This is a pretty simple notion that’s bothered me for a long time. Why are longer paths like Arah p3 rewarded the same as Ascalonian Catacombs paths? Why are longer paths of Sorrow’s Embrace p2 worth the same as Citadel of Flames p1? Why are Fractals the least rewarding dungeon experience imaginable in terms of gold output when the higher tiers are by and away more difficult than dungeon explorable modes? These questions have plagued dungeon and fractal players for a good long while now.
It’d be great to have it rebalanced in the feature patch. It would encourage players to branch out and do the tougher paths for better rewards, and it would breathe some life into the dungeon community to see some love.
Here are my thoughts:
Ascalonian Catacombs:
p1 – Hodgins – 1.5g
p2 – Detha – 1.5g
p3 – Tzark – 1.5g
These were updated, and while pretty easy, they are fairly baseline for their difficulty. Honestly, I could see a few of these going down to 1g (like path 3), but I genuinely think they are still pretty tough for newer players and so are deserving of the 1.5g.
Cauducus Manor:
p1 – Asura – 1g
p2 – Seraph – 1.5g
p3 – Butler – 1g
CM is pretty easy in the grand scheme of things and very fast. Seraph path is trickier because of the bomb segment at the gate and how that can be tough to coordinate for less skilled players, so that path should be rewarded slightly more.
Twilight Arbor:
up – Leurant – 1g
for – Vevina – 1.5g
Aetherpath – 3g
Leurant is an easy path and definitely the easiest of the lot. Vevina’s a little trickier but not much so. The Aetherpath is worth 3g because it is long, has time-gated mobs and events you cannot bypass, and is way harder than the other two.
Sorrow’s Embrace:
p1 – Fergg – 1g
p2 – Rasolov – 2g
p3 – Koptev – 1g
Path 1 and 3 are very easy, but path 2 is extremely long and drawn out, giving it a value of much higher than the other two paths.
Citadel of Flames:
p1 – Ferrah – 1g
p2 – Magg – 1.5g
p3 – Rhiannon – 1.5g
Path 1 is a joke, and should baseline what is worth 1g in this game. Magg’s path takes longer by definition of the events, and path 3 has some tricky events that can be difficult for pubs to coordinate; those two should be worth more.
Honor of the Waves:
p1 – Butcher – 1g
p2 – Plunderer – 2g
p3 – Zealot – 1.5g
Butcher path is easy even after the troll buff, so it can stay 1g. The other paths involve inordinate amounts of underwater combat including underwater bosses, and in general are trickier than the first path, so they can be more. Path 2 is arguably the hardest of these, and includes a number of bosses that are pretty massive HP sinks.
Crucible of Eternity:
p1 – Submarine – 1.5g
p2 – Teleporter – 1.5g
p3 – Front Door – 1.5g
These paths are the bread and butter of many very experienced players, but Subject Alpha and a lot of the other mechanics of this dungeon cut down not-so-skilled players. I think each is worth 1.5g for this reason.
The Ruined City of Arah:
p1 – Jotun – 3g
p2 – Mursaat – 3g
p3 – Forgotten – 3g
p4 – Seer – 3g
Arah, and indeed Giganticus Lupicus alone, is worth 3g. Extremely experienced players play this regularly and it’s not hard for them because they’re used to it, but the barrier of entry for a new player is high. If we could go higher than 3g, I’d suggest path 4 get 4g simply due to the number of bosses you have to fight alone.
Fractals of the Mists:
50s + (5s * Fractal Level)
Actual gold rewards for players who play high difficulties and stomach challenges like L50 Dredge, L50 Mai Trin, and L50 Molten Duo. This translates to 55s at level 1 and 3g at level 50, and scales well into L80 once those levels become available with even greater challenges.
What do you all think?
