Also, i want to add.

A copper-fed costs 800 gems
A slot costs 700. If you buy both and if you have at least 2 characters the slot repays itself, without mentioning if you have 3 or more!

If you have a salvaging kit is more worth, but is less comfortable since you have to swap it before logging out.

I see their reasoning to keep the price high – it is to give a way for the players to share an item for all the characters without having them buy different copies for each character and valuing more what they buy. Still i think it is a tad too much.

Also, for those talking about crowbars… forget it for your own good, if we start crying for keeping around the characters all the stuff then sure it becomes a programmation toll.

Was waiting for permanent Captain’s Airship Pass to go on sale again, so I had 1k gems set aside. 700 for this slot for my existing pass has saved me 300 gems.

I feel they are:

  • Overpriced
    • Will not even consider purchasing more beyond the above purchased one for other items unless they are on sale for half price. The 700 gem price per slot is ludicrously high.
  • Poorly Implemented
    • We can’t move it to be our bottom bag. I’m annoyed that it is forced to be the top/first slot(s) of our inventory and cannot be moved to be the last slot(s) in our inventory.

Then don’t buy it.

Me, I don’t see the need for it. I do see the usefulness of it (keep a salvage o matic for everyone to share, or maybe a costume brawl item or some other gizmo-class item that you like using a lot, maybe an endless tonic)…. but I think it’s kind of silly.

So I’m not buying it, for that reason. You can choose not to for its cost (which I agree is kind of high; 500-600 would have been my estimation of its value). But I can definitely see others getting it.

It’s definitely a QoL convenience, plain and simple. Many are willing to pay for such things. Others do not. Still others pick and choose their perks, weighing cost and utility.

20 shared slots though? Definitely very much overboard. I really don’t see it topping 10 even in the long run. As for the price…. Anet may tweak it if it doesn’t sell, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. It’ll sell.

I suppose the value of these is partially dependant on what you’d put in them.

I have almost 250 frostbitten tools and I’ve always used Mystic salvage kits (from free forge stones) instead of getting one of the gem store kits. I also don’t need to use the bank, TP etc. often enough that waiting until it’s convenient to go to the HOTM is a problem.

So I’d mainly use it for toys and tonics, and to save time when transferring items between characters. Maybe keep my revive orbs in there since I never have many of them.

Which means they have limited appeal for me.

Whereas I can imagine someone with a Royal Terrace Pass and multiple characters would find it hugely useful.

I like it; bought one for my Royal Terrace Pass. I would rather have it at the bottom on my inventory, though.

For those with Permanent Bank Access (JFW), you might consider leaving the Unlimited Gathering Tools in the Bank, rather than the slots (if not too inconvenient); that would open the 3 slots for something else (since you have to move the Tools on each character, anyway). Just a thought.

You can put permanent harvesting tools in there. When you click on them they’ll swap out with any nonpermanent tools that char has and put those in that slot, so you do need to keep one set of non permanent tools on each char and remember to click on the tools in the shared slots to put them in there when you’re done with that char, but they will go in there.

Maybe it’s not “tidy” but clicking on 3 items is faster than 2 loading screens for WvW/The Mists and running to the bank.

They really made a big mistake on this. This sort of item, should have not even been a thought of actually making it through the people it made it through.

1) Previous GEM buyers usually buy more than 1 of a “unlimited use” item, such as a gathering tool or toy or pass. Which now is being able to be shared. The GEMS used to buy more than one “unlimited use” items has now been a waste of GEMS purchase.

2) A refund should be in order. From a managerial stand point, there will be a lot of problems with ANET getting constant messages on why this is bad or what they can do to make it better.

3) From sending in messages, you make the buyers heard. At the same time, they other end receiving and reading the email’s will most likely not do much.

I really have no idea why people think this is overpriced. Sure, it could be a little cheaper, but compared to having to buy any item from the gem store for even 2, let alone 5+ characters is going to be made WAY cheaper with just 1 of these slots. You can store a Infinite-use bank, harvesting tools, salvage-o-matics, legendaries, etc. All worth at least 700 gems, if not far more. These shared slots aren’t meant to store everything you own. I would prefer they add additional slots exclusively for equipment, in sets of 6 or so, for the same price, but other than that, I think it’s reasonable, plus it’s very modular, they can add more slots as time goes on. But remember that because this isn’t for just anything, and it’s intended for super valuable stuff, it doesn’t (and shouldn’t) be super cheap. If they made a whole bag slot for 700 gems, that would be less than 40 gems for 1 slot, 1 slot that could hold something like a permanent infinite-use bank item which prior to this you would need 1 per character. This addition will potentially take a lot of other sales from ANet, so appreciate it for what it does, and not what it isn’t.
