not many items cos making ascended weapons requires too much grind/materials already) = precursor

^ Good interview, he asked pretty good question, though he forgot to ask some balance question, he obviously was being sarcastic at the most obvious one; Warriors and stealth which are now in too much of a good place, necros still need some toning down though.

Oh well w/e, I bet it will need another 250 stack of all T6 mats as well as ascended materials, I just spend all my fortune in Gift of Might and Magic, I wont spend another fortune on a craftable precursor if it requires that…

consider they wanted ascended weapons to be halfway to legendary.

So i guess it will be comparable to a 2-300 G cost per precursor with some added time gating.

you still have to shell out other 4-500 G to get your legendary and complete the map.

While ascended are quite cheap once you have crafting at 500
