So.. why do you hate alts?
You don’t need ascended item in wvw. The 10 stat increase won’t save your life.
This is obviously an oversight made my Arenanet that effects a vast number of players, including myself. Let’s just make our concerns heard, in a reasonable manner, and I’m sure this will get sorted in the coming months.

10 stats? l2math. This is just the beginning as every piece of armor and accessory and weapons will be ascended eventually.
You don’t need ascended item in wvw. The 10 stat increase won’t save your life.
If the ascended items are not important, then we can safely remove them from the game, right?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I’m down! Exotic Stat cap for everbody!
Totally agree with this. I like the flexibility of GW2, I play 11 characters. How am I supposed to get ascended gear for all of them??

Important? Sure. Necessary? Absolutely not.

In my opinion, yes.
But my opinion is futile and please go ask for Anet to do this.
Because there are so many kittens ask for vertical progression so Anet create this near-to-nothing progression to feed them.
No one force you to get it, really.

Yeah, it’s the beginning. There will be many more ways to aquire ascended gear.
Yeah sure It’s not nescessary for you to have exotics either – you do great in them greens. Thanks for pugging with us. At least I got my rez daily…
Why not make lvl’s account wide so if i lvl up to 80 and make a new alt i don’t have to go through the same content again? That way i don’t have to spend so much time on making alt’s that i can use in www.
I love that they came out and said it was a poor maneuver to roll out ascended gear and make them only attainable one way. “Hey I know! Next patch let’s make ascended necklaces only attainable one way…”
ArenaNet either needs to stop lying to their playerbase or actually learn from their mistakes. At this rate I expect the next patch to include the next tier higher than ascended. Of course they will then inform us that they wanted that tier to be in at launch and it just wasn’t ready, but don’t worry! There won’t be another tier after that!
To anyone that says this is just the patch to setup the new systems, I say don’t put the necklaces in the game then. Just making ascended rings obtainable through dailies is good as it allows the gear to be obtained other ways, but then introducing a necklace only obtainable by dailies, monumentally stupid. It is easy for ArenaNet to stick ascended gear on vendors for karma, honor badges, etc. So why haven’t they?
Yeah sure It’s not nescessary for you to have exotics either – you do great in them greens. Thanks for pugging with us. At least I got my rez daily…
Please. If you’re half as elite as you’re pretending to be you’d have a set group and wouldn’t have room for puggers. Learn2elitist.

Same content? You are aware that there are no fewer than two, and in many instances three or four, zones for any given level range, right?
I’m getting very close to just giving up.
I really enjoy GW2, I honestly do, but this constant feeling I have of being given short shrift is driving me away.
I already stopped buying gems with cash after the Halloween event.
Soon, if the game continues to feel more like work than play, I’m just going to stop.
I miss the days of being able to experiment cheaply with different builds simply by dropping new inscriptions on a piece of cheap armour. Why on Earth can’t I do that here? Why do I have to spend either a load of gold or a buttload of time grinding out materials just to experiment with exotic gear that’s not even top tier?
Building up a set of armour and weapons for every possible scenario was so much easier and pleasurable in GW1.
Now I feel as if I’m being told that if I choose a character and build, I have to stick with it.
This is incredibly disappointing. I came to Guild Wars 2 to get away from the constant grinds of other games such as DCUO and AoC. Turns out, it’s gradually turning into them.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

Ofc i know that but i have done those on my main for map completion. So if someone want to make it take less time to get ascended items for the alts, why can’t they make it so it take less time to get the alts to 80 right? And if they made map completion count for all the characters the problem will be solved since then u have to visit it either with 1 character or with multiple characters, that’s up to you how you do it:)

Distate.. I agree.
Distate.. I agree. Many ways to attain the gear needed to maximize your character is definately appreciated. But don’t tempt them with adding Kharma cost ascendeds.. we all just bought 1M worth of Orrian jewelry boxes and got trash results! lol (actually a guildy got “The Hunter” from one of them and therefore made us blow a F*Load on them lol)

I’m so elite I solo my dungeons. I do wish exotics was the highest tier. Adding ascended gear as a new tier just doesn’t justify anything for me lol

Really? Take another look. Rings and Amulets are now available through WvW, any Dungeon, and the Open World. It’s a decent move, and with a little thought, and less time mocking them, you would come to that understanding as well.
Guardian
OK Gisei – provide some proof that the ascended rings & ammys are avialbale in WvW in ANY way. Go ahead – Photoshopped screenies will be fine.
yeah they said in the manifesto that gw2 would have the same leveling time as gw1, which is odd because it only took me 15 hours to max in gw1 but 80 hours in gw2..
Jokes aside, once youve level a toon to 80 not many of us are all that keen to do it again with the time required.
Not trying to insult your game at all anet, the gameplay and mechanics are wonderful but pve is a bit of a drag sometimes :>

My problem is just linking the dailies account wide. If I could have a laurel count on each character bound to them, I could do the dailies 6 or 7 times so they can all work on their ascended gear. As it currently stands I have to pick one character to be favoured and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. When you have a few characters in full exotics, how do you pick one to work on this new tier? It’s going to take me years.

What you’re arguing is an opinion. Just because you find leveling through PvE boring doesn’t mean it’s a flawed system. There are other people who quite thoroughly enjoy the PvE leveling process.
Yeah Aisina.. Thats what i was getting at.. I play the game a ton. I play on many different alts – I do what the group needs. Hey we’re doing AC and we dont have an ele yet? guess what – Ill play ele!
But like you said. Dailys on the account dont help me gear everyone. I’m full exotic on 6 toons so far – It will be 8 before I ever consider their “end game” legendary skins. I was happy with that call. I’m NOT happy to take 6 months to get every toon on par.
=(

Then run FotM. What exactly is it you people want? What other MMO hands out top-tiered items for nothing? ANet is giving you the traditional method to obtain them (run dungeons), and they’re giving you an alternative, casual-friendly method of obtaining them, long-term though it may be.

well darkace, they are NOT doing that. Thats the problem. “Run dungeons” is not the solution. RUN FOTM will not help. I have 45 Pristine Fractal Relics. If that was the cost, I was prepared to pay it.
You see – You cannot attain the gear by playing more. You can ONLY attain the gear by playing for a very very long time – a little bit per day.
What you’re arguing is an opinion. Just because you find leveling through PvE boring doesn’t mean it’s a flawed system. There are other people who quite thoroughly enjoy the PvE leveling process.

Yes. And I personally found leveling in that game to be boring. Like I said, “opinions”.

So why should i that don’t enjoy the leveling process more than once need to do it on every character? I enjoyed it the first time on my main and i did all the zones with my main for map completion. But i don’t enjoy doing it all again, so i would like it if lvl’s were account wide and same with lvl completion. Those who then enjoy doing all the starting zones again can do that since you lvl up after 80 and get skill points.
So why should i that don’t enjoy the leveling process more than once need to do it on every character?
Because that’s how games work. You start at level 1, and you work your way up to the level cap. I don’t know why you would expect it to be any other way.
Quake 3 doesn’t work like that.
What I’m saying is, if you say “games work like that”, you’re dismissing a whole buttload of game types.
That’s pretty narrow-minded.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

We didn’t ask them for neither. We were perfectly okay with the exotics, and the multiple way we could have obtained them, thank you very much. We didn’t want Anet to take what they’ve already done (and done well) and hrow it in the dustbin to placate 1% elitists that won’t be satisfied by it anyway.
Not to mention Anet apparently used this as an excuse to narrow the number of supported builds (seeing as half of them don’t have their ascended eq).

I would think that given the context of the conversation you guys would be able to realize I’m not comparing Guild Wars 2’s leveling system to games like Super Mario Brothers, FIFA World Cup, or Frogger. Use a little sense, people.

I don’t want them for nothing, I’m prepared to do my daily quests per character. At one laurel a day. It will take the time ANet have already implemented to get one piece for each character, I’m not asking all the laurels go in the same pot so if I have 100s of chars it’s suddenly super easy. I’d just like the equal opportunity to do this new method for every character, not just one.
Because that’s how games work. You start at level 1, and you work your way up to the level cap. I don’t know why you would expect it to be any other way.
I already did that, so why should i have to do it again? Even though your opinion is that it should be like that, my opinion is different:)
And i don’t expect the leveling to be different, but i want it to be different.
Look at it this way, if i choose a mesmer as my main and then find out that i want to change, why should i then need to start all over again?
I love www and even though u get scaled to lvl 80 you will have a harder time at lvl 1, so if i then want to play another profession i first have to lvl to 80 then get all the gear. All that takes time and maybe for you it’s fun but for me it’s not so fun doing all the pre work to be able to have fun in www.
I agree on that you lvl from 1-80 the first time since you are still learning the game and it’s fun too see alle the beatifull places, but not when u have done it 2-3 times.
I like playing different characters because if i get bored of playing 1 class i can then choose to play another with a different playstyle.
Also for the “Because that’s how games work”, gw2 have already worked on not doing stuff the same way as other games:)

Funny, because I had to work for every single weapon and suit of armor displayed in my Hall of Monuments. I guess I missed the “Free Best Gear in the Game” Vendors in Lion’s Arch. Bummer, because that could have saved me a ton of time.

Then that’s a very narrow-minded point of view, where you have already decided certain games must behave certain ways.
Just because other games in the same genre do things a certain way, doesn’t mean all games in that genre have to do things that way.
If developers and publishers follow that line of thought, we’ll never get anything new.
Do you want the same old crap recycled over and over again, or do you want new experiences?
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Do you want the same old crap recycled over and over again, or do you want new experiences?
I’ll take “the same old” with the stuff that works and “fresh new take” on the stuff that doesn’t. Leveling, in my opinion, should always be from 1 to cap. I think ANet threw the players who don’t like leveling a bunch of bones; level increased to cap when entering PvP, level increased to cap when entering WvW, experience given out like candy on Halloween, etc.
I completely agree with OP. However, the player base of GW2 demand grind and vertical progression that they have been accustomed to in other RPG’s. I think ANet should find some middle ground: Make the WvW skill/equipment system identical to that of sPvP. This way, PvE becomes the traditional RPG experience where you can grind one “main” so you feel like you’re “progressing”, meanwhile the people who like playing with different classes and builds have WvW and sPvP.
Then run FotM. What exactly is it you people want? What other MMO hands out top-tiered items for nothing?

What HoM weapons have to do with BiS eq? Getting collector weapons and top tier armor took less effort than getting one exotic eq in this game (and i’m not even talking about ascended). Especially after Factions, when you didn’t even need to do Droks run anymore to get to the vendor. Unless you meant literally ’for nothing", in which case you were strawmanning and should be ashamed for it.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

What about the people who enjoy playing with different classes and builds but have no interest in WvW or sPvP?

You guys are s—- out of luck, because you have to share the same PvE world with the rest of GW2’s players and they want grind, so ANet has to make the sensible business decision and cater to them. Sorry.
Alts are replayability for me and GW2 has managed to kill alts. There’s simply no point to them and more frustration than fun in levelling them. Fractals and Ascended huge mistake imo yeah sure it filled up LA but left most of the open world full of tumbleweed. I’d personally rather rip my arms off than do Fractals with my alts and when all’s said and done what else is there to do. Making Orr and dungeons easier may help get ppl in them for a short time but there’s no real challenge in either and WvW is dire.
Getting collector weapons and top tier armor took less effort than getting one exotic eq in this game (and i’m not even talking about ascended).
As someone with both (HoM weapons and armor and exotic gear), I’ll have to disagree with you. It took me considerable time and focused effort to get the HoM weapons and armor in GW and I’ve obtained many pieces of exotic gear during the course of casual non-dungeon PvE play in GW2.
Then run FotM. What exactly is it you people want? What other MMO hands out top-tiered items for nothing?

Funny because that “top tier gear” was not a single point better than a blue sword gotten of a collector for 5 junk items, crafted with a few common materials or bought of a person for pennies.
We were promised no “grind for stats” yet that is exactly what this game has turned into. Everyone was always fine with grind (progression) for cosmetics. That was the whole point till ANET supposedly listened to people and turned this game into WoW 2.0
Why do you think exotics are available trough many different means? So all players could attain max stat gear relatively quickly and in the way they wanted to play the game.
Yet this was all ruined with FotM where playing the game has turned into a one dungeon grind and this new laurel thing is just more unnecessary things ruining a very good system. For what?
So a few “proper MMO players” can have their fix for a few weeks then whine again on how there s nothing to do.
