Really ANet?

Now, I know some people don’t like PvE. I know they want to be able to do their dailies and monthlies as well. You could have done a nice menu system: Do four out of eight of these tasks, and your daily/monthly is done. You know, play how you like, as you promised. But no, you made them independent and something to grate on completionists that hate PvP. Every. Puppy. Day.

Not sure if I am uninstalling yet. But, I’m getting close.

And don’t tell me “it’s optional.” The whole puppy game is optional, because it’s a game: this impacts how I want to play it, so it strikes at the core for me. Dailies were already an annoyance to begin with. This just turns them up to 11.

These are additional daily achievements that are pvp-only, in addition to the regular pve-centric achievements. They do not effect your pve gameplay whatsoever.

WoW, that’s really OCD to be troubled by sPvP dailies if you don’t like sPvP.

I think it’s great because pvpers had up til now been excluded from daily and monthly achieves unless they went and did a lot of things outside of their preferred mode of play. Now everyone can be miserable.

You mean achievement points that don’t actually do anything and serve zero purpose?

And don’t give me that “completionist” crap. Daily and monthly achievements always reset, so there is no way to actually permanently complete them.

If you’re so incredibly OCD that you can’t get over the fact that there is something added purely for pvp, because you don’t like pvp, then that’s your hangup, and absolutely a point that Arenanet should ignore.

I’m not OCD, but I have to admit when I read it I thought “cool!” followed by “kittens!”

It’s nice to have at least a little attention to the side of the game that everyone seems to forget. But up til now, I enjoyed doing sPvP a couple times per week, not having to do it every day and seeing the clock getting close to when I have to leave for work and zomg I don’t have it done yet.

Unless you have a medical diagnosis to back that up, no it’s not OCD. If you truly had OCD you would be unable to simply uninstall the game and ignore it if that was what you were obsessing over. Nor is OCD ever “fun to satisy”. It’s a serious medical condition that destroys the quality of life of the sufferer.

If you don’t like pvp you don’t need the pvp rewards from the pvp dailies. It doesn’t matter at all and it’s a daft thing to uninstall a game over.

I don’t see the problem with this addition. I always thought it was unfair that PvP players had to do PvE to get daily achievement bonuses, now they don’t have to. now they have the same perks as people who only play PvE. how is that a problem?

I don’t play PvP myself (it doesn’t appeal atm), but I see this as progress and a good thing for anyone who does or wants to try it.

Some people are actually scared of PVP, I’ve met people like that.

I try to explain that it’s really not a big deal at all, but unless they have a good reason they won’t put themselves at risk of being killed etc by other players.

If they go in to get the achievement points from the daily and realise that PVP is just another fun side of the game, that’s not a bad thing.

They might even become good at PVP and make that one of their main things.

Wait…

So you don’t like PvP and you don’t play PvP, yet you have to do a PvP daily, that awards PvP rewards, because you want to complete a repeatable achievement that you can never really “complete”.

Am I missing something? This is entirely your problem. I don’t do a great deal of PvP myself, but I welcome this kind of content.

What about the people that do sPvP exclusively, and never touch the PvE content and thus never completed the daily / monthly quests.

If you don’t like it, don’t do it, if you can’t help yourself doing it, I think the underlying problem is yourself and not the content.

It’s not a matter of being “scared”, it’s just that PvP and competitive gameplay are not fun for a lot of people. I’m one of those people. I don’t enjoy FPS PvP, but I play tons of single player and coop FPS games. Same for MMOs. It’s not enjoyable to me to either kill or be killed by other players. I have no desire to tout myself as better than other people in a video game, or participate in any ranking systems.

I do enjoy playing cooperatively with other people. I also enjoy just wandering around the game world without any specific goal in mind, participating in events when I find them.

I don’t see any problem with having PvP daily achievements. I know there are people who don’t enjoy PvE at all. GW1 even had “PvP characters” that were just ready to go. To have daily achievements and rewards for PvE players and not PvP players seems rather silly.

I suppose they could make the daily achievements mutually exclusive, but I think it’s silly to worry about daily achievement points. In another year or two everyone’ll have 10k+ points anyway, and all of the new people will feel “behind” even though the points aren’t used for anything.

I would try looking at it from the other angle:

There are people in this game who do nothing but PvP. Before this patch hit they had no reason to log in every single day aside from doing what they normally do. Now (just like in PvE) there is an incentive to log in and complete your PvP achievements for rewards. The people who do nothing but PvP probably won’t even bother with the PvE side of dailys.

If you’re a achievement completionist (which it seems to me you are), this should actually be a good change… you have more variety and more chances at points.

You are not a completionist. Completionists do the tasks for the sake of completion. It doesn’t matter what that task it is, how repetitive it is, how difficult it is. Because the task doesnt matter. The little number or bar that goes up when it’s done is all that matters.

You like to think of yourself as a completionist for whatever reason, but want everything to be tailored to your liking or come to you easily so you don’t have to make the full commitment.

I agree with the last comment in this post. Claiming to be a completionist then complaining its to hard to complete or you dont like the game mode (pvp) does not make you a completionist…. IMO this makes you a Recreational/Fair weather completionist…or not one at all.

No.

I just think that they should multiple the requirements by 7, multiple the rewards by 7 and have it reset weekly instead of daily. That way if you couldn’t play on one day, you could catch up the next day.

Or maybe they could change it so that you could only earn the achievement 7 times in one week but it would reset every time you finished it, regardless of the time.

I, for one, hate driving. I get anxious about getting behind the wheel of a car, and I’ve put off getting a driver’s license for years because of it.

Similarly, the very idea of a pvp competitive environment can be intimidating, especially for somebody who’s never been involved in one before. And in general, pvp gamers aren’t all that incredibly friendly and inviting to begin with, which only makes it worse.

But thank you for making sweeping generalizations about people, and making light of their issues. Afterall, if everybody doesn’t think and act exactly like you, there must be a problem with them.

This thread has so much lawl in it, it’s ludicrous. Play how you like. Play how YOU like and screw everyone else that wants to play how they like seems to be your philosophy. The sheer amount of PvP related achievements that you’ll never achieve doesn’t bother you, but this incredibly easy PvP daily is just a tremendous blemish on your “completionist” goals.

Gimme a break, please do uninstall.

P.S. You’re not OCD if you can just uninstall a game over a “OCD impulse” and move on without an issue, you’re just melodramatic.

Losers make excuses, winners make it happen.
