Hello all!

I’m Skye. I make replica props and I’m super excited for the new content drop appearing on April 15th!

In fact, I’m so excited that I’ve decided to give away a Real-Life Steel and Leather Nine Pound Fellblade to the winner of this friendly Trading Post competition.

Here are the rules – Please Read Carefully:

  • Pick any one item to invest in (could be a type of rune, sigil, weapon, etc.)
  • On the TP purchase screen, select a quantity that will push the total price just over 5 gold total. You can dial in an exact number if you wish. Spend less than 7.5g.
  • Take a screenshot showing the total cost. Do Not Forget To Take This Screenshot!
  • You must buy from sell orders – you may not buy through a buy order. Example is below.
  • For that price, buy it – From this point on, you are not allowed to buy any more of this item until the contest is over.
  • Take all that you bought, and post the entire quantity on the trading post in a single “sell order”. Sell the entire quantity at one price. Choose your price wisely. Set it as high as you think you can sell out at by the deadline.
  • Take a screenshot of your “What I’m selling” tab. Do Not Forget To Take This Screenshot! Keep it in a safe place
  • Post your Total screenshot to this forum thread before 11:59pm EST on April 14th.
  • Wait for the Update on the 15th – the markets will react!
  • Before 11:59 EST April 18th, post a picture of your TP history, showing how many of your items sold for the price you set or take a picture of your favourite TP tracker, showing you sold out.
  • The highest positive percent Return on Investment wins!

Entry requirements:

  • The item you choose can be any one thing found on the trading post.
  • On your entering post list your:
  • Full item name
  • Quantity and total purchase price (with “Total” screenshot)
  • Listed selling price (hold onto your “What I’m Selling” screenshot)
  • If your purchase fails, stitch together screenshots and do your best to communicate your entry.
  • Return on Investment formula is:
[(Listed selling price)*(Qty sold) – (Total Purchase Price)] / (Total Purchase Price) x 100%
  • One entry per person – make it count!
  • Multiple entrants may pick the same item, but should have different purchase and sell prices.
  • For a winner to be declared, that winner must have a positive RoI
  • If you post an attempt to enter once and fail, you get one more chance to re-enter.
  • FAILURE to post your SCREENSHOT means NO ENTRY – You have been told!
  • These rules may change for clarification. If you have a question, ask!
  • If the case where the current first place winner is not clearly disqualified, but not clearly the winner, it will be the job of the next runner-up to decide if that winner should be disqualified.
  • This contest is for one fabricated Fellblade – Shipped to Canada or the US (If you live outside of Canada or the US, we’ll work out shipping)
  • If you know that you can’t receive or own a heavy steel Fellblade-shaped object, simply don’t enter
  • Please don’t cheat. Winning entries will be checked against market histories.
  • If you’re willing to spend thousands of gold at a chance at this Fellblade, drop me a line at info@heroicreplicas.com instead, and I will make one for you outright!
  • I reserve the right to disqualify entries for shadyness.

Checkout my Step-by-step process how I make these replicas:

Thanks to her clarified formula… it looks like a 98.85% profit!?

Interesting challenge and awesome sword

I wouldn’t have made it a requirement to place the sell order now. Because you already can see how high you would have to set it to even have a chance to win. It would have been better to let everybody decide when to sell.

Here is my Entry: “Superior Rune of the Undead” – I am hoping for some awesome stat changes with the feature pack.

It’s a risk thing – two people could buy the same thing and one sells it for a higher price, but only the lower one sells out.

Everyone can enter until the deadline on the 14th – the market history should match when you post within a few hours – but if you wait too long then you might not get the best price of the most certain items.

Yes, but that would be cheating.

If you’re willing to spend hundreds or thousands of gold, risking not beating other players or getting disqualified for cheating, why not just come to the source?

Hell, why not, lol.

Superior Sigil of Speed X100 – 4.9g
Listed @ 50s each for 50g before tax
Projected profit of 37.5g if sold, a 900% return using your math

Edit; I really must say, samuirai, I highly, highly doubt undead runes will pass 10 silver in price, they are a really bad investment. The recipe to create them uses 1 gossamer bolt+1 putrid essence, giving room for the gossamer to move from 3-6s here, and remembering that condition will not be the meta anytime soon, putrid essence has a 100k wall at 2.86s, that’s 100k possible undead runes crafted before pushing the price right up. Then again, if they really make them appealing, the initial demand on the rune itself may push them up past 10 silver a pop before anyone even thinks of crafting them ^^

^I just had to mention that =p

Hmm okay, I invested in “Ornate Watchwork Boxes.” I bought 6 for 5g 95s 94c, couldn’t buy 5 as that would have been under 5g and against the rules. I’m selling them at 2g 48s 36c each and I hope they get sold.

Sorry I copy pasted the screenshots together in paint, it would take too long to upload the originals.

I already bought 5g worth of 2 items but will wait until monday to decide which one to submit.

Considering that there will be some pre patch speculating going on, will entries be disqualified, if their item sells out before the 15th already?

I get the feeling that the highest profits will be found after the patch. I don’t think I’d disqualify someone if the price spiked after they bought but before the 15th.

Item Name: Superior Sigil of Frailty
Quantity: 100
Total Purchase Price: 23g 99s
Listed Selling Price: 79g 95s

I do not understand your return on investment formula, the total purchase price divides by itself, which will always come out as 1.

In my case (if all sold): (79.95 * 100) – (23.99 / 23.99 * 100%)
= 7995 – 100

Makes no sense to me. But I guess we’ll figure that out after the april 15th.

With the formula, it is:

[(Listed selling price)*(Qty sold) – (Total Purchase Price)]
/ (Total Purchase Price)

and it is not

(Listed selling price)*(Qty sold) –
(Total Purchase Price)/(Total Purchase Price)

Sorry to say, you missed this rule: “Spend less than 7.5g”

In conjunction with the other rule: “From this point on, you are not allowed to buy any more of this item until the contest is over” – I’d recommend you re-submit to enter the contest, preferably using a different item altogether to avoid technicalities.

And, new rules:

  • If you post an attempt to enter once and fail, you get one more chance to re-enter.
  • If the case where the current first place winner is not clearly disqualified, but not clearly the winner, it will be the job of the runner-up to decide if that winner should be disqualified. You have been told!

6500 Thick Leather Sections @ 8 copper – 10 copper each (there were a few for 8 and 9 copper, and the rest at 10 copper). Hard to calculate as I had to buy 26 stacks. But the range is 5.20-6.50 gold for all. Listed at 2 silver all. Margin of win is 19,900% – 24,900%. I think so, bad at math lol. Hope I did it ok, since each stack was 25 silver to put up…

Well this is the first thing I’ve ever entered like this, and it was because it’s both a super legit sword and a really tantalizing challenge. If that hardened leather guy sells through we’re all done, but personally I’ll try the recently fluctuating seaweed.

I bought 375 at 1.35-1.41 silver and spent right about 5.25g. I’m selling 375 seaweed for 13.10 silver for an intended return of 49.125g, hopefully meaning a 935.7% RoI.

Come onnnnnnnn secret release of 500 cooking

EDIT: So I can see the second image showing them relisted at 13.10 when I go to edit the post, but when I am on the thread page I only see the purchase image. Hoping this is just a lag in updating a post and not a mistake on my end – make no mistake, this is my entry!

Question:

I forgot to take my initial screenshot of the total, as I had to buy more than 250 of my item to get over 5g, and I hastily moved on to the next stack. I also ended up buying another stack of 250 (because these are items I decided I wanted to invest in anyway). The 500 total probably puts them slightly over 7.5g. Can I just post screenshots of my “items I’ve bought” page accompanied by a spreadsheet that adds up the first X items until the 5g total is reached? (Believe me, this is way more work than I wanted to do too…)

I added one specific rule for weird edge cases like this…

If the case where the current first place winner is not clearly disqualified, but not clearly the winner, it will be the job of the next runner-up to decide if that winner should be disqualified.

If you think that the second place person wouldn’t disqualify you, then go ahead.

Well here are my images and my spreadsheet. You can determine whether or not they’re valid.

For the first image, read the prices from bottom to top in each individual section to correspond to my spreadsheet. Also, zooming out a bit on your browser probably helps (usually ctrl+minus).

Item: Toy Sword Skin
Total Purchase Amount: 5g00s12c
Quantity: 371
Sell Price 2s29c
ROI 69.88%

Edit to ask how you directly link images on these boards, since the [img] html tags offered in the formatting options apparently do not do the trick.

Post Patch Edit: Looks like my items already sold (last night before the patch even hit). Screenshots are below.

Part of me wishes I was a little more daring with my price, but I was faced with a stone wall of 4,000+ toy sword skins already listed for 2.3 silver. I DO believe they will get bought up in time, but I wasn’t certain all 4k of those would get burned through in just these next 3 days.

As for the number I settled on, I was pleased with my prospective ROI of 69.88%. I looked over every single poster’s listings and categorized them as either “reasonable,” “far fetched,” or “crazy.” I ignored everything I considered to be far fetched or crazy, as I was unwilling to take similar risks. I mean, they very well may end up paying off – particularly those of runes or sigils, as nobody knew what the changes were going to be, making them complete wildcards – but I just wanted to play it safe.

I didn’t quite go with the one dollar Price is Right bid, but I did look at each of the 4 listings I deemed reasonable and wanted to come up with an ROI above those. Thus my benchmark to surpass was fictitiousacct’s 67.68% ROI.

Anyway, here are my 2 “items sold” pages that show my 371 toy sword skins selling:
