So here’s an idea I had – why can’t we have shield skins that we’ve unlocked used as a pack piece skin?

I mean – most if not all shields would look pretty good on our character’s backs. And there’s already a million other ridiculous things that are considered “fine” and got the a-ok to become backpieces so why not have shields do that too?

It would be a pretty cool addition to the game in my opinion.

What do you guys think?

From what I’ve experienced at the moment, whenever you have a shield equipped and are out of combat, the shield does become your backpiece. Although, when in combat, your original back piece returns as you wield your shield.

So half of the request is already there, but I do think it would be a reasonable idea to have some back pieces that are shields, or an option to equip your shield skin as your back piece.

Although, it wouldn’t be very realistic then to be in combat with your shield still on your back.

Then don’t equip them at the same time. It’s not like you’re being forced to, and there are plenty of weapons already like greatswords and hammers and staffs that already clip through back-pieces, this would be no different.

Personally I would like to see more weapons than just shields to be allowed to be equipped as back-pieces, if only for RP or decorative purposes. Like carrying a ceremonial or family sword that you never actually use in day to day combat.

One of the best suggestions I’ve seen on these forums to date.

Fair and true – but what happens when you have a whatever else thing as a back piece and a shield equipped?

I think shields would be fine compared to the existing selection.

What if my shield is there for other purposes. What if I’m wielding a 2 handed weapon?

I don’t think it wouldn’t work aesthetically. I mean look at some of the other backpiece skins we have – some of them are just WAY more over the top than a shield would ever be.

I thought they would add more stuff like this when they added the Quiver thing. Sadly it didn’t happen.
It would be fun to be able to equip all sorts of things – crests, daggers, all sorts of things that would look more like things someone would wear on their backs as opposed to a LOT of the things we have to pick from now ( furniture, books, and other completely useless items).

This would be nice. Sadly I think this would be the only chance I would ever get to display my Flameseeker in PvE land. My favorite beautiful yet useless weapon.

What if warrior elite spec is double shield weapons? That means we could have triple shield with a shield on our backs and 2 shields in our hands aka infinite toughness from all angles and thus would birth the foundation of the all mighty pure tank aka one slice of ‘holy trinity’.

All jokes aside, I don’t think it’d work. As interesting as it sounds I can just imagine ridiculous clipping issues.
