Spending ALL of your gold...
OK it really freaks me out when I see you’ve replied to a topic I’ve never seen before.
I always think I’m going crazy.
It doesn’t help that your answer was similar to the one I was going to type out . T_T
LOL! This is amusing. xD
Lol. I just caught that. I read that original post and thought that guy was quoting himself and being weird.
I much prefer to buy many things over one big thing. And funny thing is that my “cheaper” stuff is more rare than legendaries. Back when they first came out, I bought a bunch of the Twilight Arbor Aetherpath weapons off the TP. They were around 100g each at the time, but I can say that I never see anyone else with those skins, and I absolutely love the look of them.. way, way more than any legendary I’ve seen so far.
I have a hard time spending gold, and I don’t have the desire to TP flip, but my one way of investing is in buying BL skins and holding them until they go up in value. Just four of these skins bought me Dawn (to make Sunrise, which I sold to buy lots more skins, etc).
I think people are different. Some are savers, some are spenders. I’m a bit of both. I don’t mind forking out 400g for one skin, but I still like to keep at least a few hundred gold in my account at all times. Not sure why, but it makes me not feel poor :p
Well, when I first saw the Bifrost, I loved the rainbow animations of it, but didn’t exactly love the staff skin itself. I saved up for it anyway. When I finally crafted the Bifrost, I looked at how much it was worth on the TP, and realised I had 2 clear options: I could sell it for about 3700g (which would leave me over 3000g+ after fees) which would be extremely handy for investments, OR I could bind it, get a measly 5 achievement points, and unlock it permanently – and also never have to worry about making another ascended staff in my life.
I figured, well, I should bind it before I change my mind (cause I was truly in 2 minds about what to do). At first I REALLY regretted it, cause I realised that I’ll only really use it on my elementalist because I play that class the most (and that is true to this day), but after a few months of figuring out what I could do to make it work and be happy with my outfit, I found the perfect dyes for them. ELECTRO baby. And below is the final result :-)
I don’t regret buying it now, but initially I did ha ha XD I would do it all over again if I knew it was going to make me happy, which it has.

well now, I must really suck at farming because I never have hundreds of gold to spend…the most I have ever had was 260 gold, now I tend to stay around 7-10
For my own part, I don’t think there’s anything in the game that I’d want so much that I’d spend all my gold on it. That being said, I’m saving up to buy a precursor, or maybe two, now that they’re coming down in price. The ones I have my eyes on are The Hunter (rifle), Dawn (greatsword) and Chaos Gun (pistol), since they can be used by one or more of the three characters I currently play the most – engineer, mesmer and guardian.
Of the three, my personal preference is for The Hunter. I really, really, REALLY like that skin – in fact, in my opinion it’s the best rifle skin in the game next to Charrzooka (which I have for my engineer and warrior). In fact, I think The Hunter has a better skin than The Predator, the legendary in whose construction it’s used. Cost-wise, Chaos Gun is currently the most affordable, 420g each on TP when I last checked a few minutes ago; if I bought two, I could equip both my engineer and mesmer with a precursor.
In point of fact, I could buy any of them right now and still have at least half my gold treasury left over. I’m still waiting on it, though, trying to save as much gold as possible, because there are other things that I want (like unlocking the final available account bank slot, another inventory slot for my engineer and/or mesmer, more 20-slot inventory bags, runes to properly equip my new sets of berserker armor for my three mains, several desirable but expensive dyes like Cyanide, and so on). When I buy the precursor, I expect to have myself a nice little shopping spree as well…
thought that guy was quoting himself
We are girls. :P I mean I’m not sure about the other Mea but it’s my real name and I’m a girl… xD;
I’m also a chick, but “Mea” is both my initials and the first few letters of my name
Plus I’m a bit of a Latin dork.
Or you could give it to me

if i had that much gold i would wonder how i even got that much in the first place, i am broke most of the time because to me 1G is already quite allot.
maybe so many ppl have 2K at minimum but i barely hit the 30G….

Farming, or otherwise earning gold, is only one side of it. How/when you spend it is also a factor.
The most I’ve ever had was just over 800g, but it didn’t just happen one day and it wasn’t because I went on some insane hardcore farming project. I saved all the gold I got (even avoiding using waypoints unless I really had to) and sold everything I didn’t need over several months to get there because I wanted to buy a precursor and that’s what it cost.
If you get to about 10g and start looking for something to spend it on then it’s unlikely you will ever have much more than that. If you want something more expensive you need to make a conscious decision to save up for it.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I probably would, if I´d want the skin a lot, for me gold in this game is means for getting stuff, I don´t enjoy the game more with 1000g than with 1g. I spend it all.

You’d be really stupid, if you waste now 3700 gold on an item in the game, which you will be soon able to make alot easier with Heart of Thorns…
Better spend this amount on gold into much more useful things:
- Gems
- Collections
- Black Lion Weapon Skins
- Ascended Equipment for your Characters
- Unlocking other Stuff for your Account (Colors, Minipets, Armor Skins)
- Help People/Friends, that are in need of more Gold and don#t have the time to farm so much for it.
I’d play the market instead.
If you’ve really got 3700 Gold, use it to move one of the crafting mat markets. For instance, you could move Lemongrass from its current 14.5 silver to probably at least 20 each, which would give you around 4200 Gold. Repeat with something like Ghost Pepper, and so on. After a few days, you’ll be able to buy that 3700 Gold Legendary without any worries (^_^).
Gold is just a tool. No reason to not buy what you want if you can afford it.
Nope, I’d buy exotics or ascended or whatever for all my characters.
I like the more realistic look anyway. All the legendaries are a bit too much imo.
You need gold to make gold. So no, not all of it.
But most of my gold, yea, I did that.

You only need gold to make gold if you play the trading post. Regular players dont need gold to make gold.

You need at least some gold to waypoint around the world to quickly make gold. Obviously it’s free to get to LA, the major cities, Fort Trinity (once you finish story), and the starting zones. But beyond that, you’d have to either waypoint or waste a lot of time running.
Plus, you’d need gold to sell any good drops you got while playing.

Lets say you spent all your gold for eternity you can walk for free to plains of ashford, do an ascalon catacombs full run and have 5g again. Thats plenty to waypoint again and post the regular drops and stuff on TP.
Eternity is to mainstream atm so I wouldt buy it rather buy some skin from TP that not many are using.

Yup, you can definitely do that.

Sure, but it depends on what your routine is. If you’re used to playing the TP, buying materials to refine, buying gems etc, then 5g is certainly not enough for some people.
The more money you have in-game, the faster you can make lots more money…. it just depends what your preference is for earning gold.
Seeing as how I don’t even have 30 gold, HELL YEAH!! I’d definitely buy something worth almost 4,000 gold for 30
Rewards are subjective. If you really want it and have the gold, get it.
Nah… why would I spend all of my gold when I can use that gold to work for me by buying skins, flipping, etc? If I had excess gold and was still able to do those other things, then I would spend that portion, but not all.

Pointless.
Either I make it, or I earn it.
Buying from others? Never.
I’d say someone who gathered thousands of gold earned it as well.

I would sooner buy a bunch of BL skins (phoenix, chaos, etc), and gems for account expansion (bank slots, char slots etc).
