Ok here it is again

“Really allowing you to show off your accomplishments and symbolize all the things that you’ve been doing”

So what are the players that don’t have legendaries doing wrong and what is this player that has most of them doing right?

Are our prayers to RNG gods wrongly said? Do we have to buy gold? What is it, exactly, that makes such things possible for another, while many people with, mind you, over 1500 hours in the game, do not even have one?

What are the accomplishments we are supposed to be doing Isaac? I really want to know! I’m at a loss here.

Focus.

I have less than 500 hours /played with part of that being afk. Everything I do is focused mainly on getting my legendary of choice. If I had 1000 hours played, I am 100% positive I would have had a legendary by now, probably even two.

I’m creeping towards my goal. While it is slow, I do know I will get there eventually. There’s only so many steps needed, but casual play can make these incrementally. Obsidian took me over a year to get.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

If someone wants to buy 100,000 gems there is nothing stopping them…
If someone is using bots to manipulate the trade post you could make it quite hard for people just playing the game to accumulate equivalent wealth…
Anet might employ people to run around with thses things so the rest of us want them…
They didn’t get their hands slapped because they didn’t directly abuse an exploite enough to have that happen…
They concentraited just on that goal alone… AS much as I hate to admit it, if I hadn’t played the game how I wanted to and didn’t spend any gold on anything ever I might have been able to get one by now. And could probably go a fair way towards one if I liquidated my bank, but any last steps, I’m sure, would be giant leaps.

But I can’t really see how this applys:-
“Really allowing you to show off your accomplishments and symbolize all the things that you’ve been doing”. That’s better represented by location specific gear and the world complete star… Since there is an obvious schism regarding these things. (Ecto and t6 mats don’t grown on trees. Nevermind the precursor.)

All hail Emperor Anet, and their new clothes!

First you farm. Then you play the TP. Then you farm some more. Maybe hit the TP again. Then after that, well hell, ya just keep farming.

Throw in some dungeon runs for extra gold and use the tokens to salvage ectos.

Then farm again. There you have it. The secret reviled.

Anet uses a true RNG system. RNG is RNG. Some people get lucky. Some people get average. Some people are in a RNG void and get nothing.

The same people that are lucky now may be in the RNG void in the next moment. Unless they’re not.

Those who run average may soon find themselves exactly where they are now. Unless they do better or worse.

Those in the RNG void have no reason to think the next moment will be any different then it is now. Unless it is.

Maybe they’ll get lucky. Maybe it’ll get worse. Maybe they’ll manage average for a drop or two. Maybe they’ll get double precursors from eight rares in the mystic forge.

Your brain is angry because it can’t find a pattern and your sense of ‘fairness’ is outraged over the luck of some VS your own.

Isn’t chaos keen?

I am in RNG hellocrappydropagain and every day it is a fight with myself to not quit entirely.

And it is not that I want a “Legendary”—I have always been a kind of plain jane looking character. I just want to be able to get EXOTIC statwise (and I could care less what they look like) on my alts so they can go to other places and not die and then just go stand in LA or go back to Queensdale….

I also would like to see some drop cross my screen that is not in grey text. Heck on some of my worst days a WHITE text item makes me go: OMG something! Something!!!

I would like to not feel like I am in a dead end job, or a unpaid worker to those who are “playing the market”. When the only items in your inventory are stuff you got from low or mid level material nodes, and you finally just give up and go stand in a beautiful spot and look closely at the grass for “fun” —--something is wrong with this picture:

Hint: The drop window shows all my drops for more than an hour of play, note the “25” on my sigil buff, then count the non-junk and non material node ITEMS OF WONDER AND GLORY for my hour of play…

Too bad most legendaries look pretty crappy. The mystic forge uniques look better. The only legendary I really care about is the dreamer on my ranger for lols. The legendary rifle and bolt are pretty cool. Twilight is ok. The rest is just meh. The mace I can’t take seriously, especially since each hit makes fireworks sounds.

Out of the mystic forge uniques, there’s a crapton that look better:

I’m sorry, but are you having difficulties getting exotic gear for your characters?

Really?

Why, are you trying to get all your equipment to actually drop? TP is your friend. I don’t play the market because I don’t have the inclination, but man, just a single dungeon run will net you ~1gold piece at least, without any rare dropes even. More if you luck out and get a rare drop.

Fractals, ~1-2 gold per run easy even at low levels.

Which means you can get a character decked out in exotics within a week or so.

And that is too long? Or am I not getting what you’re saying?

Am I the only one amused here that we see one of the gimpiest classes with all these weapons equipped?

Also OP, sounds like you don’t like the fact that some people got a system, well guess what, that’s life man, get over it and scrub off that jealousy. Because there is no other way to call it.
Why? you have the exact same tools to make money just as fast but you do not take advantage of them, either because you’re too lazy or claim to care about the game’s content too much.
Being lazy is one thing, but if you play the TP you actually get to play the game MORE to your heart’s content, simply because you don’t have to focus on certain tasks to make money.
Sure it is boring to play the market, but what is more boring? 30 mins on broker or 3 hours in Cursed shore?

I do not support TP players, as matter of fact I despise them, but I accept that this is how things are and there is nothing we can do about it. Either join them up or stick to your own agenda.

Apparently I’m with Nalora (The RNG hellocrappydropagain club). L

I really enjoy open world PvE. Unfortunately for me, this means I cannot make any money and thus depend on my “drops” to equip my characters.

If there are weapons/armor that I want my characters to have that they did not get via loot drops, then I will have no choice but to grind my way through dungeons to make the money needed to buy them.

I want into (The RNG hellocrappydropagain club) actually I think I’m already an honorary member.

If it doesn’t drop for me I have to craft it. Which is essentially what I have done for both my lvl 80 chars. Unfortunately I wasn’t shown the memo early on about DPS/burst dmg being the way to get decent loot.

Now that I know my lil warrior is at lvl45. And kitten if she isn’t already sitting on 4gold in two days. I can’t barely do that with my lvl 80 ranger or lvl 80 guardian doing pen/shelter. Both of those I did the condition build with and just now I’m working on retraiting and then getting new armor for them to do more straight dmg.

Until then I’ll level the warrior and let her gear the others. So far it’s working and I wish I had thought of trying it much earlier. The two lvl 80 characters are on hunts for rare stuff instead. Something that is much more fulfilling than running pen/shelter mindlessly for gold.

EDIT: @Calae – strange I thought this thread was about Legs too. Being in medium and heavy armor I don’t get to see them often. Got my hopes up for nothin.

The core and precursor acquisition need redoing. Other than that, the process is fine.

I would like some sort of backstory, but those two things should be addressed first.

Here’s what people thought of GW1 when it first came out: http://tinyurl.com/bntcvyc

I’m sorry, but are you having difficulties getting exotic gear for your characters?

Really?

Yeah. I was thinking about that. You can craft exotics and if that’s not an option, you can get exotics with karma. The game throws karma at you if you just play it.

Exotics aren’t very hard to come by. Dungeons are an option that you can do, not to farm, but casually.

Nothing to do with RNG or luck. It will happen.

Eventually you’ll get enough to deck yourself out in high end “15k” gear, and in the mean time before that you should be making a steady stream of money.

But let’s say you hate dungeons and none of the 15k armors interest you.

Okay. I can get just about a gold in an hour without trying. Much more if I’m actually trying to make money.

Since the downleveling balance, you can feasibly get level appropriate gear anywhere you want and so, more money to get whatever your heart desires.

They made it even easier. You’re always going to be disappointed if you’re waiting on that exotic drop to vindicate your time. You’re doing it wrong.

Yeah you should be able to craft up or buy exotics without too much of a problem. Been playing for about 5 months and just finished fully outfitting my second character with exotics, I think I’ve put $20 real money into gems. That’s without specifically farming or grinding anything, just wandering around doing exploration and DE’s and selling mats and whatnot on the TP. You should be able to make money just wandering around and doing regular PvE stuff.

The Legendaries, however, are way too much of a time sink for just a different looking weapon.

If you would have had anything of value to say, that ridiculous sentence would have negated the whole thing.

Only way I can see having so many legendaries this early in the game is photoshop, selling gems for gold or they were one of the lucky ones who got in on the early exploits and made tons and tons of gold and just simply bought them from the TP.

I honestly can’t believe the RNG gods are this kind even one time, let alone 5 times.

The Dreamer was the one weapon I would have chased after if I were going to go after a legendary. But since they turned it into some sort of a lame reject from Pixie Hollow, there’s not really anything I’m that interested in. Certainly not enough to ever bother wasting my time in WvW to attain.

First you start playing at headstart.
Then you find a way to make money very quickly. Maybe you’re hitting every ori/mithril on every map, constant grinding in Orr, whatever.
But you get 20g. in the first week of playing. This is doable. Hard, possibly boring and tedious, but doable. If I challenged a player to get 20g in a week and they played 20hour a day they’d be back to me in 3 days already finished.

You buy two dusks. You sell them later for 200g each.
Using that 400g you buy more lower end precursors like the legend or spark and flip those when they double in price 2 weeks later.
now sitting comfortably at 800g you wait until the karka event. You buy 8 precursors (almost all of them were bottoming out at 100g) and wait a month. They’re back at 600g a pop. Now you’ve got 4800 gold.

Or maybe you hold onto 5 precursors and just sell the other 3, so now youve got all the precursors you need, and 1800g, which is honestly enough to buy a good chunk of the mats needed. Or you can reinvest that 1800g again. Seeing as precursor prices are still constantly rising.

Playing the market? Vaguely. It’s more like making solid investments.

A friend of mine told me in the first week of playing that I should put my gold into minipets because they’d go up. the exotic mini’s were something like 5g back then. Now they’re over 100g. If you want to call that playing the market you can. But it’s really just solid investing.

The first adopters of anything stand to make the most money.
People who recognize items that will become desirable, and put enough effort into obtaining them early on, make the most money.
It’s not RNG. It’s not some big conspiracy to keep you down. It’s people getting a decent chunk of gold early into the games life, and then investing it.

If you think that’s unfair, well there’s nothing that I can do to change your mind. But it’s really not. They supported the game, they got to play in the headstart, they put in the effort to get that cash early on, and now they get to reap the benefits.
