- female Norn called “Born Noobs”
- idiot Asura called “Hurp”.
- mean, grizzly Charr engineer called “Cuddles Rainbowsmiles”

Friend of mine has “Sabbit Rex”.

I saw a huge Norn male standing in the doorway to the BLTP in Lions Arch.
His name was “Big Ol’ Belly”

I laughed for a good 2 minutes on that one.

Best one so far that I’ve seen.

I saw one last night that made me smile. “TVs Adam West”

I had a Sylvari named Twign Berries. Unfortunately I was forced to change it, I guess someone was offended by it

I like my Rich Gold Vein raven. I’ve also seen a Lawn Moa, a spider called Peter Parker, a drake named Godzilla Jr, Headcrab the devourer and a pig known as Bacon Mc Oink

My Charr engineer is “Mister Tiddles”.
I was very happy to get “Wildheart” in headstart for my Sylvari ranger. She has a warthog called Ozzy, an eagle called Johnny Come Lately, a murellow called Barry and a bear that alternates between Rasputin and Necessities.

A friend has an owl pet called Hooters and a raven called Quoth.
He also went for “Mister Tiddybombom” for his Charr, but it was taken

Saw a thief the other day named Check Yo Pockets. Had a good hearty laugh from that one.

Noble Male Human, completely dressed up and decked out in regal colors called

“Lord Yolo Swagister”

Laughed so hard.

Just started this weekend, but already have two:

Male Sylvari – Julius Cedar
Male Norn – Fassin Sitbelt

Easily the two names that made me giggle the most when I passed them thus far.

Anything that fits the typical naming conventions of the playable races.

I prefer names that fit the lore and game, since I like to feel immersed. It’s impossible these days, of course, since the maturity level of players couldn’t get any lower.

So, sorry, I don’t find many of these to be “best” by a long shot.

Some are marginally amusing but the thing is, they reflect the fact that the people that the people who create them don’t care about the game, or the genre, or the effect they have on other players.

Yeah heaven forbid anyone have fun with their names. I love the lore of this game, the game itself, and it’s predecessor. That being said I have 2 “fun” names and 6 “serious” names. I could really care less if my character’s name breaks your “immersion”.

My asura ranger is named Gnum Chompski and my human thief is Karate Lessons, my black bear is named Racist, polar bear Snow White and the krytan drakehound Scooby..

I liked the Human male Theif I saw: Thieven Stealberg

I need to use Metal Gear Salad more but I’ve been playing Charrlatan and since they’re both thieves (yes I like thief so much I have 2..)…

I’ll get around to her later.

I also have my mesmer, Ms. Direct, and an Asura Elementalist, Zapp (it even fits naming conventions!)

I don’t think I have any particularly interesting character names. My favourite at the moment is Ilex Hedera, and I’m thinking of naming my next one Mys Teri after my GW1 prema-pre. Making them a mesmer this time instead of E/Mo.

I’m also tempted to call one Post Morgan after a running joke at work. No one else in-game will know the story, but it makes me laugh.

My favourite out of other peoples is a charr called Destroyer of Sofas. There’s been more that I’ve liked but that’s the one that stuck with me.

I’m pretty sure they don’t ban you for having a stupid name. They suspend your account and force you to change offensive names, but they’re certainly not forcing everyone to stick to lore appropriate names (thankfully) and “stupid” is a matter of opinion.

I’m tickled pink by Taylor Swiftclaw. I don’t know why.

My raven is named “Nevermore”. My owl is named Hootie because I’ve never been able to get this homage to a Strigid Screech Owl out of my head.

I got a kick out of a Norn name my husband came up with for me – Nancy Brew. She’s teamed up with his Frank Zappya. Two guesses as to his profession.

Attractive Woman (some human girl), Magic Mushroom (Sylvari Mesmer with a mushroom head), Snew Snew (Norn Woman), Angry Muslim (human engineer with a beard) and A Black Guy (A norn thief).

I remember these because they all made me lol in real life.

Now, when we come back down to reality, both RP names and funny Pun names take time to come up with if the person is putting any thought or time into them. I can come up with a handful of stupid puns easy as I can a handful of random sounding names … doing neither one makes you better.

To people who appreciate creative, punny names and come ready to have fun with that, then those names are great. Honestly – as a long time roleplayer – I can say that some of the rp crowd really need to lighten up … if you don’t like the Sylvari “Roamin Noodle”, because it breaks your immersion, don’t try to rp with her. Chances are she didn’t come in planning to rp … though maybe, just maybe if you take a chance and reach out and try … maybe you’ll convert her and she’ll want to roleplay. Or maybe she’ll be a great person OOC and you’ll be better for having met her.

Those people who love Racially Appropriate RP names will appreciate those names allot more than people who don’t care. It’s those people the names are picked to relate to and impress – they’re the target audience, not the guy or girl what hates rpers. Though I think anyone can appreciate a genuinely good name. For these people the act of making a name isn’t a ten second verbal spill … they probably do mean something, fit some image, convey the impression they want without having to even talk. Their nametag is the first thing that sells them to other rpers, afterall.

And I can guarantee nobody else has my name; it may not be “the best”, but it is exactly her.

There’s no reason this thread has to, or even should, become some kind of masculine Name Wagging contest … you were both out of line.
