Why?
It is just a balance patch, it ain’t that big of a deal. Or to be more precise it is better to be cautiously optimistic than overly hype.

Leaked Necro changes:
- Necromancer minions now turn on their master after 30 seconds.
- Epidemic now spreads conditions to allies.
- Necromancer base movement speed decreased by 50%.
As a ranger main (for life!) I expect nothing but nerfs, and no fixes at all for the thing that defines this class – our pets.
No worries though – we’re used to it, and we always find a way to stand strong, even though we have most of the community and apparently most of the devs working against us.
Flippin numbers around in a spreadsheet and call that ‘balance’ is a joke, just so you know.

Why would zerg balance matter? The whole point of a zerg is to be unbalance at least more so than PvP and PvE. Also roaming isn’t going to be balance because the game is based around teams of 5 not 1v1.
So the big question:
Will balance between the classes in WvW both zerg/roaming be considered even once or is this a pure PvE/sPvP rebalance as usual?
Uhm wasn’t that last balance patch when a WvW fix Ruined the PVE meta? They nerfed Signet of Inspiration and then PVE Revs into the ground to fix WvW zergs with perma-quickness?

Then they could handle SPVP and WvW together and the PVP players would no longer have to deal with PVE Gear.

I don’t know why balance devs don’t bother to put the changes for testing and push these changes with utter disregard for player feedback.
It’s all done so surreptitiously.

As someone who uses impact strike…. pls no more invulnerably on down state in wvw. I can dream.

I’m just wondering why Wednesday? Did the snow storm and subsequent power failure cause all updates (not just Head of the Snake) to get pushed forward from the normal Tuesday to now Wednesday, making Wednesday the normal patch day from now on?
Interesting to see what will change.
All I want is for them to reverse the STUPID pve nerf changes made in the last one.

Revenant and mesmer changes made to PVE for the sake of kitten WvW and sPVP.
Now I’m scared Mesmer will be dumpstered and DH buffed.

WvW is not, has never been and was never intended to be only a “PvP Mode”. It’s PvPvE, a very common game mode in MMOs going back long before GW2. Of course, you could still have PvPvE using standardized gear if you wanted to. Personally I think that would be a terrible idea but each to their own.
Like almost every suggestion on these forums, though, there’s no danger of it happening. WvW is what it is for better or for worse. Maybe GW3 will do things differently – if any of us live long enough to see it…

Make Necromancer great again!
Whatever they do, as long its only skill changes, then this patch will change nothing.
It will go like a droplet of water onto a burning hot stone …..pooooof, so meaningful will that patch be for the game.
This game has seen over the years enough skill number changes..and what have they brought GW2? Nothing.
What GW2 needs now is not Skill Changes. It needs Combat Mechanic Changes.
Starting with the most impactful ones that can really bring a wind of change to this game – a fresh one, that will revitalize GW2 and bring it back to its former glory it had within the first two years after release.
Basically its more needed, than these 2 things (Upgrades, Attributes to name two same as important big parts of the whole Combat System and the Class Balance that comes from these mechanics that go hand in hand…)
But change just these 2 things for now… Redesigning the Boons/Conditions and reduce them in their total amount, while rebalancing all Classes based on an overall change in how Base Health is handled for all Classes and these two things will be for 100% sure far more effective in rebalancing the game, than like douzends of Skill Balance Patchs, which do nothing else than permanently changing only numbers of skills and traits.
Personally I’ve enough of simple Skill Changes, seriously, I can’t see this word anymore.
Permanent Skill Changes are the act of the of the uninspired.
Its something that very conservative people do only, which have no clues, how they should touch their game to bring it back onto the right track and which just hope, if they make just here and there every few months some skill number changes on traits and skills, that this alone will be enough to balance a game the size like GW2 that has way more mechanics that play a very important role in balancing the Classes as a whole, than only Skills.
I clearly say, after watching for 5 years now, what this kind of attitude brings to a game – no , this is not enough.
You need to have also the bravery to make neccessary steps – bigger changes, that are if needed – more impactful than just only skill changes to shake up a game like GW2 strong enough and to revitalize it with the changes, so that you can retain players better and make the game more fun again.
Especially for all of its game modes, PvE, as like Pvp and WvW, without that any of these modes suffers from the changes intended to effect only a specific mode, which is also why people demand since a long time, that skill balancing should be completely split among all game modes!
Incoming biggest complaint thread, can’t wait to see what wvw gets blamed for next.
Also if this doesn’t involve an improvement of the bloated boons/conditions system for combat introduced with HoT, this is gonna be a mega yawn of a balance patch.
Hmm by the looks of it people want epidemic nerf get ready for nerf incoming.
But yes I’m a little worried about the other classes.

One post says “buy ascended gear faster, because we’re going to increase its cost soon”.
And then another tells you “don’t spend anything now, because any build you may make can get invalidated in few days from now”

^ This. It sux having to work hard to keep 10~20 secs of alacrity and when we share it the ally gets around 5 secs >.<

What do you expect, the developers love their thieves. If you were a developer and you love to play with thieves, you most likely improve their class to have advantage over others. You most likely give the thief lots of dodges, lots of evade skills, lots of blinds, lots of blocks, lots of stun breakers, and lots of stealth, oh and lots of DPS.

As ranger and long time player I can only agree. “Balance” is the code word for nerf and increasing grind. There is absolutely no reason that they can’t share the info about the changes now and open them to discussion imho.

You’ve either never played or bothered paying attention in an RvR game – some semblance of balance is always necessary. There’s a massive difference in the quality of WvW gameplay, for both roaming and zerg playstyles, pre- and post- HoT. These platitudes about how the game mode is “supposed to be unbalanced” (what does that even mean???) or how the game isn’t meant to be balanced around such large groups just ensures that WvW will continue to decline (although compared to what it once was, it’s already dead). RvR style combat needs balance attention, too; ignore it, and it withers away.

It’s still a PVP centric game mode.
As such, balance for this mode should’ve been separate from the get go.
nerfing any X game mode skill for the sake of any other game mode is moronic, PERIOD !
It’s probably irrational to hope that, after this update, a burn guardian will have to do a little more that strut through my lingering Overload Air field with his shield out, to safely kill me within the build-up time of my condition cleanse, isnt it?
