Welcome to most Asura/Norn players issue.

Although this has been asked a thousand times, here comes the 1001 answer;

sadly no, there isnt.

Your best bet is to reroll sylvari and have fun with it, after all, they ARE the best race.

No there is no option to change race. Nor should there be in my opinion.

It’s too complex because you’ve made decisions through your personal story and through character creation that don’t equate with the other races.
I don’t mean this in a nasty way – but people really should make sure that the race/profession they choose is the one they want to play BEFORE they invest a ton of time in it. You have 5 character slots, so you had the chance to test all the races out without losing progress on one.

I’m too heavily invested on my norm mesmer and norn guard. facepalm Back then I was too thrilled playing a new class, and now is unhappy with my race.

Like I said, that happens too often with Norns. They have awkward body shapes (males anyways), doing JP with them is uncomfortable, running with them is uncomfortable, WALKING with them is uncomfortable^2. Every time I see a person wanting to change from Norns I feel bad for them, because they wanted to play a viking and all they’ve got is bothers. The only redeemable thing norns have is heavy T3.

For Asura is similar but opposite ; everything is too tiny, unless you have an overly flamboyant armor and weapon, usually you cant tell if they are wearing a greatsword or a toothpick, let alone daggers.

When you invest a lot of tim and effort into a character it is only natural to start identifying with them, even if you arent that much into RP, which is why I always recommend new players to play humanoid races such as sylvari and humans until they truly decide what they want.

Fortus, really thanks for that advice. I was planning on choosing an Asura/necro class, cause felt it’d be fun running around being a minion master and blending in with minions. Totally forgot about the part, I might want to be “unique” (even though no one bothers about it, other than yourself) later on ingame and that’d be hard with an Asura.

Just side note though, just learned that human’s elite skill can summon 2 hounds, is that true only for Human race, or all elite skills?

Only humans, but other classes have different things, sylvari for example have a hound

it was said a long time ago that since your personal story is tied to your race selection it would not be an option to have race change.

They have said that technical limitations are the main reason for there not being a race change item.

Regarding the personal story and how they said that it’s impossible to change, they said the same thing about account bound wvw xp, and look what happened.

On another note, everybody know that the majority of players already play humans. If they added a race change item, a big part of the unhappy players who chose norn/asura at the beginning without knowing the cons would change to human aswell. This would result in a game with almost excluseviley human players and is certainly not in anets interests.

IMO this is the main reason for there not being such an item, considering the demand for it and the money anet could make.
