I only bought 1 copper-salvage-o-matic, and so the account bound character slot would be a good investment for me. Although it’s a bit too pricy at the moment I would surely buy it when it goes on sale.

Feels kinda like a desperate move to squeeze that extra bit of money from the loyal fans, honestly I find this really disgusting, this is not how you go around doing things. I’m not sure that this is a valid reason to get a refund tho, people who bought the salvage tools bought them for a reason and have used them. Just because there’s an account wide slot doesn’t mean the tool is useless, enough other items that can be put in the slot.

I echo most everyone here. Price is way too high, kind of a rip off IMO.

I initially thought it was a bag slot in my inventory panel, and I thought “genius!” What a brillant idea. I was so excited to buy 1 or 2. Then I opened TP and finally read the fine print more carefully and saw it was for just 1 tiny slot. Then I decided, I’d save my gems for something else.

exactly my thoughts.

The price is way too high and only max 5 slots are too few. With 5 slots I still have to go to the bank/vault to transfer some items between characters. And when I still have to go the the bank/vault, I do not need even one of this slots.

Nice one. This is a huge QOL increase for 700 gems. If you have copper-fed salvage that is. 500 would prolly be a better price but 700 is acceptable.

Permanent bank access looks more enticing now.

It seems that most people who say they are happy with the sale are those who have one of the few items that really benefit a lot from the slots. And that is understandable.
As I have written in my first post, there are some items (first and foremost the permanent banking contract) which offer a huge and awesome synergy with these slots. If I had a permanent banking contract I probably would have given in and bought one of those slots too, although I am insanely disappointed in the choice of implementation.

But how many people own these rare permanent items? These are not common items most players have, even after years of play. So just because you have them and feel the price is justified, don’t forget that a overwhelming majority of players does not, and understand their point of view.

For players whithout a permanent banking contract or “pass”, there are still a few items that have decent synergy, most mentioned were permanent gathering and salvage tools. Many people think the price is a bit high, but bought the slots for use with those items.

So why are so many people angry and feel like the slots are overpriced? One reason is because there are still tons of items that would benefit from such slots, and with the introduced limitations of price and quantity those items will never make it into one of these slots.

People have buff food, instruments and toys, HoT zone key items and transformation potions they would love to use on whatever alt they are. Also there are loads and loads of fun consumables you could carry around with you, if you had the space. But you don’t. It is sad to see just how many items this game has to offer that were designed with no other purpose than just to have a little fun or a giggle once in a while, which are never used because you would need a 500slot-inventory to have them available for use, and the sheer number of items you would really like to carry around with your on all chars all of them time is what makes people ask for shared bag slots instead of inventory slots.

It’s anything in your inventory that’s not soulbound. I bought 5 and put my copper fed, permanent bank access and 3 permanent harvesting tools in them. They are now shared across all my chars. Even my chars harvesting flax way out in the middle of nowhere have all of these items now.

Your permanent harvesting tools don’t work when they are in the inventory. You have to equip them before use and unequip them before you log out.

Yes, that is not much work, but on the other hand, pressing “G”, and going to the scribe station in the guild hall (or going into a WvW-borderlands-map for a bank) and putting my permanent harvesting tools and the copper fed (and several other map currencies and items that I want on “all” my chars) in my bank, is also not much work.

So for me: The price is way too high and it would not even give me better QoL because I have more than 5 items to transfer between characters.

Nice feature, why didn’t you implement it earlier? Now I have at least one spare set of gathering tools and a spare copper fed salvage o matic that are now useless. will you refund me for that?

To make the slots even more useful, you could make 3 of the slots configurable so they are directly the slots of the gathering tools so you would not have to change them every time.
Also a few more slots would be nice.

As a proud owner of all types of “permanent” items (bank, TP, merch, etc.) I bought the slots immediately and get a lot of convenience out of them. I’d like to see further slots added, since there are still some items I would like to have accessible from all characters. Also, account bound harvesting tool slots would be nice (yeah I know, people with multiple sets of harvesting tools might not like that idea… but one can still dream, right?)

One thing that bugs me about the account bount inventory slots: I would like to be able to move those slots elsewhere (bottom of inventory), since that’s where my salvage kits and such are normally placed. I find the placement in the top row rather annoying tbh.

Finally. Great feature anet. I bought all five of them yesterday. Can’t understand why ppl are obsessing over having muliple Copper-fed salvage-o-matics. I mean this happening was always “a risk”. I have plenty of lvl 80’s but didn’t buy multiple gemstore-items since I was waiting for something like this. I don’t wanna spend all my gems on one kind of item.

Maybe you bought 5 salvage-o-matics and spent a lot of gems. And you were perfectly happy with this. Now 3,5 years into the game you get upset because players can buy the same comfort for 700gems per item? That’s just grudging behaviour.

And ppl wanting this feature basically for free? Wouldn’t that undermine previous gem purchases even more? I think the pricing is in line with the convenience of the item.

It is a good idea. I don’t agree with the high price or the the tiny number of slots, though. A normal inventory slot costs you 40 gems if you use 20 slot bags (800gems/bag). Which means the shared slots are 17.5 times more expensive than the normal ones.

Would have expected something along the lines of an account wide bag slot for twice the normal price. Many of us would have bought one or two of those. The convenience of using potions, swapping gear, game items, toys, tonics, etc.

It is rather disappointing to see us progress towards a F2P game with cash shop prices such as these even though the game is actually B2P at it’s core.
This no longer seems to be the game that made dyes (when we already had one of the best dye systems I have seen) account wide as a convenience for their players.

I’m pretty happy with these, best QoL update in a long, long while.

Now, if only we could chose where to put them. My characters all have bagless inventories, and the 5 inserted slots completely shift everything into ruin. I keep all permanently carried stuff on the bottom anyway, as far away as possible from where loot accumulates. I’m used to keeping the type of items I put in these shared slots in the bottom and that’s where I’d prefer these.

Please add an option to chose where these slots appear. At their pricing they shouldn’t come with niggling little frustrations at all.

Since gw2 release I spent over 400€ only on gw2, even more money since gw1. For me yesterday’s update was like a hit in the face. Actually now most of the money and thousand’s of ingame gold I spent changed into a total useless waste.

So as soon as I saw the patch notes yesterday I wrote (a friendly!) support ticket (ticket number 2047273), asking for a refund. I couldn’t add a screenshot so basically I wrote the following list and asked if it is possible to refund them or at least partial refund some of the items.

- 4x Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic
- 1x Royal Terrace Pass
- 5x Molten Alliance Mining Pick
- 12x Consortium Harvesting Sickle
- 1x Thresher-Sickle 5000
- 5x Chop-It-All Logging Axe
- 20x Watchwork Mining Pick

Of course I know that there is now way that I get every “multiple” item refunded, because some have been bought with bundles or special offers.

Sadly the 3 line answer from support was:
“We have reviewed your request to be refunded for the items that you purchased before the induction of the Shared Inventory Slot. However this time we won’t be able to grant you with the refund for those items. Please keep in mind that purchases from the Gem Store are seldom refundable, and as sometimes we are able to help, this time we will have to deny your request.”

Truthfully, I don’t like that answer. I can’t understand that non of the items is even partial or for 50% or for anything refundable.

Currently this just leaves a very sad and disstatisfied long time customer.

It would be great if from the developer side someone could check the ticket or if anyone has an idea what/how I could/should answer to the support.

It is not about any number here. It is about ArenaNet charging such a high price for such a tiny QoL improvement. It could have been an awesome idea if it had many slots at a reasonable price. I’d gadly pay much more than $7 if it was actually worth my while and not just a quick money grab.
The supportive nature a customer might have will quickly disappear if you make him feel that you only care about your revenue.

That is the major problem I have with this. It is actually worth the price only to a limited amount of players using a very limited amount of items.
It could have been something half of the population bought (even multiple times) if they made it like I suggested or anything similar.

You know with the all the probable crap you bought for this game, you are probably dumped more then 500 bucks to this game.

When I start to play GW2, the attraction was it was a MMO that I don’t have to pay subscription.

Now if we say monthly sub for 10 bucks 500 bucks is 50 months of subscriptions, so playing GW2 does not make that much sense.

With buying GW2, HoT and some character/bank slots, I paid around 200 bucks to this game and I plan that it stay at this amount, this game does not worth 500 bucks.

To be perfectly honest, this no longer surprises me. This is just the next step in a long line of money-grabs that ANet has become known for to me. I have lost so much respect for ANet that I can barely log into the game for more than 30 seconds at a time to get my daily chest. I played for a few hours the other night, but seeing this makes me regret it.

Reading through this post, I see many ANet apologists who are, for some reason, defending this. “It’s optional!” or “Don’t be so entitled!” are thrown around as though these arguments carried any sort of weight to them. I hate to tell you this, but as a paying customer, I AM entitled to voice my concerns, optional content or not.

I am voicing my concern because I feel that this game is great. I have played it since the early release day on Aug. 25th. I’m sitting on 18 characters, thousands of hours of game play, and a fair amount of money given to ANet because I enjoy the game. But this, this is just embarrassing to look at.

Dear diary, today i saw how much the nearsight of the players can get.

People asking for more slots so they can trade gear between characters. Too bad that not only the potential 6 professions of your account would not like to see the armored gear of the other 3 but also that the gear is soulbound on equip, making the operation impossible even with a bank.

People asking for more slots for stuff that is cheap, or that is useful only in situational cases, or both. Stuff like crowbars and alikes for HoT or for food, that might and might not be wanted for every character on the account.

People saying “Duh else you can get to the HoT”, avoiding the fact that this makes you go across 2 loading screens and that ejects you out of your current map, like just after defeating Tequatl. Not a big deal for those that stay always in HotM probably, but lucky them then.

And then, people completely disregarding the economics of the game, where a copper salvage fed worth 800 can be shared with every other character with a price of 700 for a potential value of 800 x character gems making it useful with only a second character, completely overriding the needs of a player to buy stuff more than once and reducing the potential income overall of the company.
Also people calling Anet greedy for something not forced and that makes a player spend less money for an higher value service is plain ridiculous to me. The only complain that i have is that you have to necessarily have bought something with an high gem price before making a good use of it, so i would have liked it to cost less or have the ability to “boundle” it with gem store items.
Maybe is not everyone’ s piece of cake, but still has its worth for those who like it.

Also, for those who are asking refunds for items already bought multiple times: you have my sympathy and i hope Anet will manage something for you, but i hardly doubt you will get one. Simply because you don’ t have the right to do so. If something is broken or is not deemed fitting then there can be refund rights, but if something becomes outdated ( which is not the exact case, but is similar enough ) you still have benefited of that thing for a long time, and you decided to invest your income into that. No one forced you to do so and no one admitted that there would not be a way to share items for your characters ( and actually that already existed for a long time ), that was your choice weighted by you.

Alright so I haven’t read all the posted in this merged topic. But I notice a lot of discussion about the prize. So I googled a bit and found these (and a lot more):

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Add-5-slot-Account-Shared-inv-bags

“Five slots, make it a gem store item, even an expensive one. I’d buy it.”

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Create-a-Special-Account-8-Slot-Bag

“and id pay 2000gems for such a thing whilst i never spent any gems at all for some bank acess things”

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Character-bag-slots-1

“I would pay 3 times the price of a regular bag extension to get an account bound bag extension.”

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Make-bag-slot-upgrades-account-wide

“I’m simply voicing my opinion that I WOULD DEFINITELY 100% WITHOUT A DOUBT BUY extra inventory slots if they were account wide and cost the same or slightly higher than buying another character slot (currently $10 I believe).”

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/A-Bag-Slot-that-all-Characters-can-use

“I would easily pay ~2000 gems for this feature, maybe 600 gems per character or something similar (price of a new bank tab), and on top of that Id spend a lot more for all the stuff i can now easily use on all my characters.”

“Think of all the people, like myself, who would be willing to throw down $100+ just to buy all the bags at once for all their alts.”

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Account-shared-Bags-1/first

“These shared bag slots would cost ~600-800 Gems.”

Seems like people have been asking for this a lot (there are a lot more posts about this but I can’t possibly link them all :P) And even though there are people who said they wouldn’t pay as much, there were people happily telling the forum that they’d pay a lot for them. So I suppose I can see where their price indication came from….

Personally I’ll wait till they’re on sale.. or at least I will ‘casually’ get the gold together to buy a slot. And I’ll probably start saving for the 2 remaining harvesting tools I need.

Would have been worth 700 gems. If I had not bought 5 sets of farming tools already (15k Gems).

Well rising Dusk made a good post to explain why they should as they already refunded for previous case such as account binding mining tool, etc..

As for refunds: if you’ve had these account-bound items for ages, we won’t be doing refunds because you’ve already derived substantial benefit. If, however, you bought them more recently, we’re doing refunds on a case-by-case basis.

I appreciate the response, but respectfully contend that I don’t think this is an appropriate stance for customer support to take. When infinite gathering tools became account bound, players were able to get complete refunds for the extras that they did not need any longer regardless of time purchased. Additionally, when the wardrobe went live players were able to get complete refunds for any town clothes previously purchased regardless of time purchased. This situation is no different. Players’ gem store items become obsolete with the acquisition of this new functionality, and their permanent items that are no longer useful should be refunded regardless of time purchased. Seriously, with an account bound bag slot the best course of action regarding extra items like Salvage-o-Matics is to destroy them. That feels horrible and should not be something you guys proliferate.

Please reconsider your stance.

Give me the oppportunity to buy a permanent bank access in the gemstore (without the rng of chests) and I buy it
Otherwise, it is too expensive (eventhough for copper salvage matic because i have one on each character already)

TL,DR of most of this thread:

People with a permanent bank contract: “Yay, awesome value for money, thanks Anet, all you other players shut up, this is great, how dare you complain”

People without a permanent bank contract: “…”

Youtube “L2villagejester”.
People using belittling wording like whining/qqing" are not taken seriously by me
Same for people posting only to tell others not to post (“deal with it”-posts)

I’m very happy with my 5 account slots. And I’ll not use them for any bank contract or even permanent gemstore-items. Tarrktun-merchant, ley line matter converter, mystic salvage kits and the last two I have no idea yet

Seems like people have been asking for this a lot (there are a lot more posts about this but I can’t possibly link them all :P) And even though there are people who said they wouldn’t pay as much, there were people happily telling the forum that they’d pay a lot for them. So I suppose I can see where their price indication came from…

Quite a few of those you quoted were thinking about shared bag slots though which would have been fair by most people’s standards and I’d have bought it right away.

Personally I’m glad I didn’t buy extra Copper feds, harvesting tools and passes but even so the price of these slots made me wince. Those who did buy them, how the hell could they have seen this coming when ANet’s ignored many suggestions (and bug reports!) in the past? I don’t think those people are stupid, just unfortunate. Given the refunds in the past, I don’t see why this situation should be any different. At the very least they should be able to do something with the excess items they no longer need other than destroy them or have them taking up space.

I’ll be waiting for either a change in price or a sale before I touch these and yes, it’s made me very wary about further gem store purchases of any kind now. It’s not because I can’t afford them, just I don’t feel that they’re value for money for me as an individual. Especially given how the Permanent Bank Access Contracts are in such limited (currently non-existent) supply.

This is basic profit maximization.

Introduce a new shiny at a high price, everyone who will pay that price pays it. When sales drop off, discount it a bit, everyone who will pay the new price buys it. Continue until new shiny is delivered.

I’ll buy mine on sale.

What the kitten, is slot 5 toilet paper?!? No one told me we had access to toilet paper!
