I played Wildstar and to say it brings nothing to the table is an ignorant, short-sighted statement. To keep things short and simple I’m just going to make a list. Here are features that Wildstar has over Guild Wars 2
You forgot:
A variety of different types of group content – 4 different types IIRC.
A variety of PvP content from casual battleground right up to GvG in warplots.
I started playing GW2 recently. Originally, it was just to kill some time until WS released, but I’m finding I like this game much more than I thought I would.
Both games have their things that I like and things I don’t. I detest WS’s questing system and much prefer GW2’s living world/story (though pretty sad there’s like a years worth of content I’ll -neeever- see…)
I prefer WS’s defined roles in combat opposed to (from what I hear so far anyway) GW2’s DPS only style.
What I’ve heard of GW2’s dungeons has me bit worried, (Is it really stack mobs and kill only?) whereas the dungeons I’ve done is WS have been really fun IMO.
I appreciate both game’s graphic styles, but GW2’s draws me in a looooot more.
I am a big fan of WS’s housing system. I’d love to see something like that added to GW2.
I’m mostly a PvE player, and WS seems to have a bigger focus on that.
These are all just my general thoughts so far comparing the two. GW2 has made me really rethink what I’ll be playing come summer. At this point, I’m honestly not sure.
Face it. The GW2 model doesn’t work. It results in shallow, zergy combat with very little build diversity. Trains in both PvE and WvW with cosplay in the LA chat room.
Wildstar and GW2 are fundamentally different in the audiences they are targeted to.
GW2: People who want to spend $100 a month to stand in a zerg and press 1 then buy all the rewards/armors in the gem store, with no challenge.
Wildstar: Spend $15 to access challenging content that rewards skill, time and ability with no cash shop.

The dungeons are by and large stack in a corner and draw mob in so you can res, and ignore the mechanics completely. While you don’t have to do the fight this way, it certainly is the norm on the vast majority.
Of MMO games I have played, this has the lowest difficulty curve for dungeons in general, largely because of the lack of a healer. How hard can the content be when it has to be balanced for a group of any makeup?
I wouldn’t stay with this game for PvE, it would lose my interest in a hurry, though some people enjoy the concept of speed running dungeons quickly, the two open world raid bosses that require some-lots of coordination (though you take with you anyone else who happens to tag along in the zone for better or worse), and high end Fractals have some interesting mechanics and a gate system for gearing.
Of course the return for all your hard work in the higher end/more difficult things is going to be completely RNG. The cool skins, and really sought after gear are all a random drop chance.
If by superior, you mean a grindy game with shallow combat and content that is so unrewarding that it’s simply easier to play the TP, then you’re right.
Now, before you yell at me, I’m saying ‘you’ are saying this, but it seems like when I see wording like this ‘in general’, it’s usually talking about.
‘shallow combat’: We want the Trinity back (and gear inspecting would be nice too) so we can get back to creating our little in game niche societies where we only let worthy people play with us, and only if we tell you how to play when playing with us (you are the healer; you are the tank) and we will tell you when it’s your fault that nothing worked properly (you didn’t tank right; you didn’t heal right).
Cause people never ask others to ping their gear nor do people ever deny certain classes from joining the dungeon group in GW2 /end sarcasm.
‘content that is unrewarding’: …and once you get the Trinity back so we can start divvying up the appropriate star for each starbelly sneetch in the game, now please make all ‘good’ content (don’t worry, we’ll send you a list of what ‘good’ is) instanced for 5 person groups, with only the best rewards available in the hardest versions of those instances, and never available through other avenues (DEs, world events, living story, champion bags, personal story, gathering, etc), and ‘that’ will be rewarding content!
No, instead we have the current BiS gear only attainable doing what I would consider a tertiary component of the game (crafting) and no alternative way instead of being obtainable through what I would consider a primary component of the game (raids). With first prize art work (skins) locked behind heavy rng with such a low drop rate that you’ll only likely ever see “1%” with it while all the runner up art work is presented to the masses through reasonable means.
Never understood why folks would want an MMO that functions like the world in that way, where ‘winning’ is measured not so much by what one has achieved, but by what one has that others don’t, or can’t, have. A virtual world has benefit of being able to make the pie bigger.
Sorry to say but that is what EVERY MMO is. GW1 and 2 are no exceptions. Look at ascended and more importantly, legendary items. I’ve read it on here a couple times. Not just these but skins too. There is a more recent post….
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-had-40-gold-and-I-felt-poor/first
It’s the same thing over and over and over. Anyone so much as hint about the idea of making certain things cheaper and easier to obtain and they get ganged upon by player after player. Why do you suppose that is? After all, what many are suggesting is to make it more easily attainable. Does someone else having it hinder your ability to play the game in any way? You don’t bring it into SPvP so no issue. If more people on your server had them (specifically ascended and legendary) than your server will be stronger as a team in WvW. In PvE, having players with better gear will actually be beneficial to you if you ever group with them for dungeons/fractals. Other people having certain skins has no impact on you what-so-ever.
So why? Simple. They either have it, or they are going to get/have it and they want to make sure that it is difficult enough so that most others will either be unable or unwilling to get it. So they can have what only a small % has because their RL is so sad and pathetic that they need that feeling of superiority in the game to make up for what they can’t do in RL.

Do people actually not realize you can get ascended gear from drops?

GW2 is a superior game to almost every MMO in the western industry atm and Wildstar/ESO are both average ones. People would like WS/ESO for a fresh experience however neither bring anything major to the industry.
I have to agree with this. As an overall package, GW2 is one of the best MMOs available right now. I have ESO pre-ordered and will very much enjoy it, but I’m not under any illusion that either it or Wildstar will be superior to GW2.
There are 2 reasons I’m not getting the game;
Reason 1: I just can’t get into it. I just don’t feel motivated whatsoever to do something in the game.
Reason 2: Combat felt the same as when I play Guild Wars 2. And I already own Guild Wars 2 and it doesn’t have a subscription fee like WildStar.
I really wish the combat in TESO was like Guild Wars 2 and WildStar. If it was I would have bought TESO cuz the only issue I have with that game is the combat.
Oh well I bought Diablo 3 today and I’m enjoying the game a lot and I will be buying the expansion one day.
In my 3 or so weeks of playing the winter beta, I enjoy Wildstar much more. It’s kinda sad how many features GW2 is lacking even though it’s been out for over 1.5 years
Customizable UI
Customizable skillbar (as opposed to the hand-holding method GW2 uses)
Customizable telegraph/skill effects (because being able to see in combat is pretty cool)
Endgame (No, I mean actual endgame, not doing the same crap you did while leveling)
GvG (the defining PvP mode from the original GW is inexcusably absent in GW2)
Housing (don’t really care about this, but it’s there)
Roles (Even though I’m not a fan of tanking (more specifically taunt skills) roles actually exist… no stacking and DPS BS)
All of this and more, and it’s not even released yet.
The only things that bugged me;
No choice in different weapons. Yes, you can change your skills so it doesn’t matter that much, but aesthetically it would’ve been nice to see more weapon skins.
No auto-attack. Spamming the 1 key is pretty annoying.
Unfortunately, I’ll have to pass on Wildstar (and other MMO’s) for the foreseeable future, as I have a 6 month old baby and don’t have as much time as I’d like to dedicate to an MMO.

So, I tried Wildstar this weekend and I felt like mehh… I went back to playing GW2 instead and played PVP and forgot about why I stopped playing Solo ranked and hit the Join button to queue. I also loved WvW raids more.
*GW2 has crispier graphics.
*Quests are better in GW2 imho
*Better PVP style for ranked and open world. Battle is three way and not between 2 factions.
*The telegraphs are ok but I liked how GW2 requires you to keep track of the opponent and see his status/buffs or the animation when to cast a skill or anticipate things given the circumstances. It makes dodging easy tho.
*Weapons are more flashy in GW2.
*Combo fields for sustain and damage seems like a funkier way to play open world combat.
*WS just simply looked like WoW with space/galactic theme.
*Finishers are awesome.I felt like I am not ready to shell out or farm for 15$ to pay for the monthly sub.
Any opinions?
Felt the exact opposite of this. I am pumped and pre-ordered the collectors edition. It has just about everything I love about GW2, but does it just a tad better. Housing, mounts, dueling, open world combat and PvP servers! I can’t wait till the next beta and release.
As a person who is very vocal about ArenaNets short comings and questionable decision making, I’m going to have to agree with the OP.
After playing Wildstar and the novelty of the combat system wore off I was completely unmoved by the questing system. Say what you want about GW2, in general, players are aware of the world they are in. They may not care about it but even during a race to “end game” (or lack thereof) they recognize some in game characters, and they know the story. It is much more than “kill x in y minutes”. Wildstar is littered with that junk.
Guild Wars 2 can definitely take away some points from the combat pace and flow from Wildstar but my lord, the questing is just as cluttered as GW2 particle system. The raiding in Wildstar is ON POINT. Great challenges, great mechanics, great pacing and flow. Nothing too cheap, but difficult enough to challenge large guilds/groups.
What I did like about Wildstar was the Advenutres. They are instanced but they don’t have a dungeon feel to them. Very free roaming which was cool, I would like to see stuff like that for Guild Wars 2. It runs horribly so the whole “the graphics are like that so it can play on low end machines” is total kitten. I don’t understand why optimization is such a non issue with these developers. You can say what you want about consoles but at least they have constant performance quality of which they are devs are accountable for.
Graphically I at first thought Wildstar wouldn’t bother me but the art direction is really obnoxious to look at for long periods of time. I think it’s the lack of line art that bothers me. There needs to be outlines.
In closing, Wildstar won’t be the game that I turn my attention to because of the continued silliness from GW2 devs. There IS another game that I most likely will be playing, but that’s for another discussion another day. I’m fresh off a banning so I will refrain for now.

Is this sarcasm?
No, these are facts
Are people still confusing facts/opinions? God, no wonder this game is falling apart if the playerbase is so undereducated…

Have you run level 40+ FotM recently? Just looking in my guild, I’d say its a 20% droprate for an ascended chest.

Nice anecdote.
Reading the responses here made me LOL. Almost makes me think some accounts are Anet employees…..
I understand if some people don’t like WS because they are just not a fan of the art design. GW2, has THE nicest art designs around, its what made me stick around for so long (until a couple of months ago). It’s a beautiful mix of cartoonish and realistic designs. Though if you ask me, it has more cartoonish design than realistic….so I find it hard to believe that you don’t like WS because of its cartoonish visuals. To each their own I guess.
I have played every single class in WS. Admittedly, not all to the degree i wanted to, but enough to make a solid first impression (my highest leveled toon being a lvl 14 or 15). Unlike some of you here who never even got past the TUTORIAL areas.
Here are the things WS has over GW2:
1) Trinity – GW2 drew me in because of the lack of trinity. Ends up…you need trinity to make combat more complicated and challenging.
2) Sub Fee – If anyone still is arguing for no sub fees, then you either not played the same game I did or you have so much money that you can buy all you want because you dont want to put effort into a game or that you are so poor that you cannot afford $15 a month. Sub fee is necessary for any serious mmo.
3) Action combat system is a wash. WS has en edge because of trinity. The skills are just implemented better. The underlying combat system itself though is similar enough. Though with the telegraphs, it makes combat a lot more fast paced which I preferred.
4) A lot more quests. DE’s and heart quests in GW2 are just standard quests with a different dress. Nothing to brag about. In fact, DE’s even get repetitive because its the same thing over and over. I rather have more quests than do the same quests over and over again.
5) A lot better PvP. GW2 PvP is the biggest joke of this gen. This includes their sPvP and WvW….sorry…i mean ZvZ.
6) No Living Story crap that then gets taken away.
7) Two opposing faction system with open world PvP.
8) Will not revolve around the cash shop.
9) Will have a real end game. Sorry but GW2’s entire game is not endgame like Anet wants you to believe.
10) Mentoring system. This system works better than GW2’s auto down level system. The auto down level system doesn’t even work correctly. I destroy stuff if i go to a lower level area (so what the point of having it?). Where as when I mentored a lvl 8 on my lvl 14 character, it felt as if i really was a lvl 8.
11) Difficulty. GW2 difficulty is a joke. The only reason a group wipes in GW2 is because the group is full of noobs wearing tanking and/or healing gear. Higher end fractals being the only exception.
12) This has to do with point 2. Since there is a sub fee in WS, then everything can be earned. No need to keep everything behind imaginary once a day timers, no need to have ridiculously low drop rates, etc etc etc. You get the point…i hope.
Now I’m not saying WS is perfect. Far from it actually. It still needs a lot of polishing.
1)The UI in the current build is horrible. (new build with updated UI incoming)
2) Grouping to do quests is horrible with the way the UI group features are implemented. (new build with updated UI incoming)
3) From what I have gathered. Their warplots PvP mode is still a in progress work and is broken atm.
4) Some trouble with keybinds to mouse.
5) Server stability still not there.
6) Game still needs optimizing.
7) The game doesn’t come to life until around lvl 13.
But still, so far from what I have played. It’s going to be a much better game than GW2. I have faith that their problems will be ironed out before or shortly after launch. Why do i have so much faith? Its simple, Sub Fee. Players pay and devs work. In GW2, it’s “How do we keep our players using our cash shop?”
tldr version. WS much better than GW2.
We’ve heard this story SO many times now, I dont even remember all the games that would put GW1 and 2 out to pasture, most of them are barely alive or gone altogether.
8, no nearly 9 years ago we were told of all the marvels that would put GW1 out of business, its still running now we’re in the second year of GW2 and its the same story again, there’s the WoW addicts who keep harping on how much better it is yada yada, there’s the trailblazers who decry that GW 2 is nothing, bad, full of xyz etc etc who are leaving because game X is coming out and man, thats going to be IT! And then a year later the game in question is barely hanging on.
Look, this game wasnt made to entertain you 24/7 all year round, go have fun with a new game and when you’re done then you can Always come back (or not), its not like it matters, you paid for the game and whether you play 10 or 1000 hours makes no difference.

The only thing that will kill GW1 is time or NCSoft. They have a very small hardcore niche of players that will never leave the game. The number of subs for that game is so small, no one really cares.
Also, I dont know which triple A mmos have come out since GW2 has come out. GW2 was suppose to be the answer to the old guard.
With the release of WS and ESO, I really don’t think GW2 will be able to get out unscathed. WS will take a lot of the hardcore dungeon/raiding and PvP players and ESO will take a lot of the hardcore WvW ones. In fact, ESO version of WvW looks so good, if i could split myself in two, I would play ESO just for that.
I’ll just echo what others have already said. GW2 by far is the best aesthetically designed game thus far. Once you get a taste of it, playing games like Wildstar feels weird, even if the gameplay is better. All GW2 needs to do is brush up on it’s dungeon and cough raid contents, so that we can actually have end game PvE!
From my experience, people tend to stick with/go back to an MMO they already invested a lot of hours into.
I’ve had WoW players and SWTOR players try Guild Wars 2 out, and always almost a few weeks later, go back to there respective games.
It’s seems to be all about the invested time that really matters in the end.

All those things you list is precisely why I think GW2 is a better game.
It all comes down to preference and this is also why WildStar appeals to a completely different audience.
It is not a bad game at all- it is just not for me
GW2 is the game for me
Just a reminder to everyone, WildStar is an Nsoft game (same as GW2), also many of the devs are from Vanilla WOW. Which is why you got the “WOW Look” with the “GW2 Combat Style.” Just bringing that up incase it was confusing anyone or people thought they were simply ripping the two off. GW2 is still a special place in my heart always as will GW. I may wonder off to other new shiny MMOs from time to time but I will always come back to GW2 as they release new things like Guild Battle or 4v4,3v3,2v2 no capture points and more. PVP has always been epic in GW2 and GW. Builds are always so fun to make and tinker with, and I know all my fellow Warr sad about Zerker changes but we all knew it was unbalanced as heck haha. But yeah back to main Topic, WildStar is not adding anything THAT knew but bringing back things people missed from vanilla WOW such as 40 man raids and an actual arena system that MMOs have been ignoring for some odd reason and that everyone in the WOW community (pvp) will not leave until other MMOs follow, and that is of course straight up PVP fights no gimics or control points. THey are nice dont get rid of them but need normal pvp.
I think some of us have played GW2 for so long, we’ve forgotten all of the gripes we’ve had with those older MMO’s we’ve left behind.
This is something I’m often reminded of, and I’ve been noticing others say, when they play other MMOs.
I think that, with the big upcoming changes patch, GW2 will be one of the two best MMOs on the market. That doesn’t mean that other games won’t have good things to offer, though, and competition will keep ANet on its toes.
12) This has to do with point 2. Since there is a sub fee in WS, then everything can be earned. No need to keep everything behind imaginary once a day timers, no need to have ridiculously low drop rates, etc etc etc. You get the point…i hope.
Everything else aside, plenty of sub games gate content; even WoW does. So hope it doesn’t creep in anyway.
The best MMO is always the next one.
This thread would be deemed “off-topic” if it claimed that Wildstar was better than GW2.
This thread is downright stupid. All the “facts” here are subjective nonsense about what people don’t like or do like.
If you like Wildstar that much, go enjoy it and get off the forums here.
I’d say stacking is more of an exploit Anet hasn’t fixed than an actual tactic. Take the spider boss in AC for example. Stacking on it for done reason stops it from using its AoE poison attack. If you did that fight without stacking, it’s actually a very challenging boss fight. Same with Kholer, I remember co-ordinarily stability and CC-ing the adds to be able to get through the fight when the gane first came out.
I wouldn’t say dungeons have a low difficulty curve. It’s a different difficulty curve. Even in games like FF14 ARR, which has some of the most ridiculous and unforgiving mechanics I’ve see in a raid, they are very scripted so after you mastered the script, it’s not that hard.
GW2 is more like say, Monster Hunter or Vindictus. The mechanics aren’t made to very very difficult to grasp, but even after you’ve learnt them inside out, things like Lupi and Molten still remains just as challenging because they aren’t very scripted.
RNG is really a problem in all MMOs. I’ve done the New York raid enough times in TSW to tank it in my sleep but I still havn’t gotten a very coveted raid drop. Don’t like it but the devs seem to love it.
Gw2 has no monthly fees
that’s what sells me on this game
I completely rufuse to support subscription based games as they are nothing more than a colossal rip off
Gw2 proves you can make a superb high quality MMO and not extort money from your fanbase every month
I would never have gotten into MMO’s or online gaming for that matter if it was not for Guildwars 1 and its no monthly fee policy

Really? I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Never have I seen a game rip you off more than GW2. I mean $100 a month on average to access all the games content… I’d gladly pay a pitiful $15 a month for the same privilege with the added bonus of the devs not purposefully designing inconveniences into the game to sell you stuff.

I’m more inclined to agree with your post.
For a game that has a “cosmetic end-game”, it’s pretty lame that it revolves around the Gem Store. Essentially all of the new weapon and armor skins are locked behind a gem purchase, and the drop rate on Silver Transmutation Stones is so low that you’re often forced to buy or convert gems in order to update your appearance.
I get that they need to make money somehow and that this game is not a charity, but I still feel as if the focus on the Gem Store is far too strong.

Wildstar is so misogynistic, I can’t see myself ever playing it. Male characters can ugly, but every female is designed to look like a pinup and there’s no option to have any body shape outside of the default.
Hell, even the robot females have stiletto heels.
I’ll stick to GW2 where my female ranger norn can wear a full set of armor and look like a kitten.
I heard rumor that wildstar is some raiding game. Anybody remember that time when raiding was pop. Was it 2007 or something?

Really need to stop posting this, you can use in game gold. Of course it will always take more time than using R/L money. But that is the point of it isn’kitten You do not have 5 hours to grind out the gold needed, but you do have the extra $ to get the same item. In other games where you where you pay the 15$ you still have to grind out the 5 hours, GW2 just removes the time factor when you use R/L money.
Just to iterate again, there is nothing at all in this game blocked by a pay wall. Nothing that you need to spend R/L money on that you couldn’t work towards in the game without the R/L money.

I disagree, there are games where you need to buy quest packs, certain races, mounts, classes, etc that is locked behind the cash shop. GW2 is not one of those games. you can not spend a dollar in the cash shop and still participate in everything some one who drops that $100 a month on skins, buffs, etc. I see you consider ‘skins’ to be essential content, I don’t think most people agree with you on that point. Id be happy to reconsider my opinion if you have specific examples of gameplay being cash shop dependent in GW2.

Infinite continue coin, watchwork pick, and airship pass are the 3 that come to mind right away. The coin and the pass are both examples of inconvenience deliberately being added to the game in order to sell an item. They nerfed the drop rate of coins by like 90% then introduced the coin in the gem shop the next day. They deliberately left out the crafting stations at vigil keep to make people either need to go through an additional 2 load screens, or buy a gem store item. The watchwork pick has taken it a step further in the fact that currently the only way for a new player to get watchwork sprockets is to either buy them from players with the pick or buy the pick themselves.
Additionally, since stat progression is not the goal of GW2, the only thing to work for at max level is cooler appearance items. However 99% of the new appearance items are locked behind the cash shop.
And no matter how loud people yell and scream it, converting gold to gems is not an effective solution. I should be able to earn the rewards by playing the game. I shouldn’t need to grind gold 50 hours a week just to get access to gem store items.

That’s just not true. Challange and complexity don’t come from the trinity. I used to tank in WoW all i did was stand there pressing a couple of buttons while staring at my healers mana and aggro table. I’m not actually opposed to a trinity (i quite like tanking) but your argument is illogical. Challenge and complexity comes from AI and the systems the players have to use. There actually is complexity in GW2’s combat system. The problem is that it becomes meaningless when you’re confronted with poor encounter design and the same terrible AI you find in other MMOs.
12) This has to do with point 2. Since there is a sub fee in WS, then everything can be earned. No need to keep everything behind imaginary once a day timers, no need to have ridiculously low drop rates, etc etc etc. You get the point…i hope.
You know time-gating exists in subbed mmos right? Time gating serves a hugely important role in standard MMOs as a counter balance to power creep, market fluctuations etc.

I never said gameplay, that was you, I said content. Also I’ve noticed people use a very broad definition of convenience. There are sigils, accessories, and multiple other items that can only be made by crafting using watchwork sprockets. If you need to buy a gem store item in order to harvest them then I would say that goes beyond convenience. What if they suddenly locked other crafting items behind a gem store only pick? What if you could only get T6 mats if you had a gemstore item equipped? would that still be convenience? It is the same situation, just a different mat.
I consider unique armor and weapon skins that are much higher quality than what else is available to be content, since that look is what endgame is all about in GW2. I consider earning high powered gathering tools to be content. If they hadn’t sold them in the gem store then there could of been a series of quests or crafting unique items in order to forge a pick like that. It could have been some pretty cool content, but instead it was credit card fodder. That is what I mean when I say content is locked in the gem store.
Consider Wildstar for example since that is the comparison in this thread. In order to earn powerful rare dyes with special effects you need to complete specific challenges and earn a gold medal on that challenge. Things such as beating a certain boss under special conditions, killing a certain number of enemies in a set time, downing some combination of raid bosses, etc. In GW2 the rare dyes are RNG boxes in the gem store. I.E. potential content was removed and placed in credit card swiping RNG gamble boxes.

This basically.
The Gem Store is essentially a huge cop-out instead of offering meaningful rewards through actual gameplay.
1) How did GW2 force you to log in every 2 week? Did they put a gun to your head, they threaten to harm you pet hamster etc….?
I’ll chime in here because this is an issue that concerns me greatly.
I have to log in every 2 week or else I will miss out on content that will afterwards be gone forever. I will not only miss out on the special rewards that will only be accessible during this short time span, much more importantly I will miss out on the experience, the surroundings, the dialogue, the fights, everything.
I’ve been playing WoW since early 2010. I started playing GW2 in beta, and played the game so much that I ended my WoW subscription in mid 2012.
In Autumn 2013, I renewed my WoW subscription because I felt nostalgic about it. And it pulled me back in full stop. You know why? Since the last time I had played, an entire new continent with 7 sub-zones had appeared, with hundreds of quests. Hundreds of new clothing and weapon models. Lots of new pets, lots of new mounts. Lots of new dungeons, lots of new raids. I spent 6 months playing WoW pretty much exclusively because there was just so much new stuff to do (and I still haven’t finished much of it.)
I never meant to “quit” GW2, I always wanted to go back to it, but WoW really kept my attention with all the stuff it gave me to do.
The news about the April feature changes made me log in to GW2 again, and I really enjoyed watching the scene in the bar in Divinity’s Reach (I’ve found a new favorite character in Taimi), and I was baffled when walking through the destroyed Lion’s Arch. But that was it. I’ve been gone from GW2 for over 6 months, and there is almost nothing new for me to do. (I say nothing, because I know that a new Tequatl and these new wurms have been added. I will probably check them out, but I’m not really hardcore, so that content is probably not made for me.)
This is the problem. I was gone from WoW for 1.5 years, get back, and there’s so much content that it keeps me busy for 6+ months. I was gone from GW2 for 6 months, and practically nothing new has been added. Or — it has been added, but it’s since been removed.
GW2 really needs to focus on adding permanent new content. New zones, new stuff to do, for players that still play and for players that return to the game. Or simply stopping deleting the living story updates but preserving them and making them replayable. I want this game to be successful and to capture my attention, because I like it better than WoW in many ways.
edit: I want to add that I’m not even an “end-game bunny”. I’m mostly an altoholic, roleplayer, achievement hunter, outfit collector, pet collector, quest / heart reader, and explorer.
(edited by Awbee.8405)
ok, people consider different thing to be significant content then, that’s ok, im not one to judge.
but yes OP, ive played both WS and ESO and they both made me miss GW2.
I never said gameplay, that was you, I said content.
So you want to go on the record saying that an optional infinite mining pick, that I and most others ignore because it is stupid cheap to purchase non-infinite versions, is content that absolutely must be purchased in order to “experience” the game?
And that the airship pass, which let’s you access everything that non-airpass people also can access, but in close proximity for the sake of convenience, is content that must be purchased to experience this game?
I’ll give you the Infinite Coin one, you’d be hard-pressed to complete tribulation mode and all achievements without one. But considering my Coin is sitting in my bank collecting dust, I am on the fence about giving you the acknowledgement on this one. But I’ll go ahead and toss this bone to you.
The two first ones. You’re seriously, seriously grasping at straws trying to make your point.
I’ve spent less money since the game has come out on mining picks, axes, and gathering equipment than if I were to convert the gold to gems to buy one of those infinite items. If you bought one, you bought it because you wanted the convenience of not having to go to one of the hundreds of easily accessible vendors all over to buy more gathering tools…
I’ve read many of your comments, Zudet, and you clearly have an agenda here against GW2 and will make any exaggerated claim you can to try and make a point. No one is buying that you need to spend $100/mo in gems in order to experience GW2 content. Nobody. You just come off sounding…..bad. At least try to make your comments fit the reality of average players and not someone who absolutely must buy every stupid item on the gem store and then complain that he bought every stupid item on the gem store because he “has to” in order to play the game.
I tried WildStar. It’s so much fun and i enjoy it waaay more than gw2. GW2 is just really really bad at end-game & living story sucks kitten . IMO Wildstar > Guild Wars 2
GW2 is a superior game to almost every MMO in the western industry atm and Wildstar/ESO are both average ones. People would like WS/ESO for a fresh experience however neither bring anything major to the industry.
Are you being sarcastic ? What did GW2 bring to the mmo industry ? Zergs pvp zerg pve and more zergs, zerker meta, lame storyline(traherne), repetitive combat, boring dungeons ( stacking, etc), hearts are not fun, unbalanced classes. Shall i go on ?

It brought a truly cooperative rather than a competitive PvE experience that no other game has so far matched. Might not be your thing but it’s definitely my thing.

yeah I cant imagine going back to a game where you compete for kills, resource nodes or to loot the chest first (looking at you ESO for that last one), not saying GW2 invented these, but they sure add to the overall enjoyment of the PvE experience
