I must say that with the free expensive dye, the finisher (which might actually be my favourite!) and now the new outfit, they’ve definitely done well in the gifts department this week!

I look forward to actually getting it. Is this an Outfit as in it covers all armor with a new looks similar to the Explorer Outfit. Or do we get skins to use parts of it as we like?

I have one question about the requirements for getting the outfit, do you have to have been playing since launch? I started playing in February of 2013 and the way it was stated sounded like it was only going to people who started at launch.

Aside from the helmet being pretty silly looking, I love the new outfit. Literally my conly complaint is that I spent a ton of time and money trying to make a heavy plate armor look for my Ele, and then randomly got a much better look in the same style dumped on my lap.

The outfit is a bit not my taste, it’s a good design. But can’t you make it more shiny with the sun reflecting the hard steel? And replace those frameworks with horns or something or at least a Templar-Armor design. I feel that this armor is a bit like the Aetherblade’s one and that doesn’t make it very unique :/

But in overal, i’ve played guild wars 2 since 3-day headstart and i’m still in love with the game. I know you guys put a lot of support in the game and i really appreciate it!

There are a LOT of Gem Store outfits that I think are ugly. There are only a few I have actually liked. But other people obviously like them. I think it’s a matter of taste and you have to accept that not everyone has the same taste and that ANet can’t make an outfit that would appeal to everyone’s tastes.

I pre-ordered months before launch and played all the beta events and the headstart. I still don’t have mine and people who I know bought their accounts at least a year after launch have theirs already. Pretty sure it is random.

You can actually toggle off outfit helmets by toggling off your actual armor helmet.

Hide your armor’s head armor to hide an outfit’s head armor. This does not work for shoulders/gloves however. I really wish outfits would be made into separate pieces of armor by now, mixable together with our other equipment skins. At this point, we’d have so much variety in custom appearances, but are limited by this rather annoying limitation of the outfit system. I also believe this would financially be smarter by ArenaNet, as someone may not want a full outfit, but perhaps wants just the gloves, or the coat, the head piece, etc.—meaning people would buy a full outfit that they otherwise wouldn’t, to get a specific skin piece. Outfits, financially, are likely not as great a revenue potential as individual pieces would be.

It might also depend on the character. I got the hexed outfit because it was basically free (cost something like 1 candy corn cob) and looking at it on my female human and male charr I didn’t think I’d ever use it. Then I ended up using it a lot on my female asura

I’m aware of how to hide the helm of the outfit, but I want my normal helmet >.<

I am really really excited for this outfit. I’m a huge fan of heavy armor-classes, but have very little interest in outfits due to the lack of customization aside from dyes. One thing that’s been irritating me about heavy armor in GW2 from the very beginning has been the over-abundance of form-fitting armor with very few alternatives.

Between the Balthazar outfit and this Royal Guard outfit, I finally have hope that we’ll see legitimate armors (not outfits) with similar designs in addition to the over-abundance of form-fitting heavy armor.

If you are embarrassed by the female form or find form hugging armor personally unappealing then just admit it but don’t lie and pretend it’s about “practicality” and certainly not in a game where one can survive a nuclear blast by doing a somersault.

Personally I love it but I kinda wish it was an armor so i could combine it with other skin parts.

Not trying to be “insulting” in some way but… Did it really have to be an outfit instead of seperate armor pieces? Outfits make me sad because you can’t combine them with other pieces; on the other side outfits make devs happy because they can’t be combined with other pieces

In all honesty I do find myself a little let down by this. There was so much up talking about veteran player appreciation and you make the game free to play with huge restrictions, and I’m sitting here feeling a little let down by the consolation we get for spending $60 on the game. Even the people that just bought the game a couple days ago are getting a “too bad” kinda vibe from the outfit. Maybe if we got a choice of the 3 original armor set skins (Krytan, Primevil, and Profane) and got this one as well kinda deal would make it seem a little nicer.

I’m actually kinda thinking they have a lot of “I want a refunds.” coming in from people who just bought the core game and then found they liked it so they bought the HoT expansion. ANet just caused a lot of player base issues with this free to play announcement.

I`m wearing it on my Charr now and I am really happy that it doesn`t have any clipping with the tails and horns whatsoever Plating that protect the tail and rings that give space for the horns, I absolutely love it!

Only been playing GW2 for just over a year but in all honesty when I read the “wear it with pride” comment in the play for free news letter… My first thought was if I see anyone wearing it I will just think “sucker you paid for that suit”.

Maybe its just me as I do not buy outifts, minitures or pink fluffy bunnies

Why oh Why did you not put it out there for ideas on what should be free and get feedback that made players feel like part of the system…. And then you could have asked what would people like… an outfit… laurels… materials…. wvw levels…… and offered players a tick box option maybe…

As this outfit is just a bit/byte in a program its, simply, easier to give us all the same thing….but why…. We all play differently…. and, again, a choice of rewards might help restore confidence in the system….

Maybe there would have been less “bad feeling” comments.. after all its not been to long since the whole raft of comments on the “giving the GW2 free with GW2 heart of Thorns”

After just receiving it, I must correct myself: it does have a paladin/guardian feel to it!

I love love love the stained glass details. Looove! The helm is not really to my taste, but still looks nice and fits the set well. I also like how it’s fancy looking, but also very regular GW style plate and not over the top. As always, I applaud your art design! <3 **

**Well to be fair, except the Scallywag armour. I think someone took some hits from the bong with that. Or licked a hallucinogenic jungle toad (or frog). :P

No HUGE kitten (a.s.s) in it
No weird stretching
No horn clipping!! there are even holes for it!

Too bad its an outfit (and not really a fan about church theme..) :-P but overal this is the best made set!! really well made! use this as a model for new armor :-)

The armor doesn’t appeal to me personally but I can at least appreciate the effort that went into it and the fact that it’s work that will not provide them any direct income.

They could have easily just given everyone a nesting doll gift box 10 layers deep that held a single Queen Jenna mini.
