I only read a bit about it, how some people have it, and it not being in gem store. What’s up with this? I got the other two pieces and want to get the third. :/

Word of note to people considering this axe, it is by far the most lacklustre of the trio. The model itself is very nice however the animation is incredibly underwhelming. I suggest anyone debating whether to buy it or not go find a video of it being used somewhere and check it first, even if you are a person like me who doesn’t like to spoil the surprise. It is much worse than even the Sickle.

I rather like the animation. More so than any of the others, which is why I bought the axe, but passed on the other two. Just a matter of preference, I suppose. =)

More static electricity than lighting to be honest. Piddly little spark, not impressed myself but to each their own.

I’m not getting these just for the look, that is a plus, but i like the fact I don’t have to keep running to a vendor to get more picks, sickles or, logging axes. Although I would have gone the chainsaw route, made the axe mini chainsaw and have wood chips fly and litter the ground for the animation, but hey whatever. thanks A-net.

I was being disparaging but mine doesn’t look anywhere near as (relatively) impressive as that one, perhaps my contrast isn’t at the same setting. It is a faint little purplish spark that doesn’t even extend the length of the tree and is barely visible on an Ancient Sapling. I am a Norn male if that has any bearing.

The sound effect is rubbish as well.

What drew me to the harvesting sickle, besides the awesome animation, was the shorter harvesting duration. I absolutely love how I can harvest quicker with it – it’s very satisfying.

I have my 800 gems ready, but I’m unsure if I should get the axe because of that. :/

Yeah, the quicker gathering of the sickle is really what made it great value for money. I wish the logging axe did the same, and said so in the other feedback thread.

But I am getting one regardless.

I really could care less about the animations. They are a nice additional, along with the nifty skins but what I’m really after is that unlimited use. I hate having to buy harvesting tools all the time (and sometimes it seems like I’m stopping every hour to buy new ones) Or carrying 3-4 different sets, so I don’t “waste” the more expensive ones on low level harvests, just grrr. Simplicity is lovely….

Unlimited uses. Never running out of tools in mid-gather again. I’d buy it if it had no animation at all.

Also for the record I doubt many people will care if the animation is terrible to start with because it’s the fact it’s unlimited that people will really buy it aside from the fact it looks cool. ANY animation looks better than the original animation. the molten firepic is still on the original animation, and people were kitten ing themselves like excited dogs over it! XD Besides, if the animation SUCKS, it will be fixed. Like the Unlimited harvesting sickle. That animation got fixed TWICE. And now it looks epic. Who says the same thing won’t happen to the Axe?

It needs work the effect and sounds are mediocre at best. Hope they work on it like they did the last one.

I actually like the animation of the axe. It’s subtle and yet clearly visible. I also didn’t like the animation of the sickle as I thought it was a bit over the top, but I still bought all 3. I’ve bought them for convenience, not for their animations.

The unlimited part is the most important thing. I went through what seemed like 5 stacks of axes yesterday. Constantly having to remember ‘must buy more axes!’ was annoying.

I wish I could turn off the animation on the pick. The animation obscure the fact that a node has been used up when you are mining a rich node or getting extra hits. That basically means the pick takes longer to harvest for those types of situations.

^^^ minimap for that. As soon as the node disappears, I’m off.

You are joking, right?

Lightning blasts the tree with each strike, and on the third there is even a little flame. That is more lackluster than a golf swing followed by a popping sound and a fountain of water?

Good job on this one guys. Got it right in one. (I guess the Sickle kinda made you think harder on this one, eh?)

Yes, Varkronn, a true lightning blast would probably knock your character on his butt – which would actually be kinda fun I think! But overall I think it’s as good as the Pick. Only minor criticism is the timing of the chop and when the lightning hits. But I suppose it’s possible that the different races swing at different speeds, which perhaps made it more difficult to program. (The Asura take an extra 4th whack with the picks, I know. But they tend to be greedy.)

EDIT: I would still prefer to chop down the mightiest tree in the forest with a HERRING!

I was giving my opinion and just suggesting people who ARE interested in these items’ additional animations go check this one before purchasing. I wasn’t saying that is the only reason to buy one and I took it as a given that the main advantage is that they are unlimited. Did I need to be explicit? If you don’t care about the effects then why are you responding to my comment specifically concerning the effects, it clearly wasn’t aimed at you.

I think this one is pitiful so no, I was not joking. I’m glad you are happy with it, that you don’t share my opinion and that my message wasn’t useful to you. I wasn’t posting it to argue with those who feel differently, just voicing my own displeasure with it and giving a heads up to people who may feel the same.

…still waiting for the Molten Pick to make a return, if only temporary. I have some more gems burning a hole in my pocket.
