Yes, fine I know this is complaining and it has probably been said a billion times. And you’re all tired of hearing it. But I feel like I can’t compete with other people who play this game 24/7 and precursors just feel so out of reach. I would NOT mind paying the gold necessary to buy the precursor right off the TP. However, if I’m going to farm the gold to buy it, I would like my target to be set. For example, Spark was 500g a couple of days ago, now it’s 600g. I’m trying to farm the gold for it but I can only do so much with the time allotted to me. It feels like I’m chasing a never-ending target. It’ll probably be even more next month but I’ll still be making gold at the same rate. I really hope another way of acquiring them will come soon.

because of the grindy and easily exploitive nature of this months update, the TP is experiencing a major inflation issue, just wait a little longer and still save and it will drop.

I don’t think this inflation is going to be temporary. I can’t help but feel the developers are going to keep pandering to the hardcore “MOAR LOOT” farmers, meaning influx of new gold will far outweigh the capable of gold sinks to remove it.

Why do people always try to mock those they disagree with by using poor grammar? “moar loot”? Really?

I usually see it as a sign of criticizing a specific group within those who are being talked about. I think the poster you are mentioning made that comment specifically talking about the players who, by lacking long-term planning and thinking only on the short term, have asked ArenaNet for more ways to farm so they could afford more things in the TP. The logical (and obvious) flaw in that line of thought is that people farming more would add more gold to the economy and increase prices, thus new farming places wouldn’t make people afford more of most items in the TP, but many players are not smart enough to think beyond the “moar loot NAO” mentality.

I have to agree, not specifically about presursors as I don’t really care about them, but just about the general state of the in game economy. If the super lucrative farming is going to continue at even a fraction of what it currently is, it’s going to continue to drive the prices of everything upwards. This basically just means two things: First, status quo for those who do farm on a consistent basis as any extra money they do make will be siphoned off by higher prices. Second, those who don’t join in the consistent farming will just fall farther and farther behind the curve.

Of course, this also impacts very other area of the game not only economically but just purely in terms of activity. As COF1 demonstrated with dungeons, if there is One Best way to do something, that’s what “everyone” is going to be doing and any coimpeting activities will be drained of life.

Yep. I don’t know if I’m reading this right, but it looks like inflation’s already hitting ectos.

Second, those who don’t join in the consistent farming will just fall farther and farther behind the curve.

That’s the worse of it. If someone plays casually, or refuses to participate in the non-stop farming zerg, they’re going to see what little gold they have become worthless. “A day’s wages for a loaf of bread.”

I would think the price of precursor would drop because of tier5 material and mystic forge. I guess wrong I suppose.

Let’s start with: nobody is entitled to a legendary weapon. Whatever you do in game, however much gold you earn, however many events you complete, however many hours you play, you are not entitled to a legendary weapon. Once that’s understood there’s no point complaining about how much time it takes for players (who feel entitled to a legendary) to collect the money and materials needed. Once you accept that legendary weapons are a bonus and not a day to day goal, you can find happier ways to spend your in game time.

Or people who aren’t hardcore farmers will just get fed up as more and more items become unreachable to them and just move on to something else which is already pretty evident on most servers. Me personally, I mostly still play cause it’s free and gives me something to do inbetween other games I play and games i’m waiting for. If this game had a monthly fee, I would have quit a long time ago. This game is great for what it is, a “filler” game. All the clothes and skins you buy from the gem store make it feel like Barbie dress up with swords. If you accept that this game is one you hop on casually and mess around and that it’s not a “dedicated” game like EQ1, EQ2, WoW, AoC or any of the other MMOs that had requirements where you had to work as a team or be in a guild to progress, then you will enjoy it much more.

Exactly, and those people are breaking the game for others. I for one have stopped playing the game a few days after the “glorious” queen’s pavilion farm. This isn’t a game anymore, it’s a grind.

But the logical (and obvious) flaw in your line of though is this: not everything in the game is bought off of the TP. Gold being easier to obtain also means stuff like T3 armor and expensive crafting materials sold only by vendors (such as Runes of Holding) become relatively easier to obtain.

All this game is is a mindless grind to get skins. There really isn’t new content, just rehashed, throw in a new skin on an old mob which is the reason I said if you just accept it as that and not as a content based game and just casually use it as “filler”, you will be much happier. The queen’s pavilion farm was fun though for about 15 mins kind of like the Frostgorge and Cursed Shores zerg champ farms.
