I thought this was a way to send skins to wardrobe and then use them at a later time free of transmutation charge. But all it actually does is using the skin without applying it, and after that, it actually requires a transmutation charge. So what’s the need of that? I’d keep it in my bank rather than wasting it.

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.

Yes: either you use a transmutation charge, or you continue to use up your bank space; doesn’t matter whether it is a skin or an actual item with stats.

Win-win for ANet!

On the other hand, once you use it, it will be available for any or all characters to use simultaneously, for one charge. That is pretty nice, I think. Though, I am still storing my never-used skins until I’ve decided who wears what. Did buy some straps for that purpose now, though. =)

For one charge each time you use it :P

The distinction between “skin” and “regular item with a specific look” used to be that a skin didn’t require a transmutation stone or crystal to be used.

It would have been fair to “refund” players 1 transmutation charge for each skin (not item) that is stored in the wardrobe to retain that difference.

Yes, I assumed (my bad) that most knew it was one charge per use. Just like before. Skins still don’t require a charge, if they haven’t been used before. Again, just like before.

And any unlimited skins still have no charge associated with them.

Skins don’t require transmutation charges you can still apply them “the old fashioned way”. The only difference is that now you can apply those skins on other characters too (with a charge)

Can you use them “the old fashioned way”? I had a Tormented Staff skin I was saving just to use after the wardrobe patch but I wasn’t able to use the skin. Every time I tried to double-click it, it would say “Function not available” in big red letters (or something like that.) I was forced to deposit it and then pay charges to use it. All the other skins I had were trash that I never planned to use anyway, so I just chucked ’em, but that one kinda miffed me.

I’ve applied several skins the old fashioned way. Sounds like you encountered a glitch.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

I, too, have used skins the old-fashioned way. In fact, you can still go get skins from HoM, and apply them, or use your Zenith skins the old way.

I used lots of skins the old-fashioned way without problems, like my brand new Viper skin armor.
