I like my characters to be attractive. I like to put them in attractive clothing. I often feel that less is more…
Perhaps I am being premature; but several games, have had a very noisy groups of prudes. Being so vocal and outspoken they get attention, and as the level cap raised or new content was added, the female armor became more and more Concealing. I do not want that happening here!
The problem is many of us just play the game and simply ignore the opinions of people we disagree with. “They are crazy, who would listen to them?” If you don’t speak up, then all anet sees is a bunch of noisy prudes, who have no apparent opposition within the community…

Silence is often taken as a sign of agreement…

A simple post consisting of a quote and an, “I disagree.” is enough.

If you don’t like a trend then speak up and be counted. No need to elaborate or defend your position. No need to answer a call out by the opposition. Your preference is justified because it is your preference.

I don’t want female humanoids to look like blocky robots, nuns, or bigfoot.
By all means let us continue to have large and interesting shaped cleavage windows, bare midriffs, and eye high skirts! Especially in new content!

Agree or disagree?

As long as male characters are included, I wouldn’t mind.

Plus, more freedom with character appearance is a positive in my head, anyways.

So long as there are OPTIONS I couldn’t care less. I don’t mind if someone wants to run around in near no clothes, so long as others have the option to run around in more concealing clothing. Personally I love things like the cabalist armour on females as a pose to say, masquerade armour. So long as options are there, all is good.

I think you’re worrying needlessly. If ANet’s track record is anything to go by, there will be enough skimpy and concealing outfits to satisfy both sides of the player base. I’m personally quite happy with the selection of armors as it is right now.

All of those female human thieves and rangers aren’t saving up for the T3 cultural because of it’s practicality.

Same goes for winged armor. I’ve seen people craft the level 60 set just so they can transmute it to a new lvl 2 character.

I think there are and will be plenty of options both ways.

I agree. As long as there’s enough options for both. I’m female and I hate running around with a character whose breasts are falling out of their armour. I don’t care if someone else wants it though :P I’ve played too many mmos where that was the only option for a female character though and I’d hate for THAT to happen.

I say more skimpy male armour. There’s definitely not enough of that. There’s only two that I can think of that show some chest.

I wear trench coats in life. I wear fur coats (fake fur but still fur looking). I wear pants, long sleeve shirts with no cleavage, simple flat shoes for daily comfort. I look at other people who wear the same clothes (generally) all day long at work, on the street, even on a night out, it is generally the same clothing, maybe just flashier colours and some glitter on the eye-lids.

Even if i REALLY wanted to wear those beautiful fantasy clothing to work I could not. I live in cold and harsh Canadian climate. Even if i do manage to get by, I will be given a warning and shortly fired very fast.

Then I get home from work, I want to emerge myself in this fantasy of a video game. I want magic abilities, I want dragons, I want a beautiful magical world to look at. I certainly do not feel right to wear the same clothes in game as I wear at work. Kind of kills the fantasy aspect there.

As a girl, I have to agree. I play a class with Medium armor and the medium armor is the worst offender of them all! I’m not asking for Tera skimpy, I just want form-fitting clothing. A lot of the medium armor consists of Trench coats and I hate them so, so much.

Charr get such nice fur patterns… and then nearly all their armor hides it -_-

I’m not really even asking for skimpy armor in any traditional sense – I just want to be able to have something to see for all the time I spend fiddling with the colors & patterns in the char gen – I mean, its actually visually interesting and distinct charr-to-charr (unlike the sea of trenchcoats >.>). Heck, even the NPC charr get some (what appear to be) town clothes options like this but aren’t afaik obtainable by players. The people actually after skimpy would benefit by having more options that would translate to showing more skin on humanoids.

Also more non-trenchcoat options for medium armor please. I mean, there is very little visual distinction between the vast majority of medium armors.

And while I’m at it, I might as well throw in that it’d be awesome if all those terrible clipping issues for charr armor (esp Horns, Ears, Tail) got fixed.

You seem to be talking only about female characters, which makes my knee-jerk response to your post one of irritation and NO.

Personally, if I complain/comment about female armor being too skimpy, it is almost always because the female armor is skimpy and the male armor is not. This is sexist and it bothers me, so I make my thoughts on the matter known. I am certainly no “prude”, and in fact often enjoy dressing my girls in pretty, sexy clothes, and I would kindly ask that people such as the OP consider the fact that it is not merely “prudes” that complain about skimpy female armor.

Give both genders equally skimpy/sexy gear, and I give this suggestion a thumbs up. Otherwise, I emphatically disagree.

I apologize if this came out too harshly — I just tend to be a bit defensive as this topic is often met with "yeah sexy ladies, we want skimpy gear! . . . what now, sexy dudes? eew lol no -posts picture of a buff guy in a skimpy pink unicorn outfit-" or some other such intelligently phrased variation. xD

I want to see Elite Canthan make a return. As it is the sexiest non-revealing set because it just accentuates her curves and is very tight on her body. I wore it a lot in GW1 as one of my four main sets.

My warrior is a lady and I’m not really interested in equipping her with something absurdly skimpy like the armor you see in games like Final Fantasy X-2, TERA or Perfect World. Don’t get me wrong, I quite enjoy that kind of eye candy but I want my warrior to look cool before she looks sexy, there’s half the Internet for the latter. =P

If I could make a request for my warrior’s armor, it would be something that looks knightly like the Elite Templar Armor from Guild Wars 1. It reveals some cute leg skin but it still looks like heavy armor and the lady looks very heroic wearing it.

I think it would also be really cool to have a berserker armor; something that looks like Diablo II’s barbarian. To justify that being in the “heavy” armor class, make the kilt and boots in metal and make the chest armor include metal bracer and big shoulder, but leave the chest exposed.

I strongly disagree, sure, guess they can add some town clothes like that but I for one was glad to see that female armor is actually armor, nothing makes me roll my eyes more then the skimpy “armor” you see for female characters in many games, same with high heels. Tera being the most extreme example, so over the top I view that game as a parody! :P

Im a guy that plays a Sylvari female. I deliberately try to avoid wearing skimpy outfits, this being helped by the fact im a warrior and wear heavy armour. I see this as part of my character- she prefers to rely on her armour to shield her rather than ‘magic’ which is clearly what protects the more ‘skimpy clad’ characters running around. She’s not prudish, just would prefer to remain ‘appropriate’.

That being said im all for skimpy outfits on other characters. It creates a nice balance with the huge Charrs and Norn running around with a metric tonne of metal hanging from them. Anything that creates diversity is a good thing in my opinion.
