Everything has begun with Primordus, so everything will also end with him being beaten last.

There is a possibility that there is a sort of Queen dragon that layed the eggs of the elder dragons. I would think that should be the last dragon. Also I would hate to see how powerful that dragon is.

What do you think the moon is?

I’m all for the introduction of another Elder Dragon, but only if ArenaNet does it right. I want to trek through new, unexplored lands, hacking my way through Primordus’ minions to get to him…not “Primordus’ minions are attacking Kessex Hill”. So my plea is don’t add another Elder Dragon to the mix until you’re ready ready to properly expand the game.

The mysterious ‘E’ has warned us recently that a war is coming, plus the rumours of a massive attack on Lions Arch, Tyria will burn.

Anyone else hoping that Lions Arch gets completely destroyed? Not like mad king destroyed the fountain, or the KarKa destroyed the Lighthouse, i mean full on death and destruction across the entire map.

Maybe thats why they were selling the infinity royal terrace passes because Lions Arch will be unusable soon and we will all be forced back into our home cities.

Scarlet is a Champion of Primordus

He posted here yesterday too
it was moved to lore- but here is the link

Its a good theory but I really don’t think it’s any more liklely to be true than any other. As a whole lot of it is founded on speculation about asuran technology yet to be confirmed in the game.

I personally would not mind that metronome (hint, hint).

It could be any of the theories, will be fun to see over the next 4 releases what turns up.
The clock way back before the queens jubilee was a direct reference to clockwork creatures. Wonder what the metronome directly references.

Yeah, thats been my way of thinking ever since at least Queens Jubilee. Their promises mean little to me know.

Anyways, as someone pointed out in the thread I created in the Living World subforum, we’ve been kinda neglecting the metronome. Why was it included/inscribed upon?

Curious that it was sent as a metronome. An object to keep time, but with music and beats and not the actual telling of time like a clock. Remember before the Clockwork invasion Scarlet (ANET) sent out those pocket watches to a few people with a very similar inscription/poem.

Well the poems have only been used twice now to my knowledge, both made by Scarlet, so its not like they are over using it.

Personally i really like it, and the fact that they went out of there way to inscribe the metronome and previously a pocket-watch and then send them out to gaming websites just to advertise upcoming content is brilliant advertising.

Its incredibly unique and clever, gets everyone taking and no other mmo is doing it (to my knowledge).

Arenanet has a penchant for re-skinning content. I would be surprised, pleasantly, if they created new models for this next update. That being said they likely won’t. The only ones that I can think of that fit what may or may not be key words, along with the object that was sent out, would be worms. Worms populate a lot of Tyria, but mostly in the caves. While they can poison, they shoot fire a lot. I’m really hoping it’s not worms, because that would make the Dune references just too much.

come on, that would really spice things up.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1un4tt/scarlet_as_a_champion_of_primordus/

Just wondering, how could Scarlet be a champion of Primordus? I mean there’s no visible corruption on her coming from that dragon (like the Icebrood and Risen), can Dragons “corrupt” others without turning them?

Because I think it was known that Primordus corruptes by encasing people in lava… I think this rules out the idea of her being a champion of him… Now Mordremoth might be a choice given that we know nothing about it (but still as we know nothing this too is ruled out for the moment).

(And well we know that by some miracle Sylvaries are immune to the current dragon’s corruption).

I actually would say the exact opposite, though I don’t believe it’ll be part of this year’s story. I saw EQNext’s double jump animations the other night and started babbling to my boyfriend that if GW2 got their underwater combat polished and dropped some really cool underwater areas, the water combat could translate relatively easily (I imagine) to air combat. So, this has been on my mind a lot lately.

If they slowly polished underwater combat over time before the water dragon appears, something they are probably considering doing anyways since the lack of desire for the current underwater weapons is a big weak spot, they could do so much cool stuff with it. Bio-luminescent flora and fauna, or areas so dark you practically run face-first into mobs. There’s a lot of freedom there and with GW2’s awesome design team, I think some underwater areas could be truly stunning.

I think it’s great if they choose to focus on fixing up a weaker point of the game to support the story they want to tell.

“Ancient jotun stelae indicate that throughout prehistory, the Elder Dragons have gone through cycles of awakening, destruction, and hibernation, each time ending an era of life in Tyria and bringing forth a new one.”

“What knowledge we have of the Elder Dragons comes from the survivors of the previous cycle of awakening, over 11,000 years ago. "

So technically dragons are like the Reapers from Mass Effect series. Each cycle they awake, they destroy Tyria until a new race arrives. That being said how exactly did we kill off Zhaitan so easily? Wouldn’t he just regenerate and rise up again? It would make no sense to kill of dragons so easily now… are they stepping on their own lore now?

Yeah, either destroyers, which seems most likely, or… whatever happened to the Titans?

They were mostly wiped out in Tyria in the post-Prophecies Titan quests. Then ‘finished off’ in the Realm of Torment in the Mallyx the unyielding quests in Nightfall.

Though some may have survived as we saw at least one in an EoTN quest(also killed).

the speculations on this are going to be good. the first poem had a pocket watch and now a metronome. The common denominator is they both keep time and I lost where i was going with this lol. But bump anyways cause im intrigued to see what others come up with.

Scarlet’s an engineer. When picking novelty items to promote their patches they pick clockwork/steam punk themed items because Scarlet is an engineer. Remember how this ended last time? People got excited about the watch that was sent out and we ended up with Scarlet and months of Scarlet hate.

I’d like this to be about an Elder Dragon, whatever Scarlet does begins the next dragon’s attack on Tyria (Primordious fits well because he doesn’t need new open world maps, he is under Tyria) but I seriously doubt the last year was an elaborate way to wake a dragon. Doesn’t that seem kind of pointless? A whole year of her nonsense and the end result isn’t even about her?

Scarlet’s plan is separate from an elder dragon, why did she experiment with the Toxic Alliance if she just wanted to thump a dragon to the surface? I seriously doubt the next four weeks will be about an Elder Dragon.

I really don’t understand this at all. The idea that somehow dangerous foes have to be big.

Last time I checked, the creatures that have caused the most deaths on the planet earth were fleas and mosquitos…and not the giant kind either.

When I see a giant boss, in games were all bosses are giant, I think, here we go again. The only way to make a boss more powerful is to make him bigger.

Superman and spiderman are pretty powerful and they’re human sized. Why does a boss have to be big to be dangerous?

Edit: Even in Guild Wars 1, in the Ring of Fire mission (the last mission in Prophecies), the tiny sparks were far more dangerous than the giant titans. They were far more likely to kill you.

In MMOs, tougher monsters tend to require larger groups of players to defeat. Larger groups of players can make it tough to see what’s going on unless the monster is of a larger size. It can be tough to time interrupts and dodges against PC-sized or smaller monsters if you can’t see the attack cues through the throng of characters surrounding it. Ergo many, not all, tough MMO monsters are large.

False; there are plenty of tough monsters found in the open world. I could list many, but I won’t bother. The fact is MMO developers have been making difficult monsters bigger than their counterparts for more than a decade. That you think size and difficulty shouldn’t be tied together doesn’t matter, because they are. And they have been. And they will continue to be so.

Just a quick analysis on the poem:

Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
(This line is clearly referring to the devices that have been dotted around tyria, with this in mind i believe some encounter will involve the quake mechanic that is currently getting overused by anet caused by these devices).

Wipe all resistance from your mind
(This one is a little more tricky

There’s a secret deep below to find
(This is either a reference to a sleeping dragon or the wey lines that scarlet has found, more than likely i believe its a dormant creature due to the quake devices being speculated as alarm clocks so to speak).

If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
(something that would make yo like scarlet eh? then it must be pretty bad, something horrible, genocide maybe?)

This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
Sometimes to change you must destroy
(“This next part” implies that she is now speaking of something seperate that she will be responsible for)

A fire is rising you cannot contain
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
(While saying a civilisation will burn normally means it will be razed it seems that a fire is rising, this secret below is the fire it seems, but is primordus a secret? maybe something else, personally i want it to be underworld, but in conclusion something catastrophic that is inevitable, while this happens scarlet takes advantage by bending will of others during this event to change something for what she believes is better. could be interesting however the only bit we can stop from this is and will be the bit that scarlet will be taking advantage of. sorry

Seems like Scarlet’s taking some dragon power into herself? Destroying what she was to become a dragon puppet..? If she’s bat kitten crazy does that mean I can destroy her with my batty greatsword?

I’M SO EXCITED.

Sylvari are not able to be corrupted by the Elder Dragon’s. Or so they claim. As such I highly doubt that Scarlet Briar is going to become a puppet of any of the Elder Dragons.

“Secret’s deep below to find.” could mean that in addition to the surface of Tyria, the soon to be released updates are going to give us access to the Tyrian Underworld as well. Along with any secrets hidden down there, and new enemies, most of whom will be destroyers obviously.

“If only you’d seen what I’ve seen… you’d wake up screaming from The Dream.” obvious reference to Scarlet who has experienced I believe not one, but TWO instances of the Dream, the second one of which was far from pleasant for her all things told.

“Sometimes to change, you must destroy.” Well, yeah. Any good biologist or heck any scientist for that matter would tell you that. It’s a fact of life. Don’t see how it is relevant though.

“A Fire is Rising you cannot contain.” Primordus. Obviously Primordus.

“Tyria will burn, while I remain.” If this message is indeed from Scarlet Briar… unless she has found some method to make plant matter immune to immolation. I don’t see how this stanza works.

Also, I would like to point out…. that a metronome like that could have been commissioned by just about anyone. Just because those journalists claim that they got it from ArenaNet and NC Soft, doesn’t make it true, unless NC Soft and Arena Net confirms the fact.

There’s a TARDIS under Tyria.

God… and here I thought I was the only one who saw the resemblances between Scarlet and Mr. Saxon. I like you good sir, I like you a lot.

Though if the big reveal at the end of the Living Story Arch is that Scarlet is in actuality a Time Traveler… I will just quit the game right there. Because that much of a rip off of Doctor Who is in no way funny.

They don’t destroy Tyria. They eat up the excessive magic and then go back to sleep. There are after all races that have survived earlier ED cycles (but then again they were hidden by Glint).

We didn’t kill of Zhaitan easily. It took a massive cooperation between all the major and several minor races of Tyria including a full-scale invasion, starving and blinding it by killing off its food and spies. Using completely new and unique technology and so on.

So just because the actual fight against the mob Zhaitan is easy, doesn’t mean it didn’t take massive amount of actual work to get it done. It was very weakened when we faced it after all.

There is nothing that implies that Elder Dragons are immortal or somehow reforms if they are destroyed.

Tbh it’s either Primordius (the most likely) or the mysterious red briar she saw during her vision of the Eternal Alchemy (less likely but still intriguiging). Either way this will be interesting…..i hope
