Should a new profession be Heavy Armoured?
I want one more heavy armoured profession since i only like to play with heavy ^^
Sure, why not. The question is what kind of role it will serve in group combat. I’m thinking something like a warlock or battle-mage could work, where it’s like a guardian but with control instead of support skills.

An Iron Monk!
mesmer,ele,necro = range (light armor)
thief,ranger,engi = melee+range (medium armor)
warrior,guardian = melee + range (heavy armor)

There’s 1 profession called commando =D
I personally wanna see ArenaNet’s take on a Shadowknight type class.
Minstrel, nuff said.
I think you are over thinking too much here. Certainly the game could use more Heavy Armour classes and I am sure they will come in future with expansions. If they bring in the Paragon from GW 1 for example I should imangine it would be a heavy armour class.
Heavy + medium!
Since i want them to introduce Ritualists next, i’m obviously against making the next prof heavy armor one.

Oh how I miss me some Ghost Spamming!!!!
On Topic: Sure another heavy class. I play a Guardian but not interested in Warrior. A control class would be nice. C’mon get yer stun on!
Only class I could think that would fit into a 3rd heavy armor class would be Barbarian.
lv80 Necromancer, all professional skills unlocked, working on the final norn elite skills.
Paragon.
100% ranged, low base vit and low base toughness.
Class mechanic: Chants: Chant of Command, Chant of Leadership, Chant of Motivation.
Command + Command: + Vit
Leadership + Leadership: + Tough
Motivation + Motivation: + Power
Command + Leadership: + Prec
Command + Motivation: + Con Duration
Leadership + Command: + Crit Damage
Leadership + Motivation: + Con Damage
Motivation + Command: + Healing
Motivation + Leadership: + Boon Duration
Weapons: Longbow, Pistol, Shield, Warhorn, Torch.

This profession does not exist. It was created by ArenaNet specifically for April Fools’ Day 2011.
Deathknight!
Oh …what?….wait….has that been done before?!
This thread seems to be missing the point I made in the OP. I was saying that just because there are 2 heavy classes and 3 of the other two is not a straight forward reason for adding another heavy armour class. There are more factors to consider than this.
Actually, in the example I gave, if the number of professions available represented the playerbase, then it’s potentially more reasonable to have more professions of the type most players play.
For example, if hypothetically:
% ppl playing light = 20%
% ppl playing medium = 30%
% ppl playing heavy = 50%
then there’s possibly good marketing sense to make the number of professions in each category represent this distribution (i.e., of 10 professions make 2 light, 3 medium, 5 heavy).
Of course, this is all based on the hypothesis that the playerbase is naturally skewed towards some play-styles that are represented by the armour types worn.

Considering that a single armor type can cover such different classes as engineer, ranger and thief, with significantly differing playing styles, that hypothesis doesn’t sound that correct to me.

Out of left field but I still like the idea of any class using any armor but with movement penalties…
Yep. We want another heavy arm.
Next profession will be Ritualist imo.
A Ritualist was in the screenshots of the last blog post.
The class was somewhat boring to me in GW1 but others love it so be it.
I’d much rather see a cloth user that uses buffs and enchants to increase his armor and stats so we could see a cloth melee user. An armor wearing caster really isn’t going to do it for me, but these are the only 2 things this game seems to be missing.
