Confirmed altaholic, in therapy, weekly meetings and all that … 17 chars total, 2 of each profession, with an extra war for kicks, 4 levels 80s, the rest mixed throughout … and while I’d be a big fat liar if I said I played each of them every day, they all tend to get their love.

Oh, and I forgot to mention I’ve got two unused spots saved and waiting, fingers crossed and all, for WHEN … not IF … a new profession is rolled out … and if it ain’t any time soon, so be it — 17 chars keeps me pretty occupied any the way.

I love leveling characters, it’s my favorite part of any game. I think I’m at 12ish 80s now, lots 50+ a few below 20.

We have 8 professions, we have 5 races. 40 characters to enjoy as unique with a few spares.

One for reach race and each armour class, except sylvari heavy, as I wanted a sylvari thief and a sylvari ranger, and asuran, as I have an asuran ranger and nr 16 became an asuran engineer. But, those that I have “double” per armour class, are a different gender. (so, the thief is female, the ranger is male, and the asuran ranger is male, and the engineer a female).

I’ll probably end up at 30, one for each race/armour class/gender…

Five at 80 (two rangers), two at 70, nine active between 10 and 60, and the rest are just enjoying life before they have to experience the big bad world.

Right know I have 3 80’s which I play actively. A sylvari guardian called Namocol, which uses mostly a “knight in shining armor” style, a Norn Mesmer called Loco the Man, which mostly uses a “fancy scary clown” style, and a newly 80 Asura Warrior called Lokko Mann (you can see I follow a pattern with the names), which at first when I created it was planning on going the old standard red and black scary warrior look but after getting him a couple of the jade weapons, I’m going for a “dragon warrior” look, with gold and green armor, dragon helmet. Still much of a work in progress, working on his final look (screenshot pending, I’m at work so don’t have one at hand).

My other two characters are a level 12 charr engineer that I’m still pondering about leveling, for some reason it didn’t “click” with me like the guardian, mesmer and warrior did (I may delete it and try ranger or thief, mostly to have one character of each armor class and each race, but I’m also finding an elementalist interesting) and a level 3 human necromancer that is mostly acting as a banking mule for the time being.

Wow impressive, I actually have 8 characters in GW2 and had 14 in GW (and thought it was already too much!). I have a few questions though, doesn’t it get a little bit boring to level them all up? I know for me if it wasn’t for crafting I wouldn’t have all of them leveled to 80 yet, and isn’t it difficult to gear them all up? Well I guess if you level them “legit”, you would make the money for gearing up in leveling. Well anyway I’ll say it again, that’s quite impressive.

I change out characters if they are getting stale, For me I have found there is plenty of room in the open world to change out what maps and routes I play to keep things fresh enough for me. Levels 1 through 30 are usually fairly race specific. Lots of choices from then which maps to play until the story locks you into Orr.

After getting the first few 80s I’ve had no problem gearing them up in exotics at 80. I find I have plenty of gold and mats to craft a set or two of gear for any alt now upon hitting 80. Everything one needs to craft level 80 exotic gear is available just through playing and leveling up. It’s getting the skins I want that on them that takes effort.

I most likely play much more than others. I’m 50, retired and disabled. No I don’t play every day though. I like the game and usually play 8 plus hours a day when I do play.

Griever is an oddity, as the only “second wave” character to overtake his predecessor in levels, although my Thieves are currently tied, and Alastor may pull ahead of Rukhsana… or he may not.

(1) – these two characters never really took off as RP concepts, and are currently just placeholders/inventory mules. If Tengu ever get added as a 6th Race, I’ve already got pretty solid concepts for a Male Tengu Mesmer and Female Tengu Ranger, in order to maintain my overall character balance, provided any lore revealed about the race doesn’t invalidate anything I’ve planned. If a 6th Race that’s not Tengu gets added, I have no idea what I’ll do. I also have concepts for a Female Asura and Male Human, if a 9th class (3rd Heavy Armor) gets added.

IDEALLY, they’ll give me a 9th Class (3rd Heavy Armor) and Tengu PCs at the same time, so I can have a Male Tengu of that class, as well as the Female Ranger and Male Mesmer. Then I can turn that extra Male Human into a Guardian (3rd of that class), make the Female (3rd Heavy) Asura to finally have all three story paths covered, and replace Clarent with a Male Sylvari Elementalist (also 3rd of that class). The extra Elementalist and Guardian would leave me with 5 humans and 3 of everything else.

I do hope we get the Kodans or Tengus, would be very fun! * U * //undeinably excite for anything they throw at us mind.

I have one until professions and combat are spruced up big time. not going to get scammed into spending gems or gold on another profession so I can use the exact same 3 buttons for most content.

I have the normal 8 @ 80 to have one of each profession. I’ve always been that way though, I had one of every class in WoW @ Max level for every expansion before MoP (I haven’t been back since trying MoP and just not having the energy to do it all yet again).

The crazy thing is… with how extensive the customization in armor can be in this game and how quickly you can reach max level, I do have to fight that little voice that nags me to have the 40 so that I have one of each race/class combo.

As of now? None. I deleted them all after I threw everything I had into the mystic forge hoping for a precursor. I might create a character some day, but I doubt it.

I’ve created one of each, but deleted Warrior, Ele and Thief shortly after creation when they just didn’t click with me.

I currently have 3 80s (GRD, RAN, ENG), a level 35ish NEC and an 11 MES who is basically a storage mule for the time being. At some point I’ll probably pick up Warrior again but haven’t decided if I’ll delete my MES to do so or if I’ll buy a new slot. I’m not totally sold on the MES from the little I’ve played her.

My sig tells it all. Besides the fact that the Mesmer’s been my main for months – and is the class what convinced me to buy the game in the first place. Of course, I had to plop the Commander tag on him. The non-80s range from Level 2 (Warrior … just can’t get into the class, tbh.) to mid-50s (Ranger, who I need to get back to at some point).

As for StriderShinryu. Most Mesmer players’ll tell you that the class doesn’t start to get ridiculously fun until Level 40 or so. The issue is that Mesmer is heavily Trait dependant, and you’re not seeing half of what the class can do until then.

I like this thread, it makes me feel quite normal with only 14 characters on my main account and 3 on a second account which I got to run hardcore/Ironman style (for those that haven’t come across hardcore or ironman, its a self limiting challenge where you decide what items, skills, traits etc. you allow your character to use, but when you die, that’s it, delete character and start again.)

On my main account I have one level 80 human ranger and several in the 30 and 40s, plus several below 10 that seem to get changed in and out as I keep wanting to try some other class/race combination.

Leveling and exploring is fun for me so multiple characters is my norm, one of my gripes with GW, particularly the expansions was the level 20 cap I never finished any of them and never even bought GWEN. At least in GW2 I’m free to carry on exploring as and where I want and don’t have to worry about the ‘end game’ content, although having seen the pictures for the legendary bows, I might be tempted to work towards one of them.

Eeeeh I hadn’t heard of these and sound very fun (similar to Nuzlocks~) But I die easily often so my characters would never get very far. /weep orz;;

But yes, I made the thread in hopes there’d at least be some others who horde characters to themselves~ So far I have at least been a little relieved. c’:

8, 1 of every class at lv80… And that’s all i need/want up to the point they release new classes. All my light armor characters are in the priory, all my medium armor are in whispers (because i just love medium armor of the order) and my 2 heavies are vigil.

Charr guardian, arusan ranger, sylvari mesmer, human necro and thief, norn ele and engineer and warrior.

1 character. Still haven’t got to 80 because honestly this game needs a lot of work…from profession complete redesigns to combat to quests to dungeons. Right now, it’s just a boring MMO. Nothing draws you in honestly.

Hoping they fix it because everyone I know that bought the game (10+) quit after a month. None have come back. A friend of mine just got it a few weeks back and then saw the WoW 5.4 trailer and actually resubscribed to WoW after 3 years of being gone.

GW2 needs to honestly take a step back and do a complete overhaul.

Game is just not at all that good in it’s current state. Too bad the world team wasted so much time on an awesome looking world.

I have twelve. The first eight (all but one were human and all are level 80) covered all the existing professions. Professions repeated by the ‘second generation’: ranger (another human), mesmer (asura), necro (charr), warrior (asura).

Thus far no norn or sylvari character has made it out of the 30s (but if the name ‘Brohearne’ had not been taken that charr necro would have been a sylvari).

I despise crafting in any MMO, so leveling the good ol’ fashioned way. I paired my least favorite races with my least favorite classes.. Which is why those 2 are still lowbies.

Each class plays so differently, it’s fun to try them all. I don’t quite understand you people with more than 1 of each class though.

11 characters 5 are 80. I usually have every class maxed out but I dread leveling in this game it is the most boring game I’ve ever had to play when leveling. It isn’t too bad the first time around but after that I don’t know how people stomach it.

Everyone likes different things and the best a MMORPG creater can hope for is to put in enough content to please as many people as possible. As I said I like leveling, but I can understand that others feel differently. I had a friend playing WoW who had to be on several nights a week to try and kill the same raid boss in hope of a particular item dropping, in my mind boring as hell, but that was what he enjoyed so who am I to say that it was wrong. Hopefully Anet can keep up the expansions and keep as many players as possible happy, including us altoholics and not fall into the trap of only concentrating on end game content.

As for why I have multiples of a class, different builds and weapon sets play differently and I can’t be bothered having to swap talents and skills if I fancy a change, so I just change to a different character, and of cause there are the different races as well.

I had a feeling that might be the case for the Mesmer even though it wasn’t for the classes I like playing. I sort of clicked with those right away.. well except for the Ranger sadly. I loved the concept of the class and still do, but spent most of my trek to 80 with her hoping she would grow into what I wanted her to be. lol

I have 3 at the moment (Sylvari ranger, Norn warrior, Asura thief), plus 2 name-placeholders who I may or may not keep. I only play the ranger with any regularity though, as I did not enjoy levelling the warrior as much as I expected and don’t know that I have the energy to keep a second character well-geared. If I start another it will be a light armour character for tailoring/artificing, and because I haven’t got one yet – probably a mesmer but not sure. I only recently finished levelling the thief however so I am not in a great hurry to start another just yet.

6. My main is my only 80, a human elementalist.

I also have a level 70 Asura Guardian, level 60 Charr Thief, level 50 Norn Necromancer, and a level 25 Human Engineer. All male but the engineer. My 6th slot is relatively recent and has gone through a new character – it now has a Sylvari Mesmer at level 20 from the achievement XP scroll. I plan to at least get her through the Sylvari specific PS steps for the achievements; otherwise I don’t care much for Sylvari.

I tend to play alts sporadically and focus on my main. In some ways I don’t want to level any alts to 80 because it will make me feel like I need to gear them in exotics.

I have 7 characters, and it’s almost more than I can handle. I’ve considered deleting my 7th, but as of yet I haven’t worked up the guts to do it. My other 6, I absolutely adore, so they’re here to stay. These 6 are pictured below.

From left to right:
1. Raigra Gorebutcher- She’s a Blood Legion soldier who is small for a warrior, but tough. She isn’t very bright, drinks too much, and is a bully—but she is slavishly devoted to her Centurion, Nyoka.
2. Wynne Gautr- She is descended from the ancient Kurzick people of Cantha, and takes her heritage very seriously. She lived for a few years with the Sylvari.
3. Albane Memorykeeper- She was Iron Legion, but lost her warband and became a Gladium. She joined Blood Legion’s Gore Warband, but found the tactics of her Centurion-Nyoka-morally objectionable, and deserted, became Gladium permanently.
4. Nergal Junior- Once the child of human nobles, his family was forced to leave Divinity’s Reach after he accidentally killed a playmate with necromancer powers. He tries to do good, but has violent tendencies, and is outcast among others.
5. Tionvrath Gorefall- Mentally and physically disabled from years of torture at the hands of Flame Legion, Tionvrath is nonetheless a formidable necromancer for Blood Legion.
6. Nyoka Gorefell- Ruthless, moral-less, and intelligent—Nyoka has risen to the rank of Centurion, despite her youth. She leads through brutality and fear, intentionally using the least intelligent charr to form her warband, so she can brainwash and control them easily.

ok lets scale this up a bit and add more juice to the topic : i Have 11 characters , 9 off them are level 80 , 11 in total have full World versus World completion . I also have 9 times Full 100% world Completion . so thats every class at max ! guardians , i have 2 of them , cause i made norn , but then fell for the charm of the smallest possible asura guardian . I can try to post the picture where i have 18 gifts of exploration as proof but im not good at forum uploading stuff

so as long as i didnt post it , u can whisper me ingame and ill happily show you …

I’m quite impressed with the way you recreated some of the in-game characters, especially all of the five “main characters” of each race. i guess it must be weir feeling talking to Rytlock as Rytlock, talking to Eir as Eir etc… Anyways, very interesting approach.

Weindrasi – I really like how you put some basic stories behind your toons. It makes them way more interesting. Well done!

So, update for me. I bought the 4 additional char slots I wanted on my 2 accounts over the weekend. I now have 2 of every class. grins wildly
