Hey guys,

I was wondering what you consider rare names. Like, is it a word, the shortest possible character amount allowed, famous names, or something else?

Saw a character with the name, Stinky Colin. I laughed.

I saw a character named Ree Beeswax. I wonder how many people have made names insulting the developers (or as a tribute, however you want to look at it).

Pink power ranger was a pretty good score.

Only seen 1 guy named Assar in this game (a player, not a npc)

Best name so far that I came across was " Im So Norny" and his counterpart “Me So Norny”

I have an Engineer named Lonnie Wrench. I’m rather fond of it because it took me a while to find an Engineer name I liked. I don’t know how many will see the reference though.

The first character I made when gw2 first came out was a charr guardian named Tauren paladin, I got so many threats and whispers about me being a wow nub fanboy and a bunch of stuff, I even had someone whisper me with a serious threat on my life… It was funny at first but got annoying so I just deleted it

I’m picky when it comes to my character names takes me forever. Either has to be funny, punny, or sound either awesome or original.

Thief: Voleur Crudelis (means heartless thief)

Guardian: Eric Charrtman (Eric Cartman pun)

Necro: Zombie Cancer (Heard it on a funny animation video, thought it was funny.)

Elementalist: Dumblenorn (Dumbledore, norn)

Mesmer: Pureblood Heartless (I was able to make it look 99% like a heartless off ______ hearts. (for some reason kingdom is getting censored)

Warrior: Snapdragonborn (Sylvari, dragonborn, snapdragon is a plant, he wears dragon like armor)

How about Harry kittens lol

Putting a K after an F always gets censored.

Igotnoobtubed was pretty hilarious. It’s a Call of Duty reference that made me lmfao. I didn’t even know that was allowed as a name.

I believe I also say Pwny Slaystation – that was a good 5 minute laugh too.

By far, the best name I’ve seen was a thief named Cull Me Maybe (prior to the removal of culling in WvW.)

I consider names rare when they are either:
A. Short, widely known words, preferably linked with complex, important or strong ideas.
B. (Correctly spelled) names of interesting, famous characters.

For example, during BWE 1-2 I had a character named Prisoner, and during BWE 3 one named Sins(which I use in games/websites, still mad I missed it at launch).

My characters are all something completely made-up-on-the-spot, except for Xenophria (my ranger). Every MMO I play I make a character with that name. I have Marakesh Daybreak (necro), Allegria Daybreak (guardian), Brokk the Singed (engi), and Shaava Stardrifter (ele). Shaava’s last name is taken from one of my favorite books.

My first character’s name is Passos, and my friend has a character named Max Payne.

My humans, I just randomise something but I am very choosy with my Sylvari names.

My thief is Leveillei, after the Anemone Leveillei (woodland anemone) plant. Elementalist is Rhubey (short for Rhubarb :P )

I found it difficult to find a name for my cactii mesmer. I tried your usual psychotropic cactii like pachanoi and micromeris which were taken, but finally settled on spachiana. The flower of Echinopsis Spachiana isn’t exactly like that of the Fervid Censor back item, but it’s close enough for jazz.

Things like Texx, Sokka, Vekk, Vikk, Vokk, Tokk, Tikk, Tekk etc.

I considered making an Asura mesmer, but after trying 19(!) Asura style names, I gave up and make another human.

I saw a beutifuly done norn female called Gandara. I play on Gandara server ;)

I wanted to make a fat female asura ranger with a pig pet (do those exist?) and call it “Honey Pew Pew” but the name was taken…grrr

For a short while I had a charr thief named “Cat Burglar”, but then I realized I was never going to use it, so I deleted it and announced it on forums to let someone else use it =D

I got it in my head recently to roll a sylvari necro named Brohearne but the name was taken. So was Brahearne. Oh, well.
