Take your time in Kessex Hills, there are a lot of things going on in that zone. And it is an incredible sight.

Plus it has the best quest in the game: you get transformed into a pig and have to look for truffles!

Don’t forget to try out a couple different classes right from the start; most play very differently. You’re usually better-off with a Warrior if you plan on doing PvE content: fast and deadly.

I have been wanting to try Guild Wars 2 out for a while but never managed to try out the previous free trials..

I am really enjoying the game right now and i actually bought it yesterday =)

This MMO is probably the best game I’ve come across my entire lifetime and to add icing to the cake, the community for the most part are great people. Take your time exploring. Peer into nooks and crannies, you might find a jumping puzzle in a cave or trigger a hidden event. Read the dialogues, pay attention to NPC random commentary, you’ll have a blast. No need to rush to 80 at all.

And never mind the people unhappy with the game that do their best to make other forum readers also unhappy. If you end up unhappy let it be because it isn’t the game for you after all, not because someone got snarky. (Yes, naysayers, I do admit the game won’t please everyone. That’s fine. Best advice I can give you.

Take, your, time. Seriously.

Also find a good friendly packed guild, makes the game last a lot longer.

I remember that feeling when I started last year. If you prevent yourself from worrying about the achievement point grind, the ascended gear grind, champion farming, ca$h $hop fluff, and the mountain of bugs you’ll enjoy yourself immensely. Welcome aboard.

Before you get into it too completely, make sure you choose a high population server. I recommend Tarnished Coast or Blackgate. Don’t make your decision based on the server status’s though, because those are misleading. I chose Gate of Madness and it always says “Full” but it never is.

I recently deleted all my level 80’s and transferred to Tarnished Coast and I’ve having a lot more fun.

I definitely am taking my time, especially in a game like this where there are so many hidden things to find and it’s very enjoyable finding them.. I actually stumbled onto a hidden cave system last night in Kessex Hills.. I got surprised by a Jungle Troll from behind, the first time i had saw one.. I ended up rolling away twice to the left and i fell like 100ft down to my death.. I laughed for about 5 minutes straight before going back and cave diving some more =P

And yeh, i agree about trying out different classes i actually started with a Guardian because i like to be “Tanky” i played a tank in almost all other games such as Tera and Neverwinter but it was very different here where you can have many different builds for different classes and polish your stats and traits quite well.. So i decided i’m going for Ranger and have my pets tank/damage for me while i shoot from a distance =)

I am actually looking for a guild right now, hopefully an active one where we can do group missions and champions together, but i don’t want to jump into the first one i see so i’ll also take my time with that

Wiki, yes definitely. It will give you all the information you would like, in an unbiased clear and clean statement. (ps: there is a /wiki command in-game to open your browser and search the wiki).

The forums are dominated by people with complaints and demands that will belittle your first-time-through experience. Enjoy the game first! Only come here when you are looking for more :-)

I signed up after the first day of the Trial. I’ve come from an old game that’s about to be majorly dumbed down and I am absolutely blown away. There’s so much going on, there’s so many ways to customise, there’s so much to see. I had no idea MMO’s had changed so much. I can appreciate longer-term players might get jaded but I haven’t been so gripped by any game for years.

indeed. Enjoy the game by enjoying it and don´t let your fun being interfered by “but it supposedly sucks” from the forum :P In the end, what games you like is mainly a matter of taste and GW2 can be fun. And that coming from someone who finally deinstalled the game because it wasn´t really to my taste in the end probably speaks a lot for the product. (yeah, yeah, what am I still doing here then – frankly, I have no idea. Probably more fun than Excel while at the office :P)

Yeh, there are always those kind of players in any game, i don’t let there judgements influence my own tho, i think that’s the key.. Especially when they say the same things over and over again on all types of topics.. Also i think if people become that unhappy with the game they are playing then there is little point to keep playing and making remarks over the forum.. But it happens anyway Lol

I think part of its just natural tho.. If you play a game for a very long time eventually you will get less enthusiastic about it and the kinks of the game and things you don’t like about it will probably arise and get to you more.. But still, thats when you take a break or stop playing.. Not go on the forums making bad remarks all day Lol Oh well =)

I just completed Kessex Hills 100% but looking around in game and out of game to make sure i didn’t miss any secrets, then i think i’ll be off to Brisban Wildlands

Does anyone have any advice on finding a guild? i would like to start playing with a group more regularly and not so many strangers most of the time Lol

I have been playing for a year too and I still enjoy myself very much.
The things that were fun to me when I started, I still find the most fun- so that is what I focus on.

Heh – I only realised L0 sigils worked on L20 stuff this morning and that Ranger pets have different skills that suit different builds. There are plenty of social guilds you can join. Just find a group that plays the way you do and join in. There’s a guild for everyone, from super casual to ultra hard core. From WvW to SPvP to PvE to a mix of all of them.

Honestly if it weren’t for my guild I might not have lasted as long as I have…certainly not with the hours I play anyway.

Over a year and still love it here too. Things I have thought where amazing and things that I cannot enjoy have been in the game during this time. It is nice to know I will have something on a regular basis to decide if it is personally amazing or blah.

Yes, everyone in my guild is clueless. Probably why they’re in my guild. lol

There is a guild recruitment thread on the forums. actually there is a guild lfm and or me lf guild options to post in. There would be your best bet. Make sure to list what server your on and active play times. Good luck.

I have friends that have been playing since beta and they feel like it’s still in beta. I can see where they are coming from. Please fix the bugs. I’m not a programmer, just like playing. Hard to play with my friends when all they do is complain about bugs and stuff.
