I play GW2 since headstart. I am long through the full personal story. There are parts in the story where I got skin armor or skin weapons. Some of them were unique I think. With the new wardrobe system I am not able to unlock these parts again. Only if I go through the complete story with new characters again.
Are there any plans how to handle this? It’s not fair that people who have GW2 since the headstart can’t unlock these skins because they are already through the complete story.
I’m thinking this is why the new character slots were on sale. I bought one just in case a new class or something gets introduced, but it’s just as good for doing story line again and getting missed skins.
Get friends or guild mates to help you through it quickly, then delete the character and do it again. Once a skin’s unlocked, you don’t lose it just because the character that unlocked it is gone.
When you have 8 chars all with world clear and story finished you can guess what I think of going through another new chars right?
And i guess there are a lot more with worse stats that have more things to do than remake chars over and over again to get unique rewards (assuming some are race/story part bond).
Those skins are just cultural weapons skins, nothing unique.

^ What Hannelore said. The only unique items are the personal story starter items like the necro wraith mask.
EDIT I was wrong. There are unique pieces of armor in personal story that could only be gained through personal story or spvp. Not certain about weapons.
One more reason to have an option to get those skins.
The option is to get those skins (barring Character Creation skins) from any of the myriad other places they are available. If you are only wanting the Character Creation skins, it only takes a few minutes to create the character, get out of the first quest and delete.
It is not important what exactly you get with the story, but I think people who are already through the story (before april patch) should have the right to unlock those skins that were available in the story.

You do have the right (again, barring Character Creation skins). Just pick them up elsewhere. (Outside of Personal Story.)

Agree. They were just cultural weapons. This request is in the same boat as “if I created a legendary, equipped it and then proceeded to delete it for w/e months ago, I should be able to unlock the skin today because I had it before”.
That is the extreme scenario request, but you get the picture. Skin unlocks aren’t retroactive. I would totally understand though if the skins were unique named items in the locker. They aren’t.
I have several avenger/light items from the human personal story that have been transmuted a couple of times. The transmuted portion below the stats still read “Seraph XXXXXXXX”.
The only two skins I can think of that unique to the personal story are the Studded Mask (level 14 story) and Studded Shoulders (level 22 story) for Adventurer professions, because they don’t drop anywhere else and you can’t craft them in PvP anymore.
There are some armor skins that you could only get through the PS. The chest piece in this picture is one of them. I actually started a Necro to go back through the PS just for it, but then the wardrobe came out and I already had it in my PvP locker.

I stand corrected on the “they aren’t” portion of my above statement then. I guess there are some pieces to certain armor sets that could only be gotten through personal story or pvp.
That piece that you show is a part of what is now called the Apostle set. Once was called Rubric. In pve you can get either 4/6 or 5/6 pieces of it through personal story. Don’t think you can get the helm through anything but pvp before.
These items are unique, so maybe some options should indeed be given so that players can get them that don’t require doing the story again per armor weight if indeed each weight has items like this.

Pretty sure all those PS uniques are incomplete. The medium Marauder set is missing the glove and boots.

Here’s what could happen -
Since the game “knows” which personal story chapters your light/medium/heavy armor class characters have completed, it would be easy to write a script that rewards these skins back to those characters. Maybe ANet will do that one day.
It’s more likely that the entire sets will be added to PvP reward tracks (as, hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, the Tribal/Masquerade set and the full Rubric set will).
Otherwise those of us who don’t have these skins anymore (I had no idea they were hard to obtain when I leveled my first character and salvaged the items and didn’t unlock all of them in PvP) will have to create three new characters and rush them through the personal story up to level 39 (light & heavy armor) or level 78 (medium armor) with four level 80 friends.
If you open your story journal (or whatever name its called) where it shows all the steps of the personal story you did with your character, you will also see which rewards you got from then. ANet should make it so the skins from those rewards also become unlocked on the wardrobe.
