I’ve just come back to the game and I’ve participated in the crown pavilion event and to put it simply, I’d be stupid not to be there for every minute of my playtime. The gear rewards, the cogs that you turn in for high level gear, the xp per minute, the sheer amount of karma…it’s far too good.

I came back to play in the open world, and it’s just completely dead. The charr zone my new thief is going through is a ghost town, I’ve yet to see more than one other player on my screen at any time for any reason, and the player wasn’t even new like me, it looked like some high level guy doing low level stuff. I guess I’m running into people not having alts and the event just being so kitten good that there’s no reason to do anything else?

It’s disappointing to say the least. I didn’t come back to play a sort of arena styled PvE zerg in a single room for hours on end. I guess my consolidation is that it ends soon?

Granted, I’m not exactly against the event. The karma jugs are amazing and I’m building up tons of salvagables and selling lots of greens on the market, but I was hoping for more going on in the world.

You know it’s temporary, right? It’s like holidays. Everyone jumps into the car and travels away for a few weeks. And then they come back again and everything is normal

COF killed openworld way before QP did. ….And to be perfectly honest, now that they climbed back out of that hole, it’s kinda like watching Graveling burrows popping up. …and not the normal kind, no the constantly “OBSTRUCTED” kind.

You should see an influx of players in the lower level zones on free trial weekend. You could try guesting to Tarnished Coast as well.

Anet has been killing open world for a long time now. The living world does that perfectly yes, but also daily boss chests. Now the Champ loot. All of these remove people from zones other than the few that have the new LW or have good champ trains.

The world was their strongest asset and they have been ignoring it instead of building on it.

Stuffing people on one server is not a solution it is like sweeping the dirt under the carpet. The problem remains.

Yup it’s all pretty dead now, yeah the free trial weekend will bring a few in, but they won’t get past the lower area’s.

Why not just join the zerg in the crown pavillion, there’s nobody anywhere else, gets boring after a while though.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

Yep and when this holiday ends the next one is already in the pipeline. You just go from one event to the next. We hardly have time for the “normal”.

btw, I didn’t know you could turn the cogs in for gear…where is this done?

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.

I’d been thinking that the Pavilion had killed open world for a few days now but today there were a heap of people roaming the open world. I even ran into 4 people doing a heart in Lornar’s! I freaked out and ran away.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

It might have temporarily killed open world for players at cap, but it hasn’t killed the open world for people who are still levelling, at least on my server (Piken Square EU).

Is there any MMO where someone doesn’t complain about this? It seems to be a human nature problem, not a game problem.

People tend to gather where they get the most “stuff” for the least work. There really isn’t any way to make every part of the world equally appealing in this sense.
