So I’ve accidentally put the Collossus Experiment 1 into the Mystic Toilet it seems, days before it tells me I need to salvage it for Experiment 2. I put in a support ticket but the reply was “you can craft it again!” – like hell I can.

First of all, how in gods name does the game allow this. Most items that are needed for other things come at least with a delete warning (like orphans gifts) and there are multitudes of worthless items that cannot go into the forge, but an item that contains over 300g worth of time gated materials that exists only for one reason can? Why inform the player you need this item days or weeks later when you go to craft the next part?.

If it is a quest item IT SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GO INTO THE FORGE. At the very least it should give the item if salvaged OR forged.

Incredibly angry that this first tier item will have cost me almost as much to craft as just buying the entire precursor straight out.

“Salvage this weapon to receive its spirit, needed to craft the next tier of this legendary precursor.” It has nice blue writing on it. ( learn to read problem)?

Bi should have read, but there should also be warnings for this kind of thing through the UI. These components aren’t made to be used in the MF.

So do you read the description of every item you get? I know I dont anymore, i remember previewing it, but didnt see the description on the bottom.

Regardless, the crafting quest should not be able to screw up just because of some text on the bottom of an items description.

First things first:
@OP: what did customer service say in response to your support ticket? They are very good about helping people out in such situations.

Looks as if it might be a good time to start reading the description of every item you get that is related to a long and time-consuming collection. It’s not that much reading.

Regardless, the crafting quest should not be able to screw up just because of some text on the bottom of an items description.

I agree that collections “should not” easily screw up. However, in a game this large, there are always going to be issues, big & small. It’s also sensible that we, as players, pay attention and double-check steps before proceeding automatically through what we think is supposed to happen next.

If people don’t bother to read the description, what makes you think they will read any warnings?

Descriptions are passive, warnings are active and can’t be ignored without player input. The goal should be an amount of warning that properly informs players without being a nuisance.

Or people can just pay more attention.

I mentioned this in my first post. Bi is not without fault, but it wouldn’t hurt to have these safeties in place. Surely if you were tired, for example, and accidentally clicked a precursor into the MF, you would want something to help stop you. I would. It’s not always just a case of poor attention skills though, admittedly, most of the time it is.

The best idea is just to lock these kind of items from mystic forge and destroy function.

salvage these items would be the only thing you can do.

EDIT: I think you get bad support. Support actually can try to get back your item but it’s just a one-time backup.

I guess if it doesn’t take much time to implement as well as doesn’t create new problems.

In this case, since it’s just one item, they could just get him a new one and not have to worry about account restoration.

So now we are gonna get a prompt every time we use the mystic toilet, aren’t we? Asking if we are sure we want to destroy these four items?

Should the 99.999% of players who are careful with such a valuable item have to click through a warning when we forge because of the 0.001% who make silly mistakes?

Salvaging rares and exotics already drives me nuts!

This is pure nanny-state stuff.

There’s a better solution. The lower-tier precursors can be marked as unforgeable to make them a little more idiot-proof. I added this to Matt’s buglist.

Well before you make the next mistake … the spirit thing you salvage from it can also be sold.

I feel your pain. The current system can be quite tedious. I’ve made a mistake as well the other night when I was tired for tier 4 Nevermore and threw out some trophy items that I needed to keep, when in the previous tiers you could just throw them all out, to find it’s bugged and you can’t buy them all from the vender.

This kind of thing is going to happen and I’m not sure there is an easy solution. But in your case definitely making it so it can’t be put in the forge would help.

biCentral: I am sorry for your loss, but like I used to tell my players back in the old D&D days…

“You can’t just read the cool stuff.”

I think it fair to say they do put a warning directly on the item, however, it seems you unfortunately chose not to read said warning.

I think this falls into the same category as the people who throw a Precursor into the forge then complain they did not know it was a Pre, but it also says so right on the bottom.

Here is my rule of thumb when I use the MF.

  1. Read every item before I move it to the forge.
  2. Read it again once it is in the forge.
  3. Look at the icons one more time before I hit the forge button.
  4. Ask myself ‘Am I sure?’
  5. If the answer is yes, I hit the forge button.

Is that a ridiculous amount of validation before I forge each item? Absolutely, but 1) I have never forged anything by accident and 2) If I do in the future, its my own fault.

One thing i keep wondering, about salvaging these precursor experiments: does the rarity of salvage kit matter? I assume not, but i would not wanna use a crude salvage kit then to learn it was much smarter to use rare/black lion salvage kit.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
