Anyone who has about 8000 gold in their pocket can make thousands of gold by buying up the precursors on the AH and selling them a few hundred gold higher.

Power traders feed money into the system so they can get more money out, and most of the time it works. This works as a massive gold sink as only failed traders lose money to the system.

This is why arena-net will never make precursors available from something as silly as a scavenger hunt, and why they will never remove legendaries from the auction house. They need the power traders to act as gold sinks.

Either start power-trading if you want money, or just farm, but don’t complain about precursors and legendaries cause they are never gonna change from what they are right now.

And this is why I’ll ultimately quit this game, and leave a pretty negative review in the end. What you said Scoota, unfortunately is the undeniable truth for GW2 – notice how Anet hasn’t said a single word about the ‘hunts’?

The problem with both power-trading and farming is simple ~ Farming requires intense amounts of time/luck and exploitation, anyone remember Plinx? And power-trading requires gold, lots and lots of it, always requires you do be a pretty nasty player who’ll stop at nothing, often raising the prices of materials/items to pretty insane prices.

Word of warning to anet again – the future of GW2 is pretty bleak unless you seriously, and I mean very seriously take whats happening in the TP and make incredibly significant changes to the game to stop power traders, this is one of the major problems GW2, and everyone, and I mean everyone knows that an MMo’s economy can make and break the game, right now – GW2 economy is heavily breaking the game.

protest this travesty of a patch -
Get it taken down -
Do whatever it takes if you care about this game -

As salty as it sounds, this is entirely true.

I can say, though, that I am glad it isn’t 100/5 rm backed like Diablo is, that there is a TRUE mess.

The dug a deep hole, and I am pretty sure they don’t know how to get out of it.

I got very luck with my precursor, 5 exotic sets into Big Z, fifth one bore Dusk.

Also, if you are going to play Big Z for the precursor game, please ONLY go for the greatswords, if it works, you can sell it, and have a few hundred gold left over after you buy the one you need. I see folks tossing in axes, bows, staffs, and just facepalm. It’s a waste, pure and simple.

Why stop at only a couple hundred gold higher? Why not buy them all up and list them for several thousand gold higher?

If you’re going to live in a fantasy world where both supply and demand are totally inelastic, you might as well go all in, right?

The snowflake exploit made me think…. The whole reason everyone was upset is because it drove the price of ecto’s down. It had the potential to crash the market. Everyone will agree the base price is around 30s ish.
I went into my TP history. Back to a time when I was leveling up my huntsman/leatherworking crafts and had to buy up 10 ectos to finish up my single exotic set. I paid 13s each for those ectos.
No one was jumping up and down saying the ecto prices were insanely cheap at the time. I don’t even want to say how cheap the odd numbers of T6 mats I bought were. All in the low coppers not silver range though. I remember making the decision to put off making a corrupted weapon because I thought paying for the lodestones was too much.
Now it just seems that exotic skins like the corrupted weapons are not worth it. The stats will be sub-par, the cost is awful, farming for the lodestones is not an option, and I haven’t seen one drop yet playing in open world. (only done 1 path of AC as far as dungeons go so YMMV).
I still have only 1 set of armor since crafting more is insanely expensive even with the majority of mats dropping over the past 6 + months. Ectos and runes keep the cost high. It’s become cheaper to buy most everything, than it is to craft it. I like the feeling of being self sufficient but it’s no longer that way. Prices are insanely high. I can only guess because there is so much gold in the system that inflation is running rampant.
My dismal 40 gold since August just makes me one of the poorer folks I guess. At least I have all but 2 crafting professions maxed so technically I did get more gold than 40 during that time. Still considering the amounts being traded and earned are staggering in comparison.
I’ll continue to play until the day comes when I can no longer break even.

Indeed, system is borked when it’s cheaper to buy off the tp than make it.

That much I can agree with.
