So I finally got my first ascended weapon drop and it’s Celestial. Only problem is, that out of all 8 of my lvl 80 characters, not a single one of them uses celestial weapons. Is there anything I can do with this item, or is it doomed to rot in my bank forever? The ascended weapon I’ve been wanting is zerker, which I’ve been grinding out for some time now.

Is it account bound?

Yup. Literally none of my toons have a need for it… I had the idea to replace my zerker exotic GS on my warrior with it…but it’s a power loss of 100… That’s too much power to lose.

I have a feeling that once the armor is out they will become at least salvageable. I’ve never had a lucky drop like that do I so I am not sure, but can they be at least sold to vendors like rings?

Celestial staff is ok for WvW ele and support guardian.

Pretty much any other stat combo could have worked for one of my guys, and I had to get celestial……

My first lucky break on a drop since an abyss dye like 6 months ago, and it’s a drop that’s going to gather dust in my bank. GG anet

Another thing you might consider is using it as an Aquatic weapon. Let’s face it, Aquatic weapons usually aren’t very good to begin with, so any Ascended replacement would probably be better than what you have.

Well, not really. That 100 power is really a tiny bit of damage increase, and the added stats in other areas give you a bit more survivability to counter it. But personally I prefer that, being more WvW than anything, so preference does count.

Well, not really. That 100 power is really a tiny bit of damage increase, and the added stats in other areas give you a bit more survivability to counter it. But personally I prefer that, being more WvW than anything, so preference does count.

Not to mention ascended weapons have 50 higher damage than exotics by default (or so). So if he was using an exotic, then upgrading would only cost him 50 power (basically) and then he’d get a lot of additional stats to compensate, making it pretty well become worth it IMO (depending on build of course).

Celestial is actually a pretty good stat combination for an Ascended drop, because it’s always at least acceptable. I can’t be bothered to do the math accurately right now, but IIRC Ascended weapons have roughly 5% more weapon damage than Exotics, so unless that 100 is more than 5% of your total Power, you’ll be even. If you’re full zerk, you’ll have more than 2000 Power, resulting in a gain in DPS, even though some Power is lost.

They told me I was an ungrateful, self-entitled, whiner… But yet, here we are.

I keep my Occam’s Weapon Chest in the bank.

That is actually a very good suggestion.

Crafting ascended weapons is so expensive – I’m still working my way up to 500 in all three disciplines – that I am unlikely to ever spend that amount of gold on an aquatic weapon (at least until, you know, the DSD expansion…) so that drop would be pretty great for a freebie!

I’m with you, Bright. Drops as a secondary means to acquire an Asc weapon are not a realistic option. They only give lip service to the “multiple means to acquire” promise.

When i found an ascended weapon chest it was shamans stats (Vitality, healing, condition damage) which I consider the worst stat combo in the game. It is still rotting in my bank so far. It will likely become an underwater weapon for my next char, as i am almost never underwater and when i do, the blue trident skin (shamans is blue) will at least look really good.

Hell, I’d take Shaman’s stats (to my understanding that’s the problem you can’t get the chest to other people who’d want it.), but I am banking a little on the meta changing , as they specified they were working on Guardian condition damage builds, amongst other things. (Granted I’m also not really concerned about minmaxing. I don’t do Fractals and I only play casual pug dungeons for fun.)

I think you can sell the chest to a merchant for 1g?

Some of the Ascended weapons with useless stats have some really beautiful skins. The ones with the +Heal is celestial white with gold trimmings and looks absolutely gorgeous. I would just craft Zojja’s and then transmute the prettier skins over it.

Pretty much this. I got an Ascended weapon thing to drop last week and it was Celestial also. I have no use for the stats, but the skins are nice. My only crafted ascended weapon to date is a Cleric staff (Theodosus) because the gold/white matches my main’s armor :P He has 0 healing power in his other armor/trinkets/weapons lol.

Some professions like ele’s use celestial in wvw.
