If you did the beta weekend 1, there was an event that occurred on the last hour before servers went offline, it was in plains of ashford i believe(or diessa plateau i dont remember).
The event was like a humans vs zombies type of game, although on this one its your characters vs branded enemies(kralkatoriks minions)…..basically you and the rest of the zerg fight and kill this branded minions, but if you die you become one of them(kinda like Lunatic Inquisition)….BUT it wasn’t as lame per say, because you were able to fight the enemies with your own skills and not some crappy specified skills that can’t even touch them, and i dont know how big the battleground was all i remember was runnign around a huge part of the map and finding tons and tons enemies to kill.
TL;DR i just want to ask maybe if any dev read this, whatever happened to that event, i thought it was fun (A huge dynamic event TOO), but it never got incorporated to the game during release or anytime during the 2 yrs its been out.

This event was not the only one, they had other events during other beta weekends. It is indeed strange that none of those events made it to the game.
You should play lunatic inquisition and southsun survival.
While not exactly the same, they are very similar to the branded and hunger royal games from 2nd and 3rd beta.
those games were scrapped to make gw2, gw2 was scrapped to make super adventure box, sab was scrapped to make gw1.9, which will be scrapped to make gw2.1
hooray progress.. stay tuned for gw3: inviso charr monks vs teleporting sniper quaggans

Sign me up for Teleporting Sniper Quaggans!
I loved the Plains of Ashford one. When time expired I was underwater surrounded by sharks, but since I was a bad guy by that time they left me alone. When I logged back in to that character for the next Beta Weekend the sharks promptly chewed me to pieces before I even materialized on the screen.
Not sure it was BW1 though… wasn’t the Norn “Great, Laggy, Particle-Effecty Hunt” in lower Wayfarer Foothills #1?
Anyhoo, I never thought to get screen caps until the final Beta Weekend. We were all “Secret Agents” trying to wipe out the other teams. As you can see from the picture, they dressed us in the Pirate Outfit with Aviator Sunglasses (a combination no longer possible since Outfits are extremely limiting) and an Asuran rifle of some sort. Go Red Team!
The timestamp on my pictures say it was after 2:20 AM… I enjoyed every second of those weekends and was listed amongst the walking dead at work on Monday).
BW1 was the Wayfarer Foothills great hunt with the legendary black moas everywhere.
The events at the end of the Beta Weekends were one-off `finales` as per ANet Beta Weekend Tradition. They are not fully finished and balanced events intended for release, they are just a bit of fun that ANet like to create to end the BWE. The event runs once, and when it’s over the servers are turned off.

GW1 BWE5 – featured multiple Gwens being spawned and killing all players online at the time with Spontaneous Combustion.
GW1 BWE6 – featured Infernal Wurms spawning in Lion’s Arch and Tomb of the Primeval Kings.
I can’t find references to remind me of the GW1 BWE1-4 finales, but I’m pretty sure they existed.
That said, it would be pretty cool if there was a way of incorporating them in some way.
Yeah, the event OP is mentioning was in the BWE2, and it was awesome.
In BWE1 was in Wayfarer and I just remember a legendary bunny that was tanky as hell, and the moa was just immortal haha.
In the BWE3 ended with a “hunger games” like event, can’t remember exactly where it was, I think it was around Metrica
BW1 was the Wayfarer Foothills great hunt with the legendary black moas everywhere.
The moa jokes were endless.
What’s the quickest way to get 800 gems in GW2? Moa lawn.
@haishao – i did say lunatic inquisition is lame on OP, crap rewards for long wait, i did it for achievements not for enjoyment. Same goes for southsun survival, waiting for everyone to finish is just boring.
This is the one part of the original game vision that I am sad to see gone. In spite of the complaints arising from people not being able to play during the original Southsun Cove events, it was an epic experience that is one of my favourite, over the life of Guild Wars 2.
I feel that having regular, ongoing and randomly initiated “live” events like this would really make Tyria a living world. By regular, I mean often enough that most sane players would not be expect to attend all of them.
This is like real life., you can’t be everywhere for everything, but those moments where you are at the right place at the right time make a personal, memorable experience to be nostalgic of, long into the future.
I still enjoy all the content we do get….

Professional courtesy.
And hey, I loved that event, too!
And thats why it should be brought back to the game gaile….i remember not even touching gw1 during Gw2 beta weekends and those unique finales.
I remember the event from BW1. When I started playing head-start I kept hoping it would start up until I was told it was a one time event. I really loved it.
Too bad not every server ever got the BWE2 end event… I was very disappointed, waited for hours while watching others stream the event, and never got to play it myself.
I remember, very well.
And eventually getting corrupted.
I loved that event. I missed BWE1 and 3’s end events because I simply could not stay up to 3 am on a work night. I think BWE2’s Monday was a holiday? So I got to play Corrupted, as I died pretty fast. It ended with three of us in my guild chasing a fourth who’d managed to stay alive the whole time. He was fleeing us in a swampy area, Mesmer blinking and speed boosting to evade our pursuit, while going “Nope nope nope” in /say. We almost had him — and the servers shut down.
Then they repeated the event, I believe in a stress test, and I knew much better how to live so I lasted far longer, but still died before it ended. Having a blast the whole time.
This sounds awesome.
It looks like I didn’t think to take screenshots the first round, but here is one from the June 2012 stress test when they repeated the event:
I though we will get events like this every now and then. Oh well, we have the Living History that is kind of similar, but not as fun as those events. The BW2 one was so awesome, that i dreamed of similar events but with Zhaitan and other dragons flying in the sky for a couple of days lol.

Compared to this the living story is like a cheap rip off, made by an 6 year old.
I was there, too, and I took a TON of pictures.
Crazy days. I loved every minute of Beta, minus those minutes wasted on technical issues and my laptop overheating, the poor thing.

The BWE finales didn’t make it into the final game because they’re lore-breaking, really.
Though they do make interesting set-ups. Set ups that I don’t think Lunatic Inquisition and Southsun Survival really capture.

The BWE2 can be done without breaking the lore :P
