The Silent Ones. You know who we are. We are the ones that no one hears. The ones that, when we say “THIS IS NOT THE GAME WE WERE PROMISED” end up feeling like we are shouting in a soundproof room. The ones that never have our voices heard, or acknowledged. Silent. Even when screaming at the top of our lungs, we are mute.

When we say, we want a game different from other MMO’s, we are ignored. And the game turns into yet another WoW clone. Oh, the graphics are better, but the method is the same. And nobody cares, because we are the Silent Ones. The ones that say “You promised no end game, no grind, no excluding us from content”. We are not heard. You have fingers in your ears and are singing LALALALALALA to drown us out. You don’t need to. We are silent. We scream behind glass, where all you see is our agonized expression, as a game we loved upon release immediately is ground beneath the heels of corporate greed. The game made by players, who seem to all be hardcore, because they leave behind the casual gamer. The Silent ones.

We saw the first chance at what could have been something great become something… not so much. Then the second chance. The one we invited our friends to experience, with this magnificent world we explore with such joy. And it crashed and burned. Now we hear our friends ask us what this game has going for it. And we have to shrug, because we have no voice.

ANet, as one of the Silent Ones, I beg you, listen to those of us that make up MOST of your player base. The casual gamer. The ones that don’t want to be shut out of content because our gear isn’t good enough. The ones that want a chance to, if not play it all, then to at least try. If you listen, you can hear a whisper of sound. Do you know what it is? It is the whisper of a tear, tracking slowly down our face. The face that shows such sorrow, such disillusionment, such loss. The face of the Silent Ones. The ones you ignore, in favor of what you want to hear. We want to matter, too. We thought we did.

But we seem to be wrong.

Man, I came in this thread thinking it would be about the “silent majority.” You know, the player base who play the game without really voicing their opinion on forums. I feel betrayed.

Maybe you should change the term to “Unheard.” You’re not being silent at all. You’re yelling very loud, but just not being heard.

If we are not heard, we are silent. And if the ‘silent majority’ doesn’t voice their opinion, then why would you assume it is about them? To me, we ARE the silent majority.

So here I was, at my max level with my max level gear, having a jolly old time, when suddenly, new, better gear comes along and I have to do a dungeon to get it.

Developers: I’m not upset with what you did, I’m upset that you had the nerve to tell me you wouldn’t.

The silent ones are the ones who are in game playing and ignoring all the QQ on these forums.

THOSE are the silent ones who’s voices are not being heard.

As I said, if we are unheard, we are silent. We are ignored. I venture my opinion, no one says anyone has to do more than what has always been done. Ignore it.

And it is planned that you will be able to obtain this gear without running dungeons. That may not help you right now, but as there isn’t a lot of “new and better” gear to be obtained at this point in time, you could always wait if you prefer to avoid dungeons.

That is how I feel at this point. I don’t have full exotics yet and they added another tier I have to reach. I never liked running dungeons much in other games. Bought this one because they said it wouldn’t be needed. I’m sure some others would feel similar if it involved forced WvW or something. Just look at past complaints about the monthly achievements (some were upset they had a WvW requirement in them, other upset when they added dungeon runs).

That said, I am waiting at this point. No reason to freak out yet. Who knows… The upcoming news they announced may introduce new ways to obtain this new bis gear.

If you’re the unheard and silent ones then what are the people enjoying the game not posting on the forums?

You are not being ignored. But what you are being is a drama queen. They said in their article today that they will be doing a Q&A on monday on reddit. If that is not meant to address players fears and to talk to the “unheard and silent” players such as yourself then nothing will give you guys what you want.

I felt bad at first that highest level stat gear was out of my reach due to my playstyle (style over substance ftw), but after awhile I decided that 1.) it doesn’t affect what content I can play and 2.) they may introduce new way to get the gear. So I’m back to explorable runs of SE and CoF to put together my dream ‘castle on fire’ look.

You’re talking, here on the forums, in the same venue that is available to everyone else. The difference is, the rest of us know people are listening even if they aren’t doing as we suggest (or demand, in far too many cases). Whereas, you, seem to believe they aren’t listening if they aren’t doing exactly what you say.

You’re not some godsend prophet deprived of speech by some evil authority, you’re just obsessed with the sound of your own voice and the look of your word in print. Your ideas are given just as much value as those of anyone else.

Did you ever think, for even a fraction of a moment, that they have considered what you demand and concluded that you are… wrong, and that they will not sway to your demands? Apparently not.
