So i just got a dusk and now its gone
I think support is your best bet. Forum people can’t help you with that Besides, I think precursors should not be forgeable with other exotics… but yeah, w/e
(edited by Evalia.7103)
This is why I was vouching for precursors to have a red font for their name as a new rarity.
i dont like my chances but i have put in a ticket.
From what I saw other people post on the forums, support is not big on returning items lost due to 100% player mistake, but you might be lucky, especially seeing how this is the most expensive precursor. Good luck!
That sucks. I’m rooting for you man.
Thanks guys! still waiting on a response lol.
People have gotten back precursors after using salvage kits. You should be able to write time, character and server to help prove your case.
i just bought 20$ worth of gems and got some rare greatswords to throw into the forge. I managed to get a dusk and as i was putting the other exotics i got back into the forge i put the dusk in by mistake too as i was side tracked at the same time. Is there anyway of getting it back? i have also submitted a support ticket.
Unlikely, since you willingly forged it. But support might be able to help if they’re nice, just be friendly and nice.
If you get it back then im going to write that i lost one as well

I believe I’ve seen a couple threads about people getting precursors back after destroying them by mistake. OP, keep your fingers crossed!
Aside from that, 155. “Type in item name” confirmation box on deletion/salvaging/mysticforging/vendoring of all precursors and expensive named exotics. feature has been requested quite a long time ago.
Alright I was there when he did it, It was 4:00-6:00 Sydney time 23th oct 2014, and he just got gems before hand to do it. Surely they can check the logs to fix it.
I’ve had a similar experience; I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say I lost a precursor due to a game update. The ticket went in and in the end, I was reunited with my weapon. It does take a while though and may take several back and forths.
I believe support will help you out. Hopefully they do
I had a guild mate transmutate his Bard which removed it’s ability to become a legendary. He filed a ticket and they gave him his Bard back.
i dont like my chances but i have put in a ticket.
I’m glad you wrote Customer Support. They often are able to help, and it’s their first effort to do so whenever possible.

I really hope you are a bit ahead of yourself with the congrats on this one.
Still nothing. Hopefully i get a response before the weekend.
you have to wait 3 days before worrying about responses.
I got back an ascended piece that I accidentally destroyed. I detailed the exact hour/date on the ticket, it took like 2 weeks but they did give it back.
I deleted one or two of my infinite gathering tools ages ago because it was soulbound at the time (account bound infinite gathering tools weren’t a thing back then) and I wanted to make a new character and there was no way to transfer it. Then a couple months later they were made account bound, but you still had to use that character with the soulbound version and cash it in at an npc (and I figured that would be the case so either way I was at a loss because I had no more gems to buy another character slot on the off chance that one day they’d become account bound).
Needless to say the ticket I sent in was rejected and basically told they don’t return deleted items (well that’s funny cause others have had their items returned).
But being as this is a dusk and they’d get a lot of hassle if it wasn’t returned, I wouldn’t be surprised if you get your item back.
Double standards for some I guess.

some of these replies are sounding promising lol

Same here, I deleted 2 molten picks back when they were SB. And not long ago, I accidentally deleted a character with a whole set (molten, chop-it-all and consortium).
If OP get his dusk back, that would be great (I got one as a drop long ago and it was the best day ever so I can understand how he must be feeling) BUT, it would be total unfair to those people who have gotten the “sorry, don’t return deleted items” (I personally have read a lot of threads where people submit a ticket and got a “no” as answer).

Ha gutted, unfortunately that’s not a bug or a glitch, it’s your own fault so support likely won’t do anything.
It’s your own fault, you shouldn’t get it back.
It’s your own fault, you shouldn’t get it back.
Why would you even take the time to post something so mean-spirited.

It’s not mean spirited. It is his own fault, therefor he should not be reimbursed.
Their support cant refund items every time some one “accidentally” loses an item they wished to keep.
Not only that but in the past anet has said they actually have no way to do so, as well. Further there is no proof he actually had what he said he did and given the above, I don’t know if anet even has a way to verify his claim.
Goodluck. I know from personal experience that GW2 Customer Support is one of the best in this industry. They are super awesome. I really hope they can help you!
@fellyn: They can confirm it. Everything is in their knowledge. They can see if you forged, sold, destroyed, or got anything in the game. The game logs every. single. thing. that happens to everyone.

Doesn’t change the fact that it shouldn’t be reimbursed when he did it to himself.
I can understand if there was a glitch or something that resulted in it disappearing from his inventory but that isn’t the case.

Don’t try to defend yourself on this with some “support can/can’t do” nonsense. You said that he shouldn’t get it back. That’s your opinion. And it’s a mean-spirited one.
I’m sure you’ve never made mistakes in your life though… jesus some people.

Sure. Mean spirited. Nevermind that anet in the past hasn’t refunded people things for reasons beyond their control, but this guy made an oops so he should be treated special.

Because it’s probably what a lot of people are thinking?
Anet easily has the best customer support out of the games I’ve played yet it’s kind of worrying they’d take the time to deal with something like this when there are probably more pressing support issues. This guy made a frustrating mistake and I feel for him but so do a lot of other players who can’t be reimbursed.
I sold a Sam for 175g two weeks ago and now it’s 300 – 400g. Can I be reimbursed? Thanks. Oh and that few 100g worth of rare GS I threw into the MF was a mistake I’d love to have those back…

I don’t think that fellyn’s feelings are shared by most. It’s not like the OP regretted a purchase because they could have got more gold this week rather than last week. It was an error, from clicking a whole bunch of stuff over and over. Anyone could make that kind of mistake. I would feel sick if that happened to me. I know I’ve done stuff similar, though not on that scale. You get slightly distracted or whatever; you’re tired, you just click out of habit. Everyone does it. Everyone.
I really hope the OP gets his Dusk back.

A) It doesn’t matter one bit whether you think he “deserves” the item back or not. Anet will act as they are going to act, based on their policies.
B) Because it doesn’t matter, all you are doing is taking the opportunity to wish bad things on another person, i.e. mean-spirited.
C) How in the hell is it worrying? What, you think they’re so incompetent that they can’t manage support priorities without you worrying about it?
D) There’s a world of a difference between accidentally deleting an item (in this case, forging it) and selling an item, only to have its sale price go up later.
I don’t even understand how you justify this selfish attitude. Stop trying to hide behind your petty rationalizations.
maybe make precursors ascended, the cost the same if not more, they are rare as kitten and people could actually use them for something other then legendary crafting.

I’m not wishing bad things on anyone. Saying he shouldn’t be reimbursed because he screwed up is not the same thing is saying he should die because he screwed up.
I’m merely saying he should be treated the same way everyone else has been for the last 2 years. I’m sorry that you think some people deserve special attention.

I don’t blame you for sending in a ticket. I would too of course if I somehow managed to find myself in the same situation. What happened sucks big time. Just not convinced this should be a legitimate support issue…

Whether they do or do not help you with this, don’t post the outcome here.
Meditate on this. Trust me.

Well, I think about it this way: The game mechanics allow a precursor as input for the MF together with other exotics, what – in my opinion – shouldn’t be the case in the first place.
There have been similar cases where people got a refund for losing items because of strange game mechanics. Items with less value than a precursor that some of us don’t even get in over 4000 hours of gameplay… So I guess the legitimacy of those support issues can/should only be evaluated case by case, and definitely not by us but only by the support team.
I for my part think the OP should get his precursor back and hope he does. But you definitely are also entitled to your opinion.

How about you take a chill pill instead of frothing at the mouth and flying into a fit of keyboard mashing rage.
A) No kitten. It’s called an opinion, it seems it upsets you when somebody has a different one.
B) Can you even read? Where have I wished bad things upon another person? I said I feel for him but I don’t feel that this is the type of stuff support should have to deal with. It’s a waste of resources imo.
C) This doesn’t even make sense, but I’ll do my best to respond. I think this is really, really stretching what support should be dealing with. When I said Anet has the best support I’ve experienced, I wasn’t joking, but this just seems over the top. Best support, seemingly at the expense of every other aspect of their game…
D) Lol! Obviously it was hyperbole. The point being that how far do you want to stretch the definition of “made a mistake” for item reimbursement. As for the remarks about me being selfish… do you know even know what the words you’re using actually mean? How on Earth is me disagreeing that this is a legitimate support issue “selfish”.
What a bizarrely emotional response from you.
Lol, I’m not raging. Gotta love how any time someone gets close to use swear words people automatically assume that they’re raging. Learn the difference between emotion and emphasis.
Anyway, if you guys can’t see how pointlessly negative you’re being and the selfish attitudes that you’re putting forth, I can’t force it into your brains. I tried to explain, but I’m not going to repeat myself endlessly on it.
You either get it or you don’t and right now, neither of you are getting it at all. Maybe do yourselves a favor, take a step back, and look at what you’re actually adding to the thread (hint: it’s nothing).
Honestly, I’m normally more patient about this stuff, but you caught me at a bad time. I get real sick of people having anti-mistake attitudes. It’s as if you guys aren’t comprehending that we’re human beings.
P. S. This has nothing to do with special or non-special treatment. You are not comprehending that our opinions on whether he should get the item back have basically nothing to do with the decision support is going to make. They don’t base their decisions on popular opinion. Which leaves three options: Say nothing, be positive, or be negative. And there is no logical excuse here for the third option – that’s what I mean about nonsense rationalizations.
End of story.
Thank you for discussing it in a reasonable manner, Rayti…

I don’t really have a problem with them allowing a precursor as input. It is after all of exotic quality. There are many examples of items having worth above what its quality suggests it should be.
Furthermore, there are two very simple ways to avoid having this happen to you:
1) Bank the precursor
2) Look at the items you are putting in the forge. The item avatar for Dusk is quite unique, and is only used for Dusk and Naegling I believe.
I for my part think the OP should get his precursor back and hope he does.
I hope he does for his sake as well, regardless of my opposition to it being a legit support issue.

I’m curious how it’s selfish. That implies there is something for me to gain by this random guy I don’t know not getting a precursor reimbursed to him.
Thank you for discussing it in a reasonable manner, Rayti…
No reason not to do so, is there?

You’re definitely right about that. I just think that making things foolproof in the first place by defining a precursor as a different rarity, not allowing it as input with other exotics, a confirmation window, etc. definitely would be less effort than refunding all the mistakenly destroyed/forged/whatever precursors (or even just reading through the tickets and evaluate whether to refund them or not). It would be a time saver for the support team. And that’s always a good thing, with all the more pressing issues they certainly have to deal with.
I hope he does for his sake as well, regardless of my opposition to it being a legit support issue.
That’s nice to hear/read.
I’m curious how it’s selfish. That implies there is something for me to gain by this random guy I don’t know not getting a precursor reimbursed to him.
There are people in this game that consider other people not getting good things a benefit to themselves. Not saying that you are such a person in general, but this thread definitely does give such impression.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I really hope you get your dusk back. I know if I was in the same situation, I’d want it back as well, so don’t listen to the naysayers. They’d also want it back if they made a mistake, even though they might not want to admit it. We all make mistakes sometimes.
Good luck with your support ticket.
Your own fault, you do not deserve to get it back.
Lol. So if you accidentally trip and fall one day and break a leg, I guess the bystanders or paramedics will just say “well, it’s your fault so you don’t deserve to get help or treatment.”
Sometimes I wonder why people act as if mistakes or accidents are somehow unforgivable sins. It’s laughable.
Well, the evil side of me is like “good, good, I don’t have one, so netiher should you c:<” but then I feel like a…like a centaur, and so I hope you will get it back.
I’m curious how it’s selfish. That implies there is something for me to gain by this random guy I don’t know not getting a precursor reimbursed to him.
You asked, so I will indulge. Your original words:
It’s your own fault, you shouldn’t get it back.
I am simply extrapolating the attitude therein.
“You shouldn’t get it back because…” Then I filled in the blanks. And you happened to confirm them for me:
It is his own fault, therefor he should not be reimbursed.
Nevermind that anet in the past hasn’t refunded people things for reasons beyond their control, but this guy made an oops so he should be treated special.
The last part here is where the selfish part becomes apparent – other stuff has happened to people where they didn’t get refunded, therefore this guy shouldn’t get refunded, i.e. “stuff happened in the past that bothered me concerning Anet’s policies about items, therefore everyone should have to hurt like I do.” You know your own mind better than I do or anyone else here. Maybe I’m completely off – but how you’re coming across is not in a good way.
Again though, like I said, arguing the point is irrelevant (Anet is not going to change their policies for items based on a few vague forum arguments about fairness), so saying he shouldn’t get it back (in this thread) is kind of like going into a poor part of town and saying, “Government welfare programs are unfair to taxpayers.”
